Valle is clearly the better player, and I couldnt careless if hes not our player, we need to play our strongest team in these matches. And contractually Taylor and Valle are in the same boat, they both most likely leave at the end of the season, so there should be zero sentiment in this choice. Put it like this, if Valle was our player, Taylor wouldn't be getting a sniff.
You are right mate. But there has been stories going about that Barca want to terminate his loan deal and take him back. That's why (I believe) Taylor is in the team. Domestically GT is fine but at elite level he struggles.
Schmeichel has made such a difference to us - all of our best seasons in Europe in the last 20 years have come when we've had great performances from our keeper (Boruc, Fortser)...we would not be sitting on 8 points without him in goal - absolutely world class!
To be fair, Bruges created that own goal with superior marking. They absolutely forced the error. We've done the same to other teams. To come back and win the point shows a lot of quality, after the first half I thought we were done for. Overall a great performance especially end of 2nd half.
They were very clever in that first half. Brugge dropped a defender 5 yards which gave them space/time & made it impossible for our front press to close the distance. They’d pull our pressing players on to them & then easily find the gaps in behind. Brendan pushed Maeda’s starting position further forward in the second half & gave them less time to nullify our press. Not sure why this adjustment couldn’t have been done in the first half. CCV’s OG was a shocker but the ball should have come out Trusty’s side earlier. He had an easy ball to McGregor or Hatate but first thought is to give it back to the keeper. We did this all night really. First pass was always a negative one & doing so created unnecessary problems all night.
lads, just had a nap pre thanksgiving over here in Texas. Came to say this. Why the f**** is Bernardo not getting started before Engels. Just watched the match back. Engels has had 4? decent games and then been lacklustre and underwhelming every game since. Everytime when things are looking bleak or the chips are down he hides, whereas Bernardo is the opposite.
We did very well Brugge never scored, we scored a screamer. This game shows signs of progress. It was a hard won point but in the past we would have lost this game.
Think the team & the stadium were shocked at how good Brugge were, tactically the much better team in that first half and played some great stuff. Players & fans should know by this is the standard of the CL & any team in this competition can play you off the park.
we played beneath our level in the first half and let Brugge dominate it, but across both halves Schmiechel didnt have many saves at all. I think the international break has disrupted our rhythm and will take a few games. Engels had his worst game in a Celtic shirt and has to be dropped at the weekend. he needs a break to take the pressure off. we need to help Engels settle as i feel he hasn't settled in to life at Celtic and he doesn't have an identity within the team. He is so passive, yet so capable. Hatate did almost score with a long range shot, but I no feel Hatate's proclivity to lose the ball in his own half is a systemic technical problem with him. We need to strengthen midfiled in summer probably 2 big players needed. but overall, a point is fair enough and we cant complain about 8 points after 5
Valle was the reason we got the goal, he comes on and immediately creates that space that Taylor failed to do. He must start going forward As for Bernardo, he was ten times better than Engels, Hatate and even Calmac. He showed the levels that the others should be reaching
I hate criticising players i really do but i agree with hamish about hatate. Got bullied last night and kept losing the ball. Hes too inconsistent for me.

He should have replaced Engels after the first half, with Bernardo replacing Hatate, who was complete mince, which will probably be glossed over once again.
Despite Brugges dominating us in that first half they never even managed a shot on target in the first 45 Which is frustrating as hell ... It's a wake up call and another learning curve for us... I also feel now that the folk who've been saying Engels needs took out the spotlight are correct if only for his own good
Casper said in his interveiw after the game that he was shouting to carter vickers that he had moved but the noise in the stadium carter vickers didnt hear him .i thought we looked better when Valle came on and i would have kept maeda on longer as well ,plus i think we resorted to much into curling the ball into the centre of the box from an angle out side the box like kyogos chance its fine doing it now and then but we stopped playing down the sides and couldnt get Alistair Johnston on the ball or taylor
We were not good last night but we stuck with it so a bit of resilience. Our midfield in the first half was absolutely dire. None of them seemed to know what they were doing. The confusion concerns me , the space in the midfield reminded me of Dortmund. I’m a wee bit concerned with the midfield at present . Too many misplaced passes at this level . Think we probably got away with one last night . Nonetheless we move on but the performance has to be better

We were incredibly lucky to get a point. Manager got it wrong Taylor and Engles should not be starting. Needed Bernardo and Idah strength against that team. Really poor first half, fluked a point. DM motm
"Incredibly lucky" is a bit of an overstatement. KS had one excellent save the whole game. We didn't play very well or offer much in attack but it's not as though Brugge were peppering our goal for 90 minutes and Brugge's goal can certainly be filed under the "lucky" category. A draw was a fair result

Hatate was having one of those games out played and all over the shop he should have been hooked early doors. So far so good in the CL very impressed with the team onwards to Dinamo and we should make the cut. Good chat as always lads 🍀
I’m sure Arne will get more consistent as he gets older and gets more games but he looked really timid last night against his countrymen and also against Dortmund.
Still excited about CL play. If not for the mistakes we could have won that game. To come back and get a draw after those mistakes in CL shows we have what it takes to compete at this level. Good improvement over the previous years and im sure BR will make more adjustments. I feel bad for CCV when he is in good health he is a great player for us. I agree with most of the other comments Hatate looked exhausted and was dominated. I think a rest would do him well. Daizen would not be denied that goal what a amazing goal! We got some positives we can build on as well. Good job Bhoys. Great show guys.
I actually don't think the crowd were great last night. There was so much tension and that transmits to the pitch. Do people really think that if they shout at players when they misplace a pass that it's going to increase their performance? As an example, Engels is not hitting the heights he did when he came in but he's only young and he needs to be encouraged if he's going to improve - I'm not saying that the response from the crowd is the sole reason for that but it can't have helped. It's a sign of how far we've come in the last few years that we were disappointed with that result - Brugge are a very good side and we could easily have been taken apart and probably would have been if this had been a few years ago.
Probably one of our top 2 worst performances of the year!!! BUT we still got a point - previous celtic teams would have lost that game 3-0. Thats progress Also, if we got "lucky" with VAR, they got "lucky" from our own goal so evens itself out
I am not one of those people who have been bashing Engels, but I thought he was really poor last night. Bernardo coming on made a huge difference. Take the time to work with Engels and ease him back in.
Engels is being asked to play in that O'Riley role when that has never been his game. The worrying thing for me in that game was he was running back with the ball a lot and putting the full team under pressure, looking lost. The other thing is his technique. A lot of times he's been on the end of a Maeda cut back in the box with a chance for a shot and slices the ball or skies it. He doesn't really have a left foot or threat from open play, and his height is sort of meaningless as he isn't confident at winning headers and he takes the corners. He clearly needs a huge amount of work to settle. There's a lot of pressure on him to be a first team Belgian international for the next 10 years and emerge as Celtic's best player. Needs to get his head right for that.
We didn't play very well got a point .although I feel like if the subs were made earlier would have had a better chance of more but I feel on the balance of play a point is what we deserved
Controversial opinion. The OG was more Schmeichael’s fault. Soon as he knew the pass wasn’t going back to him (which was pretty quickly) he should have been right back between the sticks. He should have been there.
Kasper should not have been postioned where he was for the own goal. Dont care what people say about passing it wide of the goal. The keeper should not be out his goal mouth when the passage of play is happening on his 18 yard line.
Taking the piss now with Bernardo and McCowan! Rodger’s is not treating them with respect! Engels is ONLY playing now because of his transfer fee, he’s been playing poorly for weeks
Too many of our fans are ready to jump on the bandwagon and critise our players after the slightest mistake. Having said that , I do think we need to be able to give honest feedback about our performances but there are ways to critique our players performances without it sounding offensive. For example, let's talk about Engels It's fair to say this bhoy has talent and loads of it, but he was nowhere near as effective as he was against Leipzig. One reason for this could be due to the fact he was facing his countrymen and he will have been known to many of the players in the Brugge squad and those players whether playing or on the bench will have known how to nullify the creative ability of a player who though clearly gifted is still lacking experience at Champions league level. Also with Brugge being more seasoned campaigners on this stage than ourselves in recent years they were able to find ways to stifle his influence on the game and that of the Celtic midfield more generally especially in the first half of a game where we as a team weren't on it.
Not a knee jerk reaction and probably unpopular but...I genuinely wouldn't miss Hatate if he were to go in Jan/summer. He is extremely frustrating and feel like he has already reached his peak. I'd genuinely rather have McCowan in there.
Cut the crap with the crowd being an extra man that intimidates Champions League Teams. They are not intimidated and if Brugge had a decent forward we would have been slaughtered in the first half.
Poor performance overall, the whole team was off, slow, sloppy bad passing Taylor shouldn’t be starting and engles should of been subbed off at half time.
Midfield 3 were non-existant. Simply didn't show up. I'd have hooked Engal much sooner and Hatate's carelessness and losing the ball in our half far outweighed any positive contribution from him. CCV normally solid, what can you say? Only Q is around his situational awarness and not opting to pass to Trusty and not to Kasper. Overall we got away with that one.
Worst game I've seen hatate play at Celtic ,he was very lucky the 2nd goal was offside , constantly giving the ball away . Also CCV has a shocker even out with the own goal . It looked like he wasn't confident on the ball , many under hit passes . In my opinion Engles , Hatate and CCV were far worse than Taylor . The Players that got pass marks from me were Trusty and Kasper.
@Angling-Ayrshire Schmeichel does what he's told. Not his fault, he made himself available for the pass - CCV got it all wrong. Had Schmeichel been in the middle of the goal, why is CCV playing far corner no look passes? Why didn't he hoof it? First thing you're taught as a defender. 😂 CCV has been very poor all season, Schmeichel stopped us getting beat last night.
@@lf67hh28 Schmeicel is a keeper he should not be leaving his goal mouth when the ball is being played around his 18 yard line. You say hes only doing as he is told yet CCV is in the wrong for not 'hoofing it away' dont you think he's doing as he's told aswell? I know for a fact Rodgers isn't telling them to hoof it up the park.
@@Angling-Ayrshire You don't know anything for a fact, you aren't at training. I guarantee you that at no point has Rodgers ever told any centre half in his career to play a cute ill-advised back pass in your 6 yard box while under huge pressure from the attacking team. Feel free to show me evidence to the contrary. Every goalkeeper in modern football regularly vacates their goal mouth to get space for a back pass, and actually Schmeichel was the right pass that Kuhn should have made. CCV cocked up, and has been awful all season - stop defending subpar, thats not being a real fan. Additionally, we only got a point explicitly because Schmeichel saved us.
@lf67hh28 every comment you ever make on any celtic channel is to hate on a player that you're suppose to support. CCV is without a doubt the best CB we have at the club, he's made 1 mistake in the 3 years he's been at the club. Now all of a sudden he's been rubbish.. 🤦♂️ The evidence is on the pitch every game we play for you to see. We never 'hoof' it up the park even in the most dangerous of situations. There was numerous errors in that passage of play and blame could be put on 4 or 5 of our players for it but at the end of the day what is done is done. We gained a point and we move onto the next
A hugely disappointing performance An ok result 8pts from 5 games is probably a points total we’d all have signed up for looking at the fixtures at the outset. So I think it’s important to stay level headed. The Leipzig performance saw a lot of fans get carried away and now the Brugge performance is seeing many go to the other extreme with the negativity. One win from our next 3 matches should see us comfortably through to the play off round. 2 draws might even do it.
How can you speak for 26 mins and not mention the fact engels was rank rotten. Basically playing with ten men until he went off. Hiding. Never showing for the ball it was painful to watch. Shdnt have started the poor guy. Take him out the firing line for a few games please
Think thats what he needs, a few weeks out the team and made to fight for that starting place. Just now he knows he's getting a start and wont be dropped but if Bernardo starts the next couple and has good performances it will make Engles raise his game 👍🍀
@ Did you even read the post? If they had a decent forward it would have been a Dortmund Esk thumping. Their players were quite sufficient to halt anything we had to offer but only lacked a goal scorer. That’s called an opinion. Not a speculation on, if only they had players like Real or Barca. We were lucky they didn’t have a decent forward.
Listen out for this- GB start a chant, people join in, but the GB sing it a beat slower than the rest of the stadium wants to. Everyone gets out of time, the whole thing breaks down, everyone else gives up. Rinse repeat 1000 times
Otoh they've been doing their gabber 200 beat per minute version of hail hail for 15 years, the stadium has NEVER been able to join in in time and just they dont care.
Think we started too pragmatic,we need to play our own game at home, understand why they started like that do we need to use home advantage, put them on the bk foot ? they were very good on the counter so it's a difficult one, great recovery when we did put them under pressure, pressed high probably didn't want another Dortmund
Kasper is clearly pointing to Khuns left which was a safer outlet but Khun runs 20 yards back towards his own goal and why he's a winger the ball was cleared safely to him on the halfway line he had no right to run 20 odd yards back towards his own goal when he couldn't run 10 yards towards the Brugge goal but Khun fault but CCV shouldn't of played a blind pass backwards to his own goal his head should've been up a quick look and then hump it up the park it was a school boy error

So CCV was terrible because the mistake, yet Kasper got pass marks even tho his postioning for the own goal is what caused it?
@Angling-Ayrshire Schmeichel does what he's told.
Not his fault, he made himself available for the pass - CCV got it all wrong. Had Schmeichel been in the middle of the goal, why is CCV playing far corner no look passes? Why didn't he hoof it? First thing you're taught as a defender. 😂
CCV has been very poor all season, Schmeichel stopped us getting beat last night.
The evidence is on the pitch every game we play for you to see. We never 'hoof' it up the park even in the most dangerous of situations.
There was numerous errors in that passage of play and blame could be put on 4 or 5 of our players for it but at the end of the day what is done is done. We gained a point and we move onto the next
A hugely disappointing performance
An ok result
8pts from 5 games is probably a points total we’d all have signed up for looking at the fixtures at the outset.
So I think it’s important to stay level headed. The Leipzig performance saw a lot of fans get carried away and now the Brugge performance is seeing many go to the other extreme with the negativity.
One win from our next 3 matches should see us comfortably through to the play off round. 2 draws might even do it.
If Scales scored that OG he'd be slaughtered, terrible from CCV
Well surely that's an argument to get off Scales back rather than to get ON CCV's back?
@Mantis_Toboggan_MD. 💯
Mcgregor needs a break McCowan should play on Saturday! Hatate should be dropped, and so should Engels, all need to reset.
Too many "Billy big baws" in our team, few players believe the hype that they are worldclass footballers. How so wrong they are
How can you speak for 26 mins and not mention the fact engels was rank rotten.
If Brugge had a decent forward that would have been a Dortmund Esk thumping!
Nonsense
@ Your entitled to your opinion, even if it’s utter shite!
Yes if Brugge had better players than they currently have, they'd have beaten us.
That's not exactly breaking news is it?
@ Did you even read the post?
If they had a decent forward it would have been a Dortmund Esk thumping.
Their players were quite sufficient to halt anything we had to offer but only lacked a goal scorer. That’s called an opinion.
Not a speculation on, if only they had players like Real or Barca. We were lucky they didn’t have a decent forward.
I keep saying it the atmosphere is a myth at Celtic Park we need to get rid of the two singing sections they don’t work and it’s embarrassing
🤡
Listen out for this- GB start a chant, people join in, but the GB sing it a beat slower than the rest of the stadium wants to. Everyone gets out of time, the whole thing breaks down, everyone else gives up.
Rinse repeat 1000 times
Otoh they've been doing their gabber 200 beat per minute version of hail hail for 15 years, the stadium has NEVER been able to join in in time and just they dont care.
@@chrisgallagher881 do you not remember only a while back when the GB were banned ... place was like a morgue !
@chrisgallagher881 - everyone is entitled to their opinion, but yours is just wrong and embarrassing
