Rodgers is a human being who breathes football. He knows that a back pass is not always a negative event. It allows us to keep possession and alter the point of attack. Many of our support are of the belief that they can chant anything and there will be no reaction. A chant for KT at our next match is a two fingers to Rodgers.

Great to have Euan on with some sensible, balanced commentary. Every time Stevie is on, I think we should all flood the comments section with how much we like Euan. That is not a slight on Stevie at all. I don't know why anyone would think that. It is just great to have Euan back.
Frankly, the fans need to wind their necks in a bit. Why has there been such a reaction from Celtic fan media to BR's comments about the KT stuff? Because they were among the fans that were singing for KT and they don't like being called out.

Being called out by a traitor like Rodgers? That’s the problem. It’s who is saying it.
The guy that abandoned the entire team when we desperately needed him, for a few more bucks.
Those fans that he is questioning actually PAY money to be there. He gets paid A LOT!!
That wasn’t enough though. He sold the team out and came back when it didn’t work out too good for him.
The fact we allowed him back is pathetic in its own right, never mind him looking down his nose at us and talking about us like that.
If Neil Lennon had said that, I’d respect it. Definitely not taking that crap from a greedy wee prick like him though

Rodgers was 100% right. We are not entitled to win every game 4 nil, yet some supporters think we do. Short memories some people. 100% agree on Ibrox. I was never confident. We are not strong enough in midfield. Too much expectation on Mcgregor who is no Scott Brown.

Think Rodgers has escalated an issue that wasn’t really as serious as he makes out. I suspect Rodgers was upset at his tactics being questioned due to a couple of below average performances recently. More about his ego than Taylor’s feelings. Celtic were at loggerheads with sections of the support last and parkhead was a toxic atmosphere at times, don’t know why he wants to resurrect it. I was there and wasn’t aware of the level of alleged fans grumblings . As for fans shouting about entitlement etc geez a break like Rodgers each individual supporter has an opinion. Big European game coming turn your focus on that game Brendan, no need to be so prickly.

I back the manager all day long. But..he didn’t come across terribly well. It came across as slightly petulant almost a little childish. You could tell he was annoyed, but he could have tempered that response slightly (if you ask me) but the spirit of what he’s saying is spot on. Back the team, trust the team, trust the manager. End of the day, that’s 3 points. Sevco dropped points and big Phillipa is blaming the rain or the direction of the grass or something similar. Onwards and upwards 💪🍀

Everybody's talking about Kieran Tierney, for me Euan returning to the pantheon of Celtic commentators is an equally exciting January transfer. A great summary of the game and certainly the current mood within the support. We do have a habit of overreacting at times, I know of one Hoops fan on social media who was particularly outraged in the run up to the game, but we do set high standards as a club and won't stand for players jorking it.

Much respect to you hamish, Stevie and Euan. I can be bit of a prick at times but my heart always lies with Celtic. Only God and family are ahead of Celtic in my priority list.
That being said, just because he is the current manager doesn’t give him the right to bash the supporters. True that some are over the top, but even at that, they spend their hard earned money and valuable time to support the team.
He gets paid a lot of money to be there, and even that wasn’t enough as he betrayed us once for more money. He betrayed the entire team, fans and club.
Now he is questioning our support?? Who tf does this guy think he is?
Look if Neil Lennon or literally any other manager we’ve ever had said that, I would respect it.
I had very little respect for him after he left us mid season and came back. I never wanted him back. He’s already shown us what he thinks of us and now he’s literally telling us.

The factors which led to the managers remarks:
i clearly livid about the deplorable display in Govan
ii he is less than pleased about Taylor's reluctance to sign a contract
iii like all real managers Brendan creates a crisis, builds up the drama and uses it as motivation. The deliberately headline-grabbing "fans should not moan about backward passes" will turn into "get out there, get on it, keep the fans onside, do not give an inch" in upcoming team talks.

Good to have Euan in the team now. On the Rodgers comments, I am unsure, he should give us our dues for turning up and supporting the club constantly, and if we don’t like what we are seeing, we should be allowed to voice our displeasure. He spoke about that maeda run around 20 mins that went backwards, but I felt like that was a culmination of a lack of positivity on the ball generally. On the KT/GT stuff, I got embarrassed when they started singing the song…

Brendan is spot on. I mentioned it in your last vid. For the claims that we're best support in the land, it's shameful the way they groan only twenty minutes in. Aside from the fact very few supporters of other teams around the worldwould be as negative as we are given the position we are in both leagues and recent cup winners - but the main point is that Celtic fans are meant to be the twelfth man. Aside from getting to perform better with the atmosphere, a nervous, underconfident team need support. Groans from the fans only will make them more nervous and play worse. I completely get why Brendan is pissed off with how severe the fans have been on his team who have achieved so much already.

Celtic is bigger than him and that specific team. He thinks to highly of himself.
Guy rubs me the wrong way and he just lost the little respect I had left for him.

@@ckdub1888fair enough if you don't like the guy. My point wasn't about his personality or likeability. My point was that many Celtic fans are so quick to go OTT with criticism on the players if they happen to go through a tougher patch (more likely a rough game) because they're so not used to even losing a game. Every team or player will go through a less than optimal patch, they're human. But it annoys me when the fans are immediately down on them, considering what they've achieved so far in both leagues and the cup too. It flies in the face of 'faithful through and through' chants, never mind will do nothing to improve the players, just makes them more underconfident and pressurised.

I agree with Rodgers that the moaning about back passes isn't always on, especially in the example he gave of Maeda vs Brugge. What I don't agree with him saying is the team and management have earned the trust of fans. That was true up until Thursday. We have every right to have doubts given the performance and the fact it has become a pattern in bigger games that we appear unable (or unwilling) to learn from. Poor form. Felt bad for GT though, regardless of his form but think BR should've dealt with that in house.

Regarding the Rodger’s comments on the Tierney/Taylor situation, it’s obvious that Rodger’s is showing public support for our current LB, to encourage him to sign a deal, as he would like to have GT as a squad rotation LB but there is clearly ongoing negotiations.
To back this up, Rodger’s has stated on numerous occasions his support for GT including talking about his willingness for him to stay on but that he needs to do what’s right for him, and has deliberately played GT in front of AV even when AV would have been the better choice.
In a perfect world I’d have AV and KT in rotation, but with AV he’s young and has a potential Barcelona career vs GT who could have the potential to finish his career at Celtic if convinced to stay.

Rodgers is reverting to form; he usually spends about two years happy at a club, then something happens, and he starts lashing out publicly at the club and/or the fans.
I'm not saying I disagree with him; I think he made some valid points about the fans. There is an element amongst us who act as bad as the Zombies when things don't go our way. Luckily, it's a minority.
I don’t agree with BR on Taylor. Taylor hasn't signed a new contract and there has been lots of talk about Tierney. You can’t blame the fans for singing KT's song.
Personally I think BR will be gone next year. All it takes is one transfer window where he doesn’t get the players he wants, or a run of bad form and I think he’ll be off.
On the recent form and the Zombies: I must have been the only Celtic fan on earth who thought we’d get beaten against Rangers (i) we’ve not been playing well for the past six weeks (ii) no Celtic fans + the Bears were out for blood in a poisonous atmosphere (iii) our strikers are bang average at best this season (iv) the Rangers players wanted revenge for the cup final, and are playing for their careers at the club (iv) hard for us to motivate the players with a 14 point cushion.
I was sadistically laughing at the Glasgow Derby to be honest; it took all of Rangers malice, hatred, talent and energy to beat us 3-0 in a dead rubber game in front of their own fans. As much as I thought they’d beat us last week, I though they draw or lose against Hibs...because they are $hite. They are the quintessential ‘win the battle, lose the war’ football team; which is why we’ve absolutely battered them across all competitions for 20 years.

100% agree with Euan regarding BR's comments on the Tierney chant. I'd wonder if BR is feeling the chants aren't a help to him in convincing GT to sign.
I'd also wonder if much of the motivation behind BR's other comments are a lot to do with the stinging criticism they all got after Thursday's disaster. He's hurting after the performance and it's compounded by the backlash from fans. I dunno but at least they didn't take long to get 'back on the horse'. 🍀

Never a good idea for managers earning 80k a week to start lecturing their own fan base on how to support the team. He has created unnecessary division. I think there's a mixture of BR going on the offensive to deflect from the derby, but also a fair point he makes about it being a very rare reversal. In the week running up to the game, the stats of 2024 were incredible. Rodgers is bang on in regards to fans getting on the teams back if we aren't winning heavily. Playing against a team sitting back isnt easy- hes bang on
I disagree on the Tierney chant. Absolutely nothing wrong with being excited for his potential return.

Brendan’s ego was bruised by the criticism from the fans over the Rangers performance so decided to strike back. He was rightfully included for his mismanagement of that game and has found it hard to take . He sounded a bit silly like a petulant child and won’t do himself any favours by falling out with our support.

I don't think the song was directed as an insult to Taylor in anyway shape or form. He's a grown man, being paid a fortune, playing for one of the biggest clubs in world football. If he can't handle the fans chanting for a player that would increase the quality of his own team, without going in a huff, then perhaps he needs moved on. Euan very balanced in his analysis.

For all we know it was water off a ducks back to him or maybe he was inconsolable in the dressing room at FT ? Who knows! We're all just speculating over what GT thought of it

@Mantis_Toboggan_MD. true mate. I'd like to think he'd welcome KT back with open arms because of his quality. I'd heard Taylor went straight up the tunnel after the game looking annoyed but I didn't see it myself, so it could be utter pish.

Rodgers can’t say that about fans being frustrated and then say it’s a small section because there was not one Celtic fan that doesn’t get frustrated when we have been absolutely humiliated by Rangers days before and the urgency to score that was there in the opening minutes has vanished. He is talking about every supporter and considering he fucked us over not long ago, this is a mistake.

The fact that BR is wanting to keep GT tells you that he is limiting Celtics chances in the UCL and that bothers me massively but the same can be said for his 6m overpayment to Norwich for Idah. He could hardly get a start with Norwich and his international performances showed his lack of quality, so for me I've personally lost all trust in BR. Look at our UCL so far...this group of teams will never get any better than this and yes its went in a bizzar way, games we should have won, we haven't, just like our derby game, we should be winning those. BR is too busy wanting to be the player's pal before their boss.
