Sometimes it’s due to overhead obstructions. Other times it’s because it’s cleaner to do it that way. If we’re not pushing the truck until it’s empty you tend to spill a bunch on the road in front of the paver tracks and then you have to shovel it out of the way by hand
What in the hell!…..I don’t know what’s going on….but seems more like you’s don’t know what is going on….what’s with dumping the asphalt in the street and then loading the paver!….I get it the little guy can’t push the tandem but jeesh for the life of me why don’t you dump it in the paver and lower the body and pull up a little bit….just clean it with a shovel off the gate so it doesn’t get on the tracks or kick away from the tracks as they go buy the spill……sure has to be quicker and easier……can you explain why your doing double the work and time still?
this may be a stupid question but is it possible to do paving jobs without the expensive paving machine? if your a small company just starting out, could you just back the dump trailer close and load the skid steer and dump it out like gravel and then just smooth it out and pack it? i realize it wont come out perfect but i bet that paving machine is like 100 grand
I’ve seen guys do it down in Texas. But just like concrete, the main thing you need is a screed. This particular paver has a 3200lb screed that does the main initial compaction and ensures the proper depth. Oh and this paver was 190k 😭
@@VTOutdoorServices wow... 1 more question, you just drive the dump truck to the material place and they fill your truck up with hot steaming asphalt and then you just take it to the job site and unload it?
@pigslayer106 yep. When we quote we do the math on how many tons it’ll require. You pad that number with an extra ton or 2. Then you go into the yard, tell them the amount and type and they mix it and fill it up
@@VTOutdoorServices well thanks for the info. i just payed off my mini ex and almost have my skid steer payed off. maybe i will get a nice dump truck soon and start doing asphalt in south TX... one day
You have some really nice equipment good luck with your business 👍
Digsafe in NH has not shown up at all to a couple jobs Ive called/done in the last couple years. I do landscaping/small hardscapes
I am a fan of Not Plowing at this point myself ,
Question, how come you guys load the paver with the skid and not the truck? Just genuinely curious is all

@VTOutdoorServices ok thank you, never seen it that way, or done it that way when I paved back here in so maine
I can never get enough lift axles going up!😁
Same here. I saw I recorded it for some reason so I threw it in
I am sure there is a reason but why dump the hot top on the ground?
In that case it was distance to plant and only having one truck to haul that day
How much do you pay for a ton of black top?
Depends on the type. But avg of $70
Some times the reward is not worth the risk.
In terms of?
