Looks like you have a good team. Great job.
....Nice Drone video work... Is the Mauldin all you thought it will be.. VS other brands..?
It’s working well. Proving to be a little too small
Wow, congrats on this success in only your first year paving. It’s truly remarkable! If you don’t mind me asking, what square footage price range are you paving at? I’m in southern Ontario, Canada. You’d cripple at the prices some companies are doing work for. Anyways, I’m a new subscriber and absolutely loving your content. Just wish you’d film more in-depth on the paving side of things- but I can appreciate you including footage of all the different jobs you guys are mobilizing. I’m a business owner my self so I can 100% relate to your employee troubles… please get back to me about that question^^
We price per ton. So square feet converted to tons based on depth of asphalt
You buy the mauldin brand new? Or she’s a refurb? How you liking her ? Beauty unit cheers 🍻
Mauldin was brand new. Took delivery in April
So crazy to see that much aggregate, in SW Georgia on homeowner driveways we rarely do aggregate under asphalt because our roadbase is $50-$60/ton. All of our commercial projects have 6”-8” of roadbase under the asphalt.
here aggregate averages about $14 a ton
The right side of the driveway on the lawn has a low spot with nowhere for the water to go. I could be wrong but it looks like you might wanna sell some grading or a curtin 😊
Water flows just fine
That Mauldin makes it look super easy
I’m in SW Central Florida. What should a similar job like this cost ?
This one was 15k. Not sure how much down there. Probably cheaper
You might want to think about tamping the edges with a rake really makes the job look good even though it gets back filled with topsoil. Just a thought we do it and it looks 100 times better
We had a discussion (reminder) about that the other day.
Happy Birthday Emma!
Old video no color in the trees
What?
That mix looks familiar 😊
Lmfao doubt they would let you go threw the wash if you wouldn’t fit, gezzus trade that in if it’s to big for you brah 😂😂
None of those idiots that work there know anything. I meant if it didn’t fit, I’d go back to a dually if I had to hand wash this thing
Good Looking Mustang, get out and enjoy it 😎👍🇺🇸
Saw your trucks up here in Swanton today 😊
Yes sir. 38 ton to a job in Georgia this morning.
I haven't ever heard of "pickleball", had to google it. Its essentially Tennis for short legged people, I think.
I have followed a lot of what you have done with my own business and the biggest thing I liked about what you did was when it was just you and Brian. I'm sure it wasn't super efficient and it got annoying not having more help that can run equipment or drive truck but I honestly think that's the way I want to keep it. I don't know if its possible or if I will go crazy but for now doing it myself and not having a full time helper seems to be working out and the headaches I have are my own and not from someone else. Any particular reason you moved away from that way of doing jobs? Other than money I'm assuming
Good question. I am never satisfied. I always want to succeed in a big way. I’d never be happy making enough to just make ends meet. I enjoy building my portfolio. This business is something I want to run on its own someday or have my children take over. Or sell if they’re not interested. I also have a marketing company and have been venturing into real estate.
Nice job Hugh! It's a tuff game to operate in today's environment with both the lower quantity and the lower quality of employees available.
Great video as always. Really appreciate the honesty and humor in your videos.
Not in the same trade as you, but your videos are very interesting and entertaining. Keep it up!
5:40 nah son lmao
Rewatched! Loved this video! Still one of my faves.....
I’d feel confident in buying equipment from you…you definitely have clean well maintained gear….keep hitting em hard….I’ll be retiring up that way someday and could use some part time old guy work.
Napa does sales on filters periodically. Nice work.
Hope you can get some good help
You can change the flow Aux 1-5
When you give the presentation on year end bonuses, as a manager of people, I'd suggest balancing the looses with some examples of wins as well
Oh definitely
Nice live body
I’m pretty excited about it
Do you have problems with oil leak in the inter cooler boot on the driver side? I have this problem now in the 2022 ram 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins with only 17k miles
No sir I haven’t. We have several. But no issues like that
And what engine oils you choosing? The 10w30 or the 5w40? And the brand?
We use valvoline 10w30
@@VTOutdoorServices thanks
Seems like I’ve seen this one before
I just thinking the same thing
First part yes. As I say at the end of the video, had to take one down from two weeks ago. Had to re edit and post with additional content
We have 3 hx in our fleet. We have 4 on order. Great trucks. Our company has been international since 90’s.
I’m happy overall with them. Our next one will be a western star 49x with the same powertrain. I just like the looks of them and want one
How much in total for a truck like that more or less?
Pricing has gotten out of hand. With FET this one was 242. Our new one inbound was over 300 with FET and the asphalt body we went with
Been driving dumps 20years never really see international trucks how is it so far ?
It’s been really good. Had an Allison transmission issue out of the gate but it’s been 14 months now and it’s been pretty solid.
Hey boss, thank you for the review.... the drill makes a huge difference in performance... the DeWalt dcd998 or 999 is a great option with 3x's the torque
how do you crown the road?
How do you make a crown on the driveway with the power rake ?
Angle your rake in and pull material from the edge back into the middle. Once you’ve done that, straighten the rake a bit and lay the wind row in the center then roll it

Awesome mate. Damn that roller works well
Looks like it was a good move going from landscaping to paving . You definitely have the right people in place now
Thought so too but not anymore
I used a stump bucket for a skid steer recently and was shocked at how fast they worked, kinda thought they were a joke but if you already have a skid on site they are a good tool to have.
Someone tell the property owner tarps and whatnot can move
Garbage leaving from our pool project
I just bought a Terran ripper for our 304 (same bucket pins and spacing as 303.5) and will be trying it out soon. Even though it was made in China, it's seemingly heavy duty and definitely worth the auction price I paid.
2 chains and 2 binders legal in VT? I thought it was 1 chain and binder per corner (4 total) plus 1 on the bucket.
Under 10k doesn’t require each corner regardless of state.
Bucket not required under 10k either (at least in NY)
Line the box with 1yd of bedding sand if you can. Saves the box big time as I’m sure you know.
