  • Boss has a new back plow. They now have 2 models-a heavy duty model designed for Commercial work -the other for residential. We compare and contrast the 2 and then compare their NEWEST one to our sno-power back blades to show the differences side by side. We do the walk through with the engineers that designed the new snowplows.

Yeah, when the Boss employee said "some customers were breaking more shear pins than they would like".... I was pretty damn sure he saw that video, haha! And likely, getting a lot of irritated phone calls from lots of other operators, too. Good for you Boss, listening and making measurable improvements. Hopefully the problems on that lighter-duty model will be a thing of the past.

Stan, way to go again my man. I appreciate your honesty when speaking with the manufacturers, and truly admire you giving them kudos when they deserve it. Yes they do, of course they do.
Absolutely 100% most companies will test their own equipment, extensively.
The ones that don't would be the outliers not the ones that do.
You literally just made that up because that's your perception of things is that most companies don't test their products and it's absolutely not true.
Look at any companies expenses especially in this industry and you'll see with a quick search just how much money and time is devoted to testing.

Very interesting. Thanks for making another video on it. Living up here in Montana we probably won’t see one at our dealers until next season. You went super quickly over the connection and disconnection of the plow. Would love to see the connection points a little better on just the plow without the 5th wheel part. Was hard to see how they changed the mounting on the plow or if it was identical. Also would love to see how and where the pins are connecting compared to the original sno power. (The main pins that connect the plow to the 5th wheel frame) a view from the back side showing it would be awesome to see the differences in design. Great video 👍 always love seeing you guys giving your personal no BS opinion and always a trustworthy source with the years behind you and time and abuse you guys put your equipment through.

They should add a sensor/switch which illuminates a light (or possibly existing turn signal indicators) when either of the wings is not in the fully folded / box plow configuration as a warning If they are extended while driving down the road.
It would also be cool to add some LED whip antennas similar to those used on sand rails so that the cutting edge would be extremely visible in your mirrors.
I'd also add a camera mounted above the power unit enclosure so you can see how close you are getting to an object when backing up to it. And if made to swivel, it could also be useful in aligning the fifth rail when attaching.

Maybe its me - but i dont get why they leave the hydraulic rams down in the area where it, the lines, the fittings, will see all the abuse.. its not like this is a loader where they see incredible amounts of force, or its impossible to mount them up top with a strong hinge to keep everything away from what can damage it.. yea, i know its “just snow” (you hope) - but its likes putting a hydraulic cylinder inside the bucket of a loader, and hoping for the best. At the very least they could build a shield to enclose the cylinder and keep all that snow, ice, salt, ect away from the fittings. Just my opinion... this is obviously a huge improvement over the previous models. Sometimes you just wish engineers would overbuild everything instead of trying to find the balance of ‘just enough”.

Hey Stan, are you going to be trying out the new 7.3 gasser? If you are, you should do a vs video of the ram 6.4 vs the ford 7.3 gasser. Curious which one would be best for plowing/towing heavy equipment.

The only negative I've heard about about loading or stressing a truck in reverse is with how the ring and pinion gears are cut in the axles the gears aren't designed for a lot of stress in reverse and it may cause excessive wear.

I've looked at them for a couple of years and just picked up a contract where I felt like 'fit'...35 duplexes with short wide driveways that feed into a private road. Previous contractor just back dragged with a v plow and then salted heavily to clean up the mess left behind. I'm hoping we can leave a cleaner surface to start with and hit it with brine to finish

Hey Stanley! Just curious: If its a pusher plow as well as a puller why didn't #anyone demonstrate the wings moving to that reverse drive pusher position anywhere - at least in the demonstration part - of the video? Plenty of Sno-power vids showing & demonstrating the same... #Thanks and #ThanksForYourVideosToo God bless.
