Very good video, I love that there is someone talking about Goku's themes, it is a little harder for me to recognize them than those of Piccolo and Vegeta. However, I would have liked you to talk about M2126, which plays when Goku makes the dragon fist, and it is not only a Goku theme, but it is Goku's last theme and the last theme composed by Kikuchi for Dragon Ball .
M1407 - Goku Faces the Androids seems like it VERY lightly references Goku's then theme, only to quickly disregard it. "The androids are programmed to end him, yadda yadda, watch the fights"
Love to see the second part to this. Kikuchi's music has always been beautiful, and your videos open up a lot more insight on the true meaning of the music. M1527 has always been a favorite of mine, such a soft yet powerful piece. great analysis of it all
1527 is indeed one of the most beautiful pieces from Kikuchi. its use during Vegeta’s “You are Number 1” speech would probably be its best in my opinion
I think it's interesting to note how the first 2 leitmotifs are a lot more fast paced, energetic, and really just highlight Goku's early carefree personality, and as the series went into a more serious tone you can see how that affects Goku's leitmotifs as well, not really a good or bad thing but just an observation i thought was interesting lol Also 1:42 I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO TALK ABOUT THIS SONG FOR SO LONG DUDE LIKE I ALREADY LOVE THE PICCOLO THEME AND THIS BEING BASICALLY A MASHUP WITH THE GOKU THEME JUST MADE IT BETTER I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT
Amazing video bro these aspects of Dragon Ball's score are never talked about enough, when they're clearly such huge apsects that make the series shine
I didn't even realize that Kikuchi was implementing a more old western style into his music until you pointed it out. Makes his music even better in my eyes
The Makafushigi adventure re-arrangement was also there in Movie 2, but like Movie 1’s variant it couldn’t be used in the show either because there was a new OP in town with its own re-arrangement suites. Kikuchi probably didn’t want to let go of something he’d been using for such a long time so soon, and unlike both Z OP’s he’d also been re-arranging it for movies. 2:48 The Movie 3 theme was practically based on the song “Let it Shine”. And yes that unused variant that had the themes of Goku, Piccolo and Tullece put together definitely wasn’t in tune with the tone of the film which was exemplified more by the C minor tracks than by this one which was C Major. 4:10 This motif that went on till Movie 6, however, was practically a re-work of “In the Hall of the Mountain King”. Also, M-1527 is one of Kikuchi’s finest tracks bar none.
Frieza arc - epic, orchestral, legendary... Cell Saga - more exciting, energetic, those drums, that suspension... Buu Saga - that one theme with electric guitars gives you chills, more modern spin on the classic series. I like previous soundtracks, but action themes were the best of all. DBZ and a few from DB. KAi's were half-bad, but weren't the same. English ............metal music has its place, but NOT in Dragon Ball. Not crudely like that.
Arc-specific music really only applies to DB with a few movie themes sprinkled in here & there. Z past Saiyan Saga's episodes is a full-on movie track system.
Goood, I love them all. That music made me stick with the series regardless crappy animation or other crappy foreign dubbing like outsourced French dubbing with my native language lector bullshit. MUSIC was important..

Yep, that’s pretty much what happened. And knowing Kikuchi, he 100% intended it.

This... this is what I was missing. Analysis on Kikuchi. I love this
Goku's 4th theme has always been one of Kikuchi's best imo. M1527, 1529A and B, 2125 and 2126 all are absolute bangers
7:30 pure cowboy mood.
1:55 AW YEAH, TIME FOR PEAK
Wonderful series of video, will def sub for part 3
Nothing like combining two of my favorite things. Music & dragonball 🐉🎶🔥

7:01 Yea, this one definitely isn’t a variation on the Movie 4 theme, only the first 3 notes are similar.
