      Well, there is a part of me that hopes I am right because I am such a CZ fan. It’s hard to hear about one failing, especially in the hands of someone as big as the honest outlaw, but if it failed it failed, and it must be reported the truth is out there somewhere lol. I don't see how it could be a design issue since the only thing they've changed are external features, the operational design is the same. It would have to be a Q.C. issue.

      Adding a optic adds weight to the slide. Cz might have to add a stiffer recoil spring to compensate. New models sometimes have bugs to work out.

    If you have a problem on any platform, the diagnosis should be new ammo (which he did), if it continues, take the light off (it's easy to test). If it continues take the optic off. If it stops with the optic removed, put the light back on. Ect. Goes for any attachments or aftermarket parts. Always troubleshoot.
    Outlaw had a tlr7hlx on. The one other person I've seen with issues was using that very light. No matter how lose he installed the light it was engaging the slide stop randomly, not causing lock back, but causing ftf.
    I know the cz has roll pins and is a pain to disassemble the slide, but if the issue is narrowed to the optic, a full slide breakdown is in order to check for possible interference. All things i would do before I i sent it back to the manufacturer.
    Anyway, thanks for the video. Cool to see you run a og 75 mag (not the same, more narrow) and the p10/09 mags (the same). Good video as always, and appreciate the hard work.

    • @GSquaredTactical
      @GSquaredTactical  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, the light that I had on there was that quick disconnect light that surefire makes that does not screw down to the side of the rail. I may get the OG light that screws on and put it on as I normally would not over but enough and I think I’m also going to let my wife shoot it, although she did shoot in the initial review without problems, but it had a different optic on it at that time and no light

    • @dylanholbrook6239
      @dylanholbrook6239 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@GSquaredTactical and of course all screw on lights are going to pinch at a different spot. Sometime the tooth for the pic rail is at the front of the clamp, or back, different clamp dimensions ect. A lot of things to trouble shoot. When a platform has been out a while everyone figures out the interference points and how to prevent issues. But this is new. Most issues are user induced rather they realize they caused it or not.

    Solid theory on the optics screws. Optics are a slipery slope. I am getting older and run optics on every gun I own that is optics ready. What I have found over the years is screw length is very important, as is optic weight. Both can induce malfunctions in a pistol. I also put a solid 200-300 through every gun for break in and to test function before mounting an optic and always clean and lube my guns out of the box. I follow this on new and used guns. After that I mount and zero an optic run another 100-200 rounds and then it is good to go.

    Good video. Honest Outlaw's video was the first time I'd heard anything negative about the P09c Nocturne and was surprised by his results,. I read in the comments on his video about trying it without the optic and I'm glad you went one step further and experimented with the screws.

    • @GSquaredTactical
      @GSquaredTactical  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Again, as I have said, in the other comments, I do not even know if it’s possible for the screw to actually hit the extractor spring as it may be completely enclosed. I’m just not sure, but it seemed awful odd to me that when I did run a screw into the extractor rod on a different firearm I had that very same exact failure so it calls me to be suspect of that. I don’t think he really looks at his comments because his channel is so big. He just does not have the time or capacity to read all of them and respond, but I hope that he will try that before he sends it back, so we can all know for sure. Before anyone calls me out I just want to say that during the video I said slide lock and I meant mag release and when I said mag release when I meant slide lock. Also when I was referring to my P10F and having installed the CCW on it I meant to say the P09 F. So I edited this video a little to quickly and didn’t catch them to later. Sorry any questions just ask and I will clear it up. Also after watching the video back it’s obvious that the slide had locked back when I was shooting my plus P ammunition and likely due to me hitting the slide lock because of having to weak of a grip for the ammunition I was shooting.

    • @cw7631
      @cw7631 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Do you think the larger controls could be bumped during firing more? Like the slide lock/release? I have had screws from the optic bind the extractor on Glock pistols if the screws were too long as well. I wish HO ran without optic for a few hundred to check baseline reliability.

      Ty sir. I used the M4x0.7x8.6mm from my 100’s of screws I had. Now with that said in no way am I saying that the reason for his failure was definitely the optic as I just do not know so 11 mm or the nine point something millimeter that comes with the vortex CCW may be just fine. It’s just that I have mounted a ton of optics in my life and it’s just something an OCD person like myself feels and it just didn’t feel right like it did with the 8.6 mm screws. People have to understand that the CCW was on the market well before the PO9 opticoptic ready was.

    I sure am glad i watched this video! I just bought this gun. I did buy it after I saw Honest Outlaw's review. I too have been watching his videos for a long time. I know how much he cherishes that old P 07 he has. I have a p10 and 75 compact. I love both of those guns, and they've both been reliable. No issues at all. I figured his was just one of those guns. Guess it must happen sometime. I certainly don't think it's all of them.
    I have 3 rmsc dots not mounted, one being the CCW. I'm still not sure which I'm putting on. The others are Holosun 507k gr. , and a Romeo X compact.
    It just shipped today, so It'll probably be next week before it delivers.

    I have a ton of CZ75 patterned mags. They are all Mecgar with the blue followers. Thankfully, they all functioned 100%, even had slide lock on all as well. Didn’t have any fall out. I think he got a lemon, but I know he’s gonna have doubt about that gun, even when it comes back. I don’t remember if he shot it without the optic or not, but that’s one thing I’ve always done with optic ready pistols. I shoot a couple hundred rounds through it without the optic, to make sure it works. Then, once the optic goes on shoot it more. If it has function issues, it’s more than likely the optic (either weight or screws being too long.

    • @GSquaredTactical
      @GSquaredTactical  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, like I have said in the other comments, I’m not sure if the screw is even capable of hitting the ejection spring but I know that exact same thing to a T happen to me in another firearm and the ejector was holding onto the casing and it turned out to be the screw in the optic so I was just curious and of course I carry the gun a lot so I wanted to be sure it would function since I had changed over to the CCW optic. Does your Defender CCW have a pretty considerable brightness difference between (I think) setting 6 and 7? Most of the time with red dots it’s a gradual brightening… my defender CCW changes considerably from 6-7. 1-6 and 7-10 are all gradual.

      I haven’t ever paid that close of attention. I cannot stand a bright red dot the brighter. It is the more distorted it looks to me the smaller the better for me. Heck sometimes it’s so light I can barely see it lol but I typically keep mine around two or three. I will check and let you know.

    I didn't quite have the issues Honest Outlaw had, but my P09C was frequently locking the slide back on a loaded mag (multiple times per mag), but ONLY with the TLR-7 HLX mounted. This was before and after installing an EPS on it. Upon further investigation I noticed the part of the slide stop lever that engages the magazine follower was always in contact with the metal magazine tube when the mag was loaded. I thought maybe the mag was putting just enough pressure on the slide stop that the recoil impulse, with the added weight of a light on the rail, was popping it up just enough to lock the slide. I had 800 rounds through the gun up to this point, and all the failures happened only when the light was installed. About half of those rounds were with the EPS on and I was not having any ejector issues. I decided to use a dremel and shave just enough of the slide stop so that it would no longer contact the magazine tube on a loaded mag. Once I verified I had enough clearance I went back to the range and went through 12 full mags in a row without issue (180 rounds). Previously I would have 1-4 failures every single mag. So I think that might have done the trick.

I believe the ones offered in the vortex CCW pack are M4x0.7x11mm and M4x0.7x9.8mm which may be perfectly fine and I’m just paranoid. Either way it held zero the screws or optic didn’t move and the gun didn’t malfunction the way his did so I’m going to stick with the M4x0.7x8.6mm unless there becomes a issue which I will report.

    It's not impossible that HO got a lemon, but I really hope he is thorough as he goes through the pistol to determine if it was an issue with the optic screw or if he possibly damaged the slide stop/ejector when he first jammed in an ill-fitting mag.
    It'd just be a shame for thousands of people to miss out on this gun because of a self-inflicted issue, or for so many to avoid CZ for a nonexistent quality concern.

      Well I have 6 videos up on this gun and it’s never failed on me once. So I’m not sure if you are talking about Honest Outlaws gun or mine. However when I made that suggestion I looked heavily into that claim I made myself. The design of this gun wouldn’t allow that. The screw would hit sold metal and stop if it were to long and it wouldn’t be able to touch the extraction spring. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already

      @@GSquaredTactical I used short screws and my CZ P-09C nocturne so far is 100%. People that I trust claim that long screws bottom out on the extractor. I have not completely stripped the slide to see how it is drilled and tapped for optics. I do know on glocks that will happen. I have been running RMRs since 2010 once Suarez international started to offer slide milling and the optics.
      No reason that a gun that is exactly identical to another proven model with the exception of a slide cut should fail for more than one youtuber, but then again one never knows.
      By look that means with the extractor removed, to see if it is drilled through at that point or if the drilled and tapped hole is blind as you say. Anyway what I have works and if the gun works out for me I will get another one as a backup for the first gun that will be used for training.

    Why are you trying to diagnose a malfunction issue with a particular firearm using all the wrong magazines? Why not diagnose the original problem with the factory mags the pistol came with. Then try other mags. I'm confused about your methods I guess.

    • @GSquaredTactical
      @GSquaredTactical  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Well, one of several different things is going on here. You either just skimmed through the video and did not watch the whole thing. You did not see my other reviews. You don’t know the premises behind why it is I was using different magazines, which was the other reviewer, tried using some of those magazines and it did not work and I wanted to see for myself if they would work. I’ve already done two reviews on this gun and had no problems only using the factory magazines. Obviously, you have not saw those or you would not be suggesting that, I have had no problems with my firearm none whatsoever so I don’t know why I would be trying to diagnose anything. I was simply doing video to try an duplicate an issue that another reviewer had, and because the other reviewer had said issue I wanted to see if mine would do the same thing because I carry this thing around. I did a follow up to this live about an hour ago, and I only used the factory magazines. So I would hope that you would look at those other items or videos before you would pass judgment. I sincerely hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.

      P07/09/10 magazines and cz75 magazines are not interchangeable. The shadow mag isn’t for the p07/09/10 guns. Not at all.
      P10, P07, P09, and the full size DWX are made with the same pattern magazines. They may vary in length but they are the same.
      None of the other CZ 75 based guns have compatible magazines with those p10/09/07/dwx full side guns. You might be able to get one to work but it’s not meant to.
