  • Here's the last video of the City of Whittier's refuse department collecting some heavily loaded 300 gallon containers in the alleys of Uptown Whittier. Anything else that I have from Whittier, is all leftover 65 gallon curbside collection footage. Which has yet to be posted. Given how tight the conditions are in most alleys, I couldn't exactly get too creative with the angles but oh well. There's at least one unique shot in here, as well as the driver showing a special move. Also, fun fact: The final clip was actually the other truck I had filmed earlier in the day. But I forgot to add it to the video that it really belongs to. And since I really wanted to use it, I figured might as well just throw it in here. Three months after this video was filmed, Athens Services began to serve all of Whittier's residents west of Ocean View Av, which includes the recycling and green waste that Republic previously collected. The eastern half of the city was not affected by the privatization of the residential refuse collection, and Republic still serves that side as of today. Be sure to drop a like and maybe even a comment, and thanks for watching. Thanks to the very friendly driver for making this video possible.

The city doesn't collect their own trash anymore.

@@minibinwaredisposaldude5641 South Whittier & East Whittier are both unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Ware Disposal currently serves those areas under contract with the LA County Public Works Department. Both of those areas are part of that same franchise. Should either of those areas be annexed into the actual City of Whittier or other surrounding cities, they would likely change to whoever picks up the city contracts.

So does the city not service anywhere anymore? It's all Athens and Republic now?

Nope, All Athens on the western half and Republic on the eastern half, since July 1, 2016.
