@@_SirCharge hey man, do you happen to know the difference from 8.3 slick to the others? That’s sold out at my local shop in SF and was thinking of picking up an 8.5. Thanks man
I've been riding this exact setup by chance (even the bushings!) for over 7 years. Out of necessity and being a kid I couldn't afford to buy new trucks so i stuck with the smaller ones from my setup when my feet were smaller. As my feet grew, I gradually increased deck size until I hit 8.25. AND I've always used top bushings, makes so much sense to me. So awesome to see Ishod does the same thing and likes to f l o a t above his deck
I have ventures with A loose bushing conversion and I have them pretty loose now. And the top kingpin nut is on there good too and it’s still super loose. And I like being able to steer the board when I’m pushing with my standing leg. That is pretty nice
now i understand why at x games sydney when someone asked for his board after the contest he said sorry man i need to it skate this week even tho he could just get new shit he didn’t wanna switch up haha
Hearing pros who are big dudes talk about riding 8.38 or even 8.5 boards is insane to me. I’m 6’4 and switched up to the big egg boards(9.5/9.75 symetrical egg) and my skating jumped 10 levels in skill. I was under the impression it would be difficult to flip tricks or get that board onto things, but All my flip tricks are perfect now, I have more control over my board and I feel steezy carvin round on a sick heroine graphic. I’ve turned a few friends onto them and watched them unlock all sorts of things they didn’t know they could do. But if your pumpin out Ishod level skating on 8.38, don’t change a thing baby
Lmao im a big guy and a normal 8.25 feels too wide. A high concave 8.25 or normal 8.1 is the stuff. People skated max. 8 inch 20 yrs ago so things change. I feel like its ability too, I used to skate 8.38 when I needed more stability. I feel like 8.1 is the best size if you can skate it fast confidently. Inside an 8.1 and ouside a tight 8.25 for added sturdiness
Try what hes saying and l youll get it. i ride similarly loose we all put weight on the side you wanna turn to but literally w trucks that loose it turns into small ankle adjustments to turn instead of putting certain amounts of weight on a side or leaning
I used to skate ‘trucks shaking while board sliding’ loose and now it’s a more standard normal loose. For me it wasn’t a qualitative difference, and if I leaned heavy I’d get wheelbite. I think because he’s not using soft bushings or anything, he gets the benefit of being able to lean heavy while turning, but not get wheelbite. This way he wouldn’t have to focus on precise ankle movements like Muhammad mentioned. This is my guess on the difference between the usual front foot turn and ishod’s
Buy a second set of bushings. Replace the bottom stock bushing and washer with a second top bushing and small top washer. That's it, now you can crank your bolt tight so that it's below the kingpin and still have super loose trucks. There's better ways to do this tbh.
There is no correlation with shoe size to board size, it's all with what you feel comfortable with. Don't forget back in the 80s the board sizes were in the 9s and 10s and were street skated...
i thought the opposite. because i feel like to rock it that loose and wobbly u gotta be a real man to tolerate and enjoy that. i picture all kids with really tight trucks thats why
@Jason Hufford Totally!!! When 148 (Indy 144) size came out, it felt so much better on my 8.125 than 147 (Indy 139) but some tricks and things did feel different and I had to adjust, especially back tails, because the wider truck meant I had to get the board round and land more precisely than on narrower trucks. I did find it much more stable overall though and had more truck to grind on. Personal preference is a big part of it too.
