Didn’t see how the actual cable went in… does the motor have to be turned a certain way so it all lines up normal? Or just push the cord through and it’ll work?
If your replacing a frozen cable and steering unit just cut the damn cable if it's stuck in the steering. Then remove the steering wheel the plastic cover remove mounting screws and pull the whole thing out through the pack of the console. Tape your new cable well to the end of the old cable and gently pull and guide if possible the old cable out of the stern pulling the new one through as you go. It's an easy job if you don't care about the old stuff.
Think this will work on a 69’ sea star ? It has the old worn out dual cable system

that looks like the cheaper one's on ebay, do you think they're much diff from the seastar ?
seastar has an "extreme" version too.

Bought a kit from Vevor and no template and instructions are beyond horrible. Missing nylon nuts as well
My mercury 1500 has 2 steering cables, but 1 is seized and disconnected. Should I buy a new one? Why would there be 2? As always another great video
You don't need 2. It depends on what type of system you have. I run my 1500/1400 with 1 cable. Son
