We were going to be in New York anyway for work and, because Lorraine’s uncle didn’t fancy going to the VMAs that year, he offered us his tickets. We picked them up from the Viacom offices in Manhattan and went on to have a very strange but fun evening at Radio City Music Hall!

I've seen The Hives and The Strokes both at the same small venue in Chicago (Metro) and although I prefer the Strokes musically from a strictly live performance standpoint The Hives win this one. They are amazing live. Strokes are great live too but Howling Pete is one of the best frontmen I've seen.

The Hives are great performers. They are entertaining and super funny. It's hard to compete against their showmanship. The Vines don't seem to care about the audience. The singer, Craig Nicholls, just goes with his mood. The Hives own the stage, but I prefer The Vines' songs in general. There is much more creativity and variation in their music. Sadly, most people only know "Get Free," which is indeed a good rock song but not their best in my opinion.
