Great video thanks. Absurd amount of work to get at a tensioner - Toyota engineers are laughing at us all I suppose.

Real repair, real female mechanic, not an actress. I wish she makes more repair videos, her voice is not irretating like other women pretending to be mechanics.

There's an after-market pulley that can be replaced without replacing the whole tensioner. Not need to replace the whole thing if the problem is the pulley ball bearing.

Usually it's the tensioner spring that fails on these first.

Nice work. Toyota what the heck were you thinking ? Disassemble the entire car to replace a tensioner assembly? Before anyone does this just replace the tensioner pulley - not the whole assembly - at first and see if that solves your noise issues. That does not require you to disassemble the whole car to replace. You can find the part tropically or just replace the bearing on the part you take out.

I won't buy a Toyota I'm not going through all that stuff know wonder why the shop charges so much I'm sure you are showing DIY and it can be frustrating for some people it's not a easy task thank you but I don't see $500 worth of work witch my freind paid for a year and a half later she has to have it done again sounds like they bought forgin parts

    • @kenlee2374

most certainly all the manufacturers are the same. some of the simple parts are just burried under so many stuff. we have to wonder what the heck are they thinking.
