Nice video boys, youtube just served this one up to me. I can already see rc video greatness in your futures. The repair is fantastic looking, you guys nailed it out of the park. See you at the flying field soon. Rick...
Awesome job boys! I am happy seeing younger generations doing what you do. Keep up the awesome videos and happy flying. Bayonas RC World just subscribed.
Great Job guys, we all crashed many of planes and Ive fixed some and just buried some for good. You both have a great future on YT, gave you a like and sub!!👍👍👍👍👍
try to use water based light weight filler melted with some few water, apply it roughly with a paint brush,, Smootht the surface then sand with fine grain sand paper, you will add less weight to the model for the same results ;-)
I just use my hands and massage it in or use an old card. Also, try to experiment with using a wet paper towel to futher smouth out the spackle but good tutorial
I have done this before ( along time ago ) only I used the same filler from the tub. I wanted to mention to BE CAREFUL on filling deep dents because the filler WILL ( in time ) start to fall off. Should the ground reach up and grab one of my planes and crinkle it to where there are DEEP dents I would fill this with many THIN layers . I didn't do this . I truly think this was the problem of it chipping off. Keep it in the air and fly it like you stole it .
Very cool guys, excellent job. Next time try lightweight spackling mixed 50/50 with Mod Pudge. They always color match perfectly. I had a weird red on my Extreme Flight Slick 580 EXP V2, and they color matched the broken wheel pants perfectly. Subscribed & Liked.
We will have to try that, I'm realizing that we used heavy weight spackling, but could have used something lighter. How much did you like your Extreme Flight slick 580, and have you had any other EF airframes? Thanks for the comment!
Very bright futures for both of you ...wait till you start repairing balsa/plywood 3d planes your guaranteed to have thin CA on your clothes....do you guys use Realflight Multiplayer to practice?
Thanks! We recently got our first balsa 3d airframe the AJ slick 51 inch. I hope I do not need repair it due to a crash, but will if a crash occurs. Yes, we do practice on RealFlight, and occasionally participate in multiplayer sessions.
@4BrothersRC Highly recommend using either a separate UBEC or Rx battery or better still an Opti Ultraguard to power you servos as insurance if ever the ESC fails and believe me they do... I've had several fail over the last few years 😉
I have a castle creations external UBEC powering the servos so I think I’m good there. I’ll have to look into OPTI ultra guard, but it probably doesn’t make sense on my smaller model.
I don't think it added too much weight, since we used only enough to fill the voids and sanded off any that was unneeded, although in future we may use a lighter spackling.
I can't say yet, but the filler we used is supposed to not crack and be a little flexible. Only time will tell, but it has about 15 flights since the repair and it still looks great with no cracking or chipping.
Not bad but,,,,, first use the light weight spackle, you can get it from Sherwin Williams (green label). Lighter, works much better, can be thinned too..
True, but as long as it does't get damaged again it shouldn't be and issue, and after all it was purely cosmetic damage. The only true "solution" would be to replace the cowl and fuse entirely which gets pricy.
@4BrothersRC you could toughen it up with a thin layer of fiberglass... but gotta balance the effort with the results right.... it did turn out nice... and the DAP product does sand nicely..
Cheap handheld steam cleaner hands down best way to fix foam!!!... steam pulls the dents wrinkles out right before your eyes just be careful around plastic and decals fingertips... because they can melt and deform
@@4BrothersRCit definitely does that. But you can sort of ‘iron’ that flat with a hot teaspoon and stroke the bubbles flatter. It works on dents bigger than your damage better than just filler. Best result: first steaming and then what you guys did. Safe travels!
Before and after the repair? I don't honestly think it added that much weight, we only used enough to fill the voids and scraped the rest off, so hopefully not drastic weight addition. In future we may use a lighter weight spackling for that reason though.
Great job gents! We need more young men like you who actually build and repair their own planes.
Exactly
Definitely, thats what i thought too!
I agree! they make the hobby great!
Dig the content and teamwork. You guys rock!
Super job guys! Really nice for an Oldtimer like me to see two young ones pick up the hobby like you do!

Nice 300. I am thinking about getting one of those.
Great work guys! I hope Lowes is (or will be) throwing you some sweet endorsement cash.
Yeah no joke LOL🤣
Nice job, glad you decided to repair it!
Yeah, when we checked it out after at home we realized it wasn't as bad as we had thought, although the propeller was in a sorry state lol.

Great tip, thanks for sharing, in this wold dominated by foamies surely this will come handy for a lot of us. Happy thanksgiving!
Your welcome, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Really good job guys, looks really good!

Great job. Love mine. Best scheme I think.
Its scheme is awesome! Super visible in the air and it looks cool too!!
Looks better than new! Nice work guys! BG4L
Thanks! We were pleased with how it turned out.
Great work guys 😊👍
Just gained a sub. Awesome guys
This makes me smile. Great job boys!
Thanks! We’re glad you enjoyed it!👍
Amazing job guys, but how much weight did it add?
Nice work! Not sure how much it saves but I use DAP Fast N Final as it's like 1/3 as dense so it adds minimal weight.
Thanks! We will have to look into that filler as another option. Saving weight is always a bonus!
I just use my hands and massage it in or use an old card. Also, try to experiment with using a wet paper towel to futher smouth out the spackle but good tutorial

Doesnt the spackle add unwanted weight to the plane?
Yes potentially, but it is a pretty minor weight increase, no more than 20grams.
Nice!
were you able to tell if it added much weight?
I don't think it added too much weight, since we used only enough to fill the voids and sanded off any that was unneeded, although in future we may use a lighter spackling.
@@4BrothersRC so no noticeable shift in the center of gravity?
@@jessdyba Fortunately none at all.
won't the filler chip off in time because the foam is flexible?

Good to know, a slightly thinner consistency would make applying it easier. Thanks for the tip!
sadly... you have created a surface that is more fragile than the original foam... but... what can you do right?
True, but as long as it does't get damaged again it shouldn't be and issue, and after all it was purely cosmetic damage. The only true "solution" would be to replace the cowl and fuse entirely which gets pricy.

Cheap handheld steam cleaner hands down best way to fix foam!!!... steam pulls the dents wrinkles out right before your eyes just be careful around plastic and decals fingertips... because they can melt and deform
We’ve seen that before, but we’re concerned it would alligator the foam and make it bubble up. In your experience has it done anything like that?
@@4BrothersRCit definitely does that. But you can sort of ‘iron’ that flat with a hot teaspoon and stroke the bubbles flatter. It works on dents bigger than your damage better than just filler. Best result: first steaming and then what you guys did. Safe travels!
and the weight?

@@4BrothersRC thank you very much
try using a stem cleaner. it will blow out the cracks
Why i don't like foam airplanes 💯💯
For what reason?
@4BrothersRC The foam gets old & starts to discolor & it starts to wrinkle up
Pretty basic guys.
What do you expect from 13-year-old influencer wannabes
Excellent work!!!
