To anyone wondering why the 5.1 doesn't work properly on PC you have to switch it to no effect it's when there is no light on any of the effects

5.1 speakers will give u better sound stage than a soundbar… good thing about this system it uses bare wire connection to the speakers so you can easily hook up better speakers
I sold off the Logitech Satellite speakers and using it with B&W MT1 speakers…i also use better speaker wires instead of using those thin ones that come in the box…u can hear the improved clarity
ive the same but changed the left and right frint speaker with JBL control ONE . i can tell you that those really bring detail into that system !!!
If you don’t already know, you have to push the “Effect” button to where no LEDs are on. That way, you get true surround. Logitech are not very clear on this matter. 3D is only an emulated surround.

I'm still rocking the Z5500's since 2004. These are built to last and with volume and clarity. I haven't heard the Z906 system yet but I'll keep it on my list.
Yeah same here .. mine was since 2008... It's still kicking STRONG. especially with powerful sound card ☺️
But as I checked, z5500 subwoofer and system specs seems to be much more worthy. If you compare the subwoofer of z5500 vs z906 and you can tell the difference. Z906 is like a eco version of z5500, though the DTS system version of z906 might be much more advanced.

Had these for almost 8 years now and loved every second of listening to music of all genres, gaming and movies on them
I can't believe this came out in 2011. I can see why they're still good, it's just pure power and bass, no fancy stuff can't beat it

I'm ordering two one to add to my setup with 11.2 speaker system and this 5.1 speaker setup for computer. I will use my computer settings to run to my receiver add this. Can't wait to hear the effects of the runner in the airport in the music from Floyd.

How do 5.1 movies sound with voices speaking?
I use a Plex server and when watching a movie, the actors voices are super low and background effects are super loud.
I see the z5500 had bass boosted thru some knobs ire something, I don't know how but has the z906 that ass well?
I use it as a combined Surround-music system and I enjoy stereo music very well thanks to the 3D-chip. It sounds like a concert-hall with a very realistic touch. Movies are also very enjoyable due to the Surround capabilities. The Logitech z906 is a real market secret..! For its price, it sounds as good as very expensive stereo/surround amplifiers.
If you can't spend a lot is it best just to ignore Dolby Atmos for now? I'm deciding between a 5.1 system like this vs a sound bar for similar prices.

@@Vladdie777 i have the z906 and it can play atmos from my new TV which TCL C835. However from my old TV it failed. Something to do with the TV's capability also as it gets the right signal

How would these hold up as party speakers in a basement? Would need to blast music while also maintaining quality / not blowing out speakers. I guess long term I'd like to use them as a home theater system and also occasional parties. Thanks

Ik heb mijn z906 inmiddels al 5 jaar, heb nu ook een z5500 (2ehands) alles werkt prima maar ik heb er niet veel aan eigenlijk ik ben bang dat ik het niet ga gebruiken maar misschien game kamer van maken met mijn pc

Not sure if anyone can help, I use via tv connected via optical. I personally put the setup to side speakers near me , now when I switch to TH-cam or now tv via the apps on tv it only goes to front. Works through back via xbox and live tv. It usually works has been and no way to change, anyone help?

I've it for about 7 years. Works fine. But thinking to upgrade/change to a Sont HT-S700rf. Basically because of connectivity and lots and lots of cables. Also I don't like much the central console. For gaming it is insane!! For watching live Bluray performance, I don't like it much. Sound get mixed.

I was looking for edifiers the whole time, because I just wanted some speakers for my turntable. Now... I want speakers for my turntable awell usable for my tv. Are these logitechs working with turntables aswell?

When looking at 5.1 films/movies, what setting is best to use? Ive heard that the 3d mode tries to assume where the audio is coming from. I dont want the speakers to assume where the audio is coming from, I instead want the movie to direct which speaker that the audio should be coming from. But there is no regular 5.1 audio option? How do i achieve this? Thank you
I've connected my set via optical, so when I start a movie or video it automatically selects the surround setting via the audio paths available. I didn't really have the issue that the sound wasn't accurate when using the automatically selected 3D setting.

If you are playing from a computer you need to make sure that your software (e.g. plex) is configured to pass audio control to the z906. Go into the menu and make sure you audio solution is set to handle dts and dolby 5.1. This way your z906 will be receiving the raw (or compressed if optical) sound data and it will manage it itself. If you are playing from a stereo source, there are 3 other modes available which you can select with the remote.

I just recently purchased the same setup myself is there any noise distortion when it’s turned up loud? the system I have now is older and when I crank it up high they start to sound distorted
Don't play music on 5.1, just use 2.1 for that

i'm confused - u can't set the speakers individually as you said - like mine you can do the sub - the center and two satellite speakers but the other two get left out
You can change the sub, the center and 2 back satellites. I don't understand why you would change the overall volume ove the 2 front satellites? Thats what you do when you adjust your overall volume

I have the z906 but at even maxed bass level at full volume it dosent shake my whole apartment.
Get another sub, and connect it, then it should prolly shake your apartment

I have this system and I love it. Some weeks ago, the control unit with the LEDs began forgetting the stored settings. Before I dissassemble it, does anybody know, if this unit has a battery in it?
I don't think that there's a battery in it, it gets it's power from the sub.
@@ThunderThome That's right, Logitech has replied to me after a LONG time. There is no battery in the control unit. They recommended to reset it by pressing the Input button on the remote for 8 s. The unit must be off when doing that. I didn't try that up to now, but I'll do it in the next time.

Hi, How do we know what it sounds like in your living room? Because we are hearing the speaker through your microphone. On our speakers. And our speakers might not be as good as your speakers. Pluss TH-cam lower the quality of the video and sound. To save money. As its using a bit less electric to send use the video.

Personally I would say yes, because then the system automatically detects what kind of surround output it needs to take

Eeeeeen jij bent nederlands😂 maar ff serieus ik heb deze netgekocht voor 200eu maar kan ik deze speakers aansluiten in het groene audiojack ding op mijn monitor?

Ja dat is wel mogelijk, echter is het wel beter om gewoon de on board geluidskaart van je moederbord te gebruiken en daarmee dus ook alle 3 de jacks. Dit omdat je pc dan alle kanalen correct aanstuurt en de controller niet nog de splitting moet doen. Voor het beste resultaat zal ik je toch aanraden om het via een optishe kabel te doen. Hiermee worden gelijk alle kanalen correct aangestuurd
@@innerlights Sorry had je 2e reactie nog niet gezien, maar dan is het beste wat ik je aan kan raden om toch alle 3 de plugs te gebruiken of je moet een aux kabel halen met 2 tulp stekkers en een jack aan de andere kant. Dan is het geen probleem om het op die aansluiting aan te sluiten

No it just silently switches on if there is no sound played. When there is sound played it just starts playing that

Online review say it is not good for audio(mp3) playback. Only good for movies and games.. whats your opinion on it ???
I know why they say that, I found the problem/solution to that. The problem is the 3D audio setting for 5.1, this is because it emulates the '3D-sound'. If you switch it to 2.1 you won't have this issue (as far as I have noticed now).
no 5.1 surround is good for music. 2.0/2.1 stereo speakers are for music.

I need to be sure before buying. Its 27k in india and 27k is huge money.
If the formats used on the media you're consuming are DTS or Dolby Digital all of that shouldn't be an issue. Dolby Atmos and Spacial Audio are a different format and not specifically supported.
So yeah you get those 5.1 through optical, if the format is supported. If the media you're using is 2.1 5.1 will be simulated.
Playing music should be done through 2.1.

Hello I'm happy with this system, but the amp on the subwoofer is getting terribly hot. I'm afraid the product won't last long.

Good sound.But if you push the sound to loud.The system overheat after 10 min.Not good if you want play the music very loud.If you are in apartment that ok.

@@ThunderThome I still use mine for gaming currently with an overclocked i5 2400k. I can play just about any game I want still. I'll eventually gut it out and upgrade it with a worthy GPU and graphics card worthy again. They just dont make cases with great ventilation like this so keep it as long as you can. I hear the 200mm fan at the top is hard to replace. It originally had a Pentium D in it...I'm showing my age now 🤣
@@bign1667 That's great to hear, at first I wanted to reuse it as well but then I thought nahh I'll just buy a new case as well. Video is on my channel of that new build. But the old system is rocking a q6600 with 8gb ddr2 1066mhz and a hd6870. Might reuse the case for a storage machine/server but i'm not sure yet. Reckon TH-cam compression ruins it. There's not really a way to hear what they do unless we go to the shop. Meh, that's not gonna happen. Wonder if they are crisp when playing full on goatrance or metal or some wicked gangster rap with the bass.
No its basically my camera that ffed this up. It cuts out the bass so you can still hear everything. But I can tell you I listen to hardcore, hardstyle, dubstep and all sorts of bassy music and now my neighbors do too =)

I haven't tried it, since I hardly ever use the ps3 anymore. But I guess you can connect it through optic and then get 5.1

There is no bluetooth on the device itself, if you want bluetooth you should buy a bluetooth receiver
I like this. It is smarter. I only hate how the centre speaker is a necessity. I wish that there were 2 speakers instead of the centre speaker because I use 3 devices on the same stereo system. So, I prefer the audio on all sources to be stereo rather than mono on the one connected to the centre speaker

this is awesome 5.1 surround sound speakers you getting over all 500w RMS, pros everyone knows....cons : No service center, if minor power fluctuation subwoofer make one noise bam!!!!... if you have warranty you will get replacement other wise garbage ......chk out the z906 power issues review you guys will come to know....so carefull on power fluctuation...have fun byeeee

amazon has a lot of bad reviews on these do they really not last ? i bought an off brand audio system for 89$ it just failed after 5 years so like wtf
I honestly dare not to say since I only have it for a couple of months now. Everything still is working properly. My brother bought one second hand and he's happy with it and all is working. So maybe some people had just bad luck
I bought this system 12 years ago, sold it to my brother, he still has it and it plays flawlessly both for games and movies! I got my hands on this system again for free!! Cant wait to install it again :D 10/10 definately!!!

About the same price =) you get a real banging system for the money!
You can pay as low as £140 ($120), but in current times that seems unlikely to happen. I got mine for £170 ($200) about 3 months ago and its worth every penny. Bass that punches you in the chest if you dont like your neighbours.

Yeah no problemo through spdif/toslink (optical), but you can also only connect it through your tv and pic up the signal from there =)
