This volume was probably the one that I have read the most, and I can't stop noticing the missing details compared to previous seasons and episodes. I don't usually feel that an episode was rushed, but this one felt like it. BUT.... if this is a sign that the dwarven kingdom arc only gets 3 episodes instead of the usual 4, then that means more episodes for volume 14, which I like even more.
the anime prolly just removed the ones that aren't that important as long as they put content enough for us to know the main focus or what they're really talking about. i personally like this way better than them having to actually change the important bits.
@@elyssa_141 Agreed. It just so happens that this has been my most read volume, so the differences were really apparent to me. I am also not that against with skipping content, as it could drag the pace way too slow and could just lead to boredom for non-LN readers.
@@eriponchi yeah. especially in the LN where like for example, there are lot of inner monologues and even situations that tends to get a bit stretchy even though we already get the whole point of it. i guess this is why we get a bit baffled(?) when we reach these scenes in the anime
I think charm magic was first used when Shalltear asked to the adventurer girl in the scene after Brain. It's when she (adventurer girl - I forgot her name) used a red potion against Shalltear, and then Shalltear asked about where she got it.
As an anime only, I felt that the episode was really fast paced and I enjoyed that alot. They might have cut out some stuff but that didn't take away too much from the story in my opinion. But it would be nice if they added in some of those cut scenes in the next episode

As an anime only, it was a little bit jarring that Gondo just was like “take my soul daddy” right away, but everything else in the episode made sense and was fine
Not really tbh. @@rafa.grunge.666 i agree. I think fact that he said "if my soul is enough to satisfy you" pretty much shows how passionate he was for runesmithing and his people/family.
It’s kind of sad that alot of the small scenes with Shalltear was cut out of the LN. There was a scene in the beginning, where Ainz called Shalltear and her first words were to ask if he needs a Gate opened. Ainz became ashamed of himself that Shalltear, the strongest floor Guardian, was demoted to just a teleporter for large groups (example: teleporting the warehouse in the Jaldabaoth incident or teleporting Ainz’ Army in the war against the Kingdom). So he’s committed to helping her grow beyond her limited use.
I was shocked to see them moving this fast, I was looking forward to ainz using his mind control magic, but well, if they are rushing these parts that only is there to make the actions of ainz make more sense, then i don't mind them cutting it, I just want them to do the main parts of story justice and have good animation for this season.
Honestly I kind of liked Demiurge’s short reaction and Gondo Firebeard’s short and honest explanation maybe in my mind I gave him a raspy voice which had a slight bitter tone when he was talking about his pride and legacy but they choice a good voice for him
As an anime only, I had zero complaints about the pacing (low-key, this may be my favorite episode of S4). I haven't read the LN for Overlord, but I have for other series. In Vampires, well at least in Shalltear, there are 3 types of ''Charm Magic'', all are similar but also different. First and the weakest is [ Suggestion ] pretty much self explained but it is used to lightly convey people into some ideas, this can be giving you information or doing somethings you want, it works as much as a random suggestion of a stranger or your own mind does. Second and the one used on this episode is [ Charm ] either Charm Person or Charm Species, which makes the target/targets view you as a close friend, they are more likely to listen to you, talk with you and be more open, but they wouldn't do anything they wouldn't for a close friend. Third and lastly [ Domination ] which was used on (ex-)adventurer Brita in Season 1. Which let's you completely dominate a persons mind, they will answer every question asked as much as they know it. The spell also doesn't allow them to be ''friendly'' with you, as you dominate their minds, you aren't really friends with them. While the strength of the spells go Domination > Charm > Suggestion, the spells can have different uses. Similarly Sebas have ''Charm Magic'' of his own called [ Hand/Palm of the Puppeteer ] , which is a Monk Class ability rather than a Vampiric Class ability, Palm of the puppeteer allows the user to do similar stuff like Charm and Domination, but it requires user to physically touch the target, while Charm, Domination and theoretically Suggestion, only needs eye contact. I added Suggestion too because while we didn't see Shalltear use it, since most of the spells are based on DnD, there Suggestion is a thing and it is the weakest form, and Charm is higher and sorry for my lack of DnD information but Domination doesn't exist in DnD, making Charm the strongest version, in DnD, while in Overlord there is Domination above it.
Well it's true that Overlord skips content pretty much but the main focus are shown in the anime. So I guess it's fine , though I hope we can get to see more of Ainz's inner dialogue. Judging from this ep and the rate it's going , I assume we get to see the frost dragons next ep or the following ep.
As someone that has only watched the anime, I'm really looking forward to reading the LNs as it will be like experiencing the overlord story for a second time.
I'm an anime only. And to be honest I understood the flow of scenes without any issue. The only thing from the anime that I'd not have known would have been the fact that Cocytus was thinking about Ainz's kids. But the whole mating thing was shown in the anime when he was Ainz was questioning about how kinky it all felt. And because yesterday I watched season 1 & 2 and am planning to start season 3 today, I saw the scene from season 1 episode 2 I think on the sixth floor with all the floor guardians summoned where Cocytus was thinking and being excited at the prospect of becoming an uncle so the kids thing about them riding him like a horsey make sense. Other than that, I don't think any of the stuff missed are anything major because the story is flowing really well. Like how you wanted them to convey how fateful that encounter between Ainz and the dwarf rune guy was. Because honestly you can tell easily by seeing how the city is abandoned and the only guy we meet there is our rune guy who just happened to be there doing some mining. So yeah overall love the videos.
Thank you big time for the episode breakdowns as an anime only watcher. Your details and passion on the missed points and things we could have missed has made watching this show more enjoyable!
This episode was pretty much up to the end of chapter two, with most of chapter one completely removed aside from the one flash back scene. All of the prologue was removed as you said. The first two chapters are mainly set up anyways, especially chapter one. I can see each of the remaining chapters (3, 4 and 5) each taking up an episode each.
im an anime only enjoyer and i wasnt confused at all almost, but you help me understand all the things "in between"(the things not mentioned in the anime). Thanks a lot
I read comments from other videos about them discussing how Demiurge was feeling towards Ainz when he went to conclude the report to Ainz but was instead met with Albedo. They said it has a slight difference, mostly due to how Demi-chan there, reacts upon hearing what Ainz accomplished with the declaration of Vassal State from the Empire because: 1. Objective Met, making the Empire a Vassal State. 2. The objective was met 3 days rather than several months or one that at least took a month. 3. The objective was met with no casualties from EITHER side, when compared that Demiurge's plan to cause havoc would probably lose some Nazarick's forces. 4. The objective was met with no losses from Nazarick and because in Demiurge's plan might require subjugating the Kingdom and thus lose it's people (in various ways). 5. The objective was met and it showcased the people in the Empire & remind the Empire of Ainz's power on how he fought the Martial King with little to no effort. Overall, it's a massive W, with not a single L taken (No F's given either...) and it boosted the status of Sorcerer King & Sorcerer Kingdom. So overall, it stomps over what Demi had planned. In terms of value, gains and loss, Ainz accomplished all that and gained a massive boost while losing none. It's like a big chess win with not a single Pawn of yours was destroyed.
After every episode I'm always excited for your videos, read the volume so long ago so most of the things are hazy and this is a very entertaining way to remember things
Great video man, appreciate your good work. The first time a charm spell was used was when shalltear Noticed the female adventurer holding a [Red Potion] that was handed by The adventurer Momon. I'm not a Ln reader however i do know somethings, and gotta be honest, this episodes do be bussin, they are really hitting it with the music and story, even thou some things are cutted out i can still feel the coherent narrative. But i do like to fill it up with useful lore videos such as yours. And as such please keep up the good work. I will love to see your comentary on episode 6 as well ;D
I'm an anime only watcher and I agree with most of the other comments. So far the flow of the plot is enjoyable and not so hard to follow. But I admit I wouldn't have understood how funny the ainz and jircniv coincidence meeting was if I didnt heard about it online beforehand. Also I've only read the LN with the lizardmen arc, before it was covered in the anime, and just from that I understand how much more epic the LN could be. The writing for nazarick's messenger to the lizardmen and the fight with the elder lich seemed so grim and catastrophic in the LN I couldnt help but feel a bit let down when the adaptation came. Just shows how much people can miss out on from just watching the anime, which is why I have mad respect for you to be sharing all these bits of lore and interactions from having read the LN. Especially for people like me who's not much of a reader hahaha. Thanks a lot for the content my dude, really appreciate it!
As an Anime only, I have 0 complaints about the pacing. A lot of the cut content you have mentioned makes sense to me why it was cut. While detail and extra context is very nice, there are times when its not needed to move the plot forward at a steady pace. In my mind We have to keep pace with the previous episodes as well. And I personally think that is what the anime adaption is doing. Keeping a solid pace with the series as a whole and not having slow downs in any particular part.
I mostly missing when ainz call message to shaltear and her response was "where i should open a gate" and ainz feel unbelivably guilty to push her to this point.
if every manga/LN will get a full anime that will cover all the story it will be amazing but in realty this is what we got and we need to enjoy it to the fullest
Really loving the reviews, breakdowns and explanations but it would be really nice to hear more explanations on your personal thoughts on any actual threats that ainz might face in the future (if there even is any). After watching gigguks latest vid and him saying how overlord has had 4 seasons but nothing really dire happens made me realize that the story pacing i guess is quite slow even tho i love overlord. Keep up the good work!
As an anime-only watcher, i wasnt really confused at all, except for specific details in the LN. Tho i usually watch these kinds of videos to get a more in-depth understanding of the story as i also process what they show in the anime.
When they mentioned that Momonga gotta have a higher reason to personally go to the dwarvs, i was just thinking: Yeah, he probably just wants to check if the female dwarfs got beards in this world
As an anime watcher I was a little lost on why there was one dwarf who happened to be the perfect person there that prologue scene would have been nice to have but hey that’s why I am glad this channel is here
As an anime watcher only. I'm happy to report from season 1 to season 4 it never feels like I'm missing something except how they meet with Princess Renner the first time
I sort of read the overlord wiki sometimes and partially spoil myself, and I'm an anime only, this episode was not confusing to me at all personally, since I've also watched your videos, I knew the ongoing demi-human attacks on neighboring nations, and you mentioned Hanzos and Quagoa before. Overall, not confusing of an episode, and filled with a lot of plot advancement imo.
For anime only the anime is fine but for LN readers they r upset because all their favorite scenes r cut. I wish they cut the opening and ending song when they start and finishing new volumes so we can get more content, theirs no need for OPENING and ENDING song for every episode.
As someone who is anime only i thought the episode was still great and despite missing some content that you mentioned here i still understood everything that was going on to the level that you explained it here. Maybe we missed some smaller details about characters but it didnt take away from them i think.
Yeah. In LN it's mentioned that Ainz isn't a good PvPer but he is good at strategizing and during Arena PvP he would throw the first round to figure out opponent's strengths and weaknesses and then use that knowledge to steamroll in subsequent rounds. That's why the guild built Nazarick the way it is to allow Ainz to analyse and develop ways to overcome invaders
As an anime only it’s was very smooth episode. I didn’t think anything was cut at all. It was a very funny episode actually but the ending was kinda abrupt but that happens in most anime sometimes. Love your cut content by the way keep it up
I just started reading the novels and started on volume 11. I forgot how good reading was, I was intimidated and lazy to read the Light Novels. But after getting into it after the last episode. It's so good! I can't believe I pushed it off for so long. The books are packed with details. I wish they could include it all but maybe someday in the future they can make extra content easier and make a proper recreation of the story. But what we have now is still awesome. After reading up to midway before the episode aired, I gotta say I'm hype for this season! I keep hearing how good volume's 12-14 are so I'm gonna enjoy reading and catching up with the rest of y'all!
At 11:00 I believe Aura felt upset not only ebcause Shalltear had to die, but because in the end, she was kinda guilty too, since Ainz doubted for a moment in using the cash shop item, so Aura had to use her Taunt skill (the eye that appeared behind Shalltear) to prevent her from striking Ainz.
As just an anime watcher i dont get confused but it is much better watching your vids to understand the things i have missed and that can sometimes help with understanding the story better. I was a bit confused when ains left Alberto and Demi to the vessel state problem but i thought of it as him leaving it to them as they are much smarter the him and understand politics better. (Sorry if i miss-spelt anything!!)
i watch anime only and i feel like the anime is satisfying by itself, it doesnt really confuse me, but sometimes cause its been so long i need to google like whos fluder? whos nigredo? and things like that but overall its still good. but hearing your view on the light novel is just an icing on the cake, it makes so much depht to the story and i like it
I'm an anime-only watcher and this might be my fav episode so far actually. I'm really liking the set-up and the comedy was on point. There was nothing too confusing for me at least
I think it's possible that they'll rearrange things (for the dwarves) such that the conditions the dwarves and especially Gondo were in will be explored more in the next few episodes
Shalltear used a form of charm magic on a adventure to find out how the adventure girl got a red potion and luring she got it from aniz in his adventure armor
Hi Zero, as you was saying while i was watching the anime cause im only a "anime only" type of person there are points that i didnt understand but thank to your videos the information that the anime is lacking is being filled. Thank you for your videos and im waiting for your future videos 😊
I'm telling you, Ains is basically King from one punch man. Extremely lucky when in reality he doesn't really know what he's doing, but because he's so lucky everyone around him thinks he says amazing strategist that is untouchable.
People keep saying that demiurges plan would take 1 month, thats actually the amount of time it would have taken demiurge if he had Ainz working for him to subjugate the empire. Without Ainz he thought it would take about a year. So the amazement at 3 days is that demiurges best plan with ainz would take a month.
I think they're rushing it because I'm pretty sure they're going to put Volume 14 in the season 4 cuz there's a leak image in a discard of Helma being mind control.
Well, seeing how/where this week's episode ended, I'm concerned about next week's episode. Especially how they will handle the introduction of "Lord of the Clans", similar to what they did to Gondo Firebeard, undermining the importance of these two characters in the future of the Sorcerous Kingdom.
I’m an anime only watcher, but I wasn’t really confused. I just didn’t notice certain details because of the lack of prior knowledge that would have me notice it. Like the whole thing with Climb being spared.
SASUGA! A-hem. I agree, the skipped content wasn't integral, but certainly adds more of course. For example, I was really hoping to see the shrine the Lizardmen built for Ainz, showing that he's literally worshipped as a god. They 'kinda' alluded to this with Aura praying to bukubukuchagama but the fact that new worlders (and guardians) view the "supreme beings" as literal gods of creation (and death, in Ainz' case) could really be explored more imo.
Like I stated previously, I do believe that the anime incites anime only fans to read the light novel. Subtle hints to within the anime to encourage reading, for instance the fact that Ainz is usually reading in his room and encouraging Fluder to transcribe the Book of the Dead.
1:50 to be specific, he doesn't care much for runes, but its one of few technologies found in Yggdrasil and players could've introduced it and/or continue living as dwarfs in nw. and because of how unused it was even in Yggdrasil, having prior knowledge of it he can use it as a strategic advantage, i think at some point he mentioned that crafting new weapons is hard as it requires the magic data crystals he has limited number of vs runecrafting that only consumes mana and permanently affects the objects. im more upset about them cutting out ainz new robes for the day.
what i hate about modern anime is the 12-13 episode format, when it comes to very detailed light novel story the anime adaptation should be at least 24 episode per season to get every story details, back in season 1-3 a lot of small things got skip like info on demiurge's "happy farm" and yes it is messed up i know, but i still want others who doesn't read the LN to know every bit of the story.
As a LN reader, I think the cut content is okay because that’s just too much internal dialogues, it’ll be whole episodes of nothing really happening. I’m glad they speed up the pacing here
As an anime only I still find the episodes really good they flow very nicely. Im not trying to say all this info they cut out is unimportant but their omission doesn't seem to do much. They do a good job of internal dialogue eventhough it is only ainz's thoughts
Anime only here and I definitely feel like something's missing once in a while like a breathing room between scenes and scenes that focus only on the new-worlders for this episode. And it's a plus cause I get to see people like you explain it in detail about what scenes are missing just so I can squeeze more world-building plot from the story.
I'm hoping Zero reads this, despite the video being 2 months old, and I may post this again on a more recent video, but: Something people seem to always forget is that the rules of magic in the new world are different than from when Ainz was just a player. In this new world it's been shown that spells like Wish are far more powerful, instead of being given options, the user can basically wish for whatever they want. It's also suggested, if not just outright said that the spell cap/limit is practically non-existent. Essentially, all the limitations set by the system of the game have been changed or removed completely, so although Ainz may not have had a good pvp build in Yggdrasil, his build's capabilities have changed, as we see many times he is caught off-guard by some of his items or abilities being more powerful or operating entirely differently than they should. And I think that's enough said, I'm confident that you watchers of the show and readers of the manga most certainly can think of more examples aswell.
As an anime only: I'm trying to find LN volumes to start reading, but none to be found. :( But anyway.... I was sad at how quick this episode went. I felt that this episode should have been two instead of one... Maybe just an hour long. It's nice to come to your channel and be retrofitted with missing knowledge, which gives me another reason to rewatch said episode. ;)
As a anime watcher. I didn't feel like it was rushed. I love the anime. And I like coming here. To get more of the lore and back ground that they took out. Can't wait for the movie tho. 🤯

After every episode I'm always excited for your videos, read the volume so long ago so most of the things are hazy and this is a very entertaining way to remember things
these videos help me through the week with my overlord addiction until the next episode drops lmao
I'm a anime only and this episode didn't feel rushed at all it actually grabbed my attention rather quickly and got me excited for a new arc
I REALLY LOVE HOW YOU EXPLAIN IT BRO....makes me wanna listen more!!!
Overlord may be over but I'm here to enjoy this backlog of content
I was waiting for your video man thank youuuu
Dang dude you're on the ball. Thank you for your diligence. Great channel great enthusiasm!
"Shallchair vs Couchcytus"
🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 Nice words!
loving all the content man, really glad as you seem super happy doing these videos
As an anime-only watcher, i wasnt really confused at all, except for specific details in the LN. Tho i usually watch these kinds of videos to get a more in-depth understanding of the story as i also process what they show in the anime.
I wasn't confused but I've been watching overlord lore videos. I like that u explain what's missing. Keeps me watching ur vids.....🤟
I'm happy to report from season 1 to season 4 it never feels like I'm missing something except how they meet with Princess Renner the first time
HELL YES! I've been waiting for you
I plan to start reading LN by next week, when I finish reading Spirit chronicles
Love your cut content by the way keep it up
I wish they’d included the bit where Albedo tells Demiurge that there were zero casualties in that 3 day empire trip
Man it was so cool to see the Hanzos! They are so useful.
I love that "genius" move from ainz to jerv xD anyway hope u do that ln vs anime stuff for s1 to s3
(Sorry if i miss-spelt anything!!)
i watch anime only and i feel like the anime is satisfying by itself, it doesnt really confuse me, but sometimes cause its been so long i need to google like whos fluder? whos nigredo? and things like that but overall its still good. but hearing your view on the light novel is just an icing on the cake, it makes so much depht to the story and i like it
I love seeing Shalltears growth.
Really enjoying these vids bro! Well done!!
I only watch the anime so it's really cool to hear the missed stuff
Shalltear used a form of charm magic on a adventure to find out how the adventure girl got a red potion and luring she got it from aniz in his adventure armor
As a sole anime watcher I think the pacing this season is great and I’m excited to see where the show goes
Congrats on the 20k!
Hi Zero, as you was saying while i was watching the anime cause im only a "anime only" type of person there are points that i didnt understand but thank to your videos the information that the anime is lacking is being filled. Thank you for your videos and im waiting for your future videos 😊
6:10 I remember seeing a scene like that back in either season 1 or 2.
They completly removed how Ainz read Zemberu's memorys
I'm telling you, Ains is basically King from one punch man. Extremely lucky when in reality he doesn't really know what he's doing, but because he's so lucky everyone around him thinks he says amazing strategist that is untouchable.
Notification squad
People keep saying that demiurges plan would take 1 month, thats actually the amount of time it would have taken demiurge if he had Ainz working for him to subjugate the empire. Without Ainz he thought it would take about a year. So the amazement at 3 days is that demiurges best plan with ainz would take a month.
I loved this episode! Best one so far from this season.
I think they're rushing it because I'm pretty sure they're going to put Volume 14 in the season 4 cuz there's a leak image in a discard of Helma being mind control.
Excellent video, awesome content 🍻
Well, seeing how/where this week's episode ended, I'm concerned about next week's episode. Especially how they will handle the introduction of "Lord of the Clans", similar to what they did to Gondo Firebeard, undermining the importance of these two characters in the future of the Sorcerous Kingdom.
As an anime only, I didn’t have any problems with the episode. Didn’t really notice fast pace either, but it’s def nice to hear about all the cuts
I’m an anime only watcher, but I wasn’t really confused. I just didn’t notice certain details because of the lack of prior knowledge that would have me notice it. Like the whole thing with Climb being spared.
I like your videos before even watching ❤️
I remember leading up to this episode I listened to the Audiobook of v1-14 and oh boy
SASUGA!
I’m glad they speed up the pacing here
I'm more afraid of Demiurge now more than ever, thanks to Albedo, he is now more radical than ever and will thinking bigger.
As an anime only I still find the episodes really good they flow very nicely. Im not trying to say all this info they cut out is unimportant but their omission doesn't seem to do much. They do a good job of internal dialogue eventhough it is only ainz's thoughts
These titles from different youtubers from this episode is killing me 🤣
We actually saw the lizard men in season 3. They were there when hamsuke fought the intruders.
I wished this season had covered just 2 LNs or had at least 20 episodes.
I think this episode was such an advertisement for the LN cause I'm super interested in what is missing
For people that dont know, Momonga is a RP build.
would love to see a video on the Abelion hills specifically about the demi-human species that occupy it.
Anime only here and I definitely feel like something's missing once in a while like a breathing room between scenes and scenes that focus only on the new-worlders for this episode.
And it's a plus cause I get to see people like you explain it in detail about what scenes are missing just so I can squeeze more world-building plot from the story.
I agree with you it weird they remove it, but i think they will show it in the next episode with the introduction of the dwarf kindoms
Anime only here:
I am really liking this season, not t confused on the passing however I do watch a fair bit of cut content type videoos.
I haven’t read the book in like 2-3 years But I think he was talking about his build being high middle tier
I'm hoping Zero reads this, despite the video being 2 months old, and I may post this again on a more recent video, but:
Something people seem to always forget is that the rules of magic in the new world are different than from when Ainz was just a player.
I think the first time when charm magic was used was by clementine when she was killing some people in E-rantel.
Lulu's baby a shown. 10/10 episode because of that.
Ainz doesn’t want to bring the homunculus maids because they’re weak… so instead brings the vampires… instead of his literal battle maids
