I loved how the dwarven council acted all tough during their meeting with Ainz but once he left the room they lost their nerve, the i almost pissed myself had my laughing hard.
That last scene where Ainz reminisces about Ninya is so depressing and sad because it leads right into the end song and it's just perfectly timed!😢 hits you right in the feels
Minor spoiler. There is a part where Ainz sushes Aura. This happens when they are on the other side of the great rift. Ainz is lecturing to Shalltear and Aura is looking on the ground. She deduces that there are no signs of the death knights on the other side. When she wants to bring this up, Ainz sushes her, and so she shuts up. Aura realizes that there may be another reason and then pretends to go along with Ainz on the theory that there is a powerful being that killed the Death Knights.
Yeah, I was surprised it wasn't mentioned. Basically Aura thought Ains was training Shalltear how to be careful after her mishap from the 1st season. Aura thought Ains was faking, not knowing where the Deathknights were.
Yep she knew the death knights fell to their deaths. Just not saying anything so Ainz can save face. I like Ainz but he's wildly incompetent when it come to anything not related to the game his old job
You actually nailed it on the part wherein the anime is more on the 3rd person pov of how things are happening while the LN is with Ainz's. I think that's the reason why LN readers who don't like the anime didn't like how the anime is just steamrolling this whole arc. There were a few left out details but I think the anime's focus is mostly on the things unraveling with Ainz there. I'm quite scared with how they'll do the Holy Kingdom arc because the LN is not Ainz's pov
excellent review and insight. Special thanks for being cognizant of spoilers. Really looking forward to the coming episodes. Wouldn't they have hit a few roaming bands of baddies on their way through the three perilous areas? or were they just too perilous.... Really appreciated Ainz being the new Patron of Runesmiths... That's how you build loyalty.... What a Great Boss!
Nope, they go through those areas like they're nothing lol. There's no one there, the only real risk is a high-ish level creature in the lava but they don't disturb it so nothing happens.
No. PDL is different. The fight you're referring to will most likely happen on the later episodes of the season. The frost dragon is the one who orders the Quagoa and the one who took over the dwarven kingdom. And the one who'll "fight" Ainz.
14:30 I also thought it was interesting how in the anime when he thought to himself about ninya it was in Ains voice, not momongas voice, dunno if that was intentional but to me that signifies him seeing himself more as actually the overlord character and not as his human body
Always enjoy the recap and analysis! Thanks for the breakdown! I’ve enjoyed the season so far, and naturally prefer the LN to the show but I do appreciate how close they’re sticking to the events of the novels, in a more general sense that is. I’m curious just how much they’ll end up keeping in from this arc in the books.
first time viewing your video and only subscribing cause of the description of the ln involving the materials the dwarves can produce and ains taking over had me laughing so hard for a solid minute i had to rewatch lmao.
This is the series that got me into your channel. I enjoy your analysis and you're very quick making these awesome content too. Loving it, keep up this incredible stuff!
I, honestly, am so happy you fill us in with light novel details. I like how the season is unfolding so far and I love the anime but I tried to read the light novel and there's so much going on in there 😂 I like just sticking to Momonga & his adventures. I definitely want to hear about the cut content tho so please keep us filled in 👍🏾 Edit: I thought there were actually 20 runes on that sword 😂 there he goes again fumbling his way through the story but literally inspiring others 😂😂😂 I love it
no one trusts undead 13:10 don't anger ainz otherwise ainz will start tryhard gamer mode lol, but its nice that he really really loves everyone in nazerick
i'm curious how they will deal with the dwarf council since in the light novel the head of the smiths literally takes that lvl 45 metal and just skips town and the council just loose there shit over it also whuile the elf kingdom part is important we really don't need to see any of that yet till season 5 (gonna love how they do that arc since mare travels to that kingdom with the biggest trap uniform ever it's on the cover of book 16 if anyone is intested)
Based on the comments I see. Alot of the anime watchers HATE world building. They wants action and almost nothing else. I'm an anime only viewer but I actually really love the depth of this world. To the point that I actually might for the first time ever, get the LN to really immerse myself in the lore. Last book I read was the halo series because I liked the story line (stopped playing after reach) but I digress. I think the show runners know anime only viewers want action so they are trying to thread the needle and cover enough of the lore so you arent completely lost but getting to the fight scenes

I haven’t read a book in 10-15 years. Went to Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago and bought Volume 11 of the LN to follow along with the rest of this Season….Best decision I made this year. I highly recommend everyone does the same.
I like city builder anime, characters and stuff are a fine but I love seeing a kingdoms grow. And I like the different peoples talking and convening with each other and overlord is top tier for that type of stuff and world building in it is great
Thank you for making these videos and referencing the books! I got the LN's for volume's 10-14 off Google play and I gotta say I'm enjoying them just as much as the anime. Especially as I play the soundtrack from the show on loop for certain scenes. Seeing these videos got me really itching to read the books. Like there's so much detail! I really enjoyed reading the volume 11. Although I gotta say I just got into reading volume 12 and I was kinda put off by the way they introduced new characters. I'm kinda new to reading novels like this so it took a second for me to visualize all the characters and them interacting. (Spoilers; only for them to not really last too long) I'm hype to continue reading though! It's crazy what Demiurge does like OMG. Still haven't gotten far so don't spoil it too much lol.
I find the differences in your view of Ainz and Chibi Reviews version of him. He sees him as a "bad guy" and you, like me, see him as someone thrust into a position unexpectantly and needs to defend himself and his friends and allies but doesn't regard others on the same level but isn't exactly out to destroy anyone that doesn't want to harm him. I mean I'm sure he has the power to take over all the world by force, but he's being careful and diplomatic. Edit: said "AniNews" instead of Chibi Reviews by accident
Am I the only one who found the sword/ore Ainz side plot in the books was most intriguing, and the forgemaster disappearing from the dwarven kingdom after going mad failing to be able to melt it down, though the sword was left behind making this a unsolved mystery. Since it was omitted from the tv show, I'm worried it's a story beat that never gets resolved in the books.
Ayo, u gonna make a video about current LN topics too? I think its quite a shame that Myuama decided to cut the ending of this series short. Feels like there is a lot left to tell and this slow burn at the start of the series rly doesnt get paid off except for a tripping power fantasy. What r ur toughts?
The animation seems better. That fight with the death knights was so much better than some of the older animations lol. With having read the novels (im only on book 6atm.) And seeing how they are adapting the books. Are you excited or nervous for the movie?
Where the hell are my BEARDED FEMALE DWARVES?!?! Can we just sit down and contemplate the insane universe that Maruyama created? There's so much freaking lore behind it, the 13 Heros could have their own spin-off, wich would be very close to an isekai story inside the Overlord universe, the whole 6 gods saving humanity and establishing their rule and then their eventual downfall against the 8GKs. Maruyama really created a gold mine, but unfortunately, just like Yggdrasil, it's coming to a depressing end.
I know! Like just the many plot points that Maruyama deliberately left open ended could’ve made great content for later volumes. There was still quite a bit about Overlord’s world and build up of mysteries that we may never get answered. Like who took Clementine’s body and will she show up to expose Momon as Ainz? Will the Jewel of Death try to get revenge on Ainz for downgrading it to Hamsuke’s chew toy? Will Fluder reading the Book of the Dead turn him into an elder lich? Will we ever see the Catastrophe Dragon Lord? Are there really no other players out in the New World besides Momonga(Ainz)? The world of Overlord is just too vast and full of potential to simply end at Volume 17. I know it’s Maruyama’s decision, but it feels like it’s still too soon for the series to conclude. Like maybe it should have an open ending so that way he could come back to it if he wanted to. However I feel that would be even more dissatisfying since it’s unlikely Maruyama would have the passion to come back to writing Overlord.😢
@@jacobjohnson8635 Yeah, it's sad that it will end soon. But apparently Maruyama said that Overlord could easily be around 50 volumes but doesn't want to do that. Also, because of the behaviour of the fandom, he punishes the fandom through sortening the amount of volumes that will be released, ending the story faster
@John Dela Cruz Well, I understand how toxic a fanbase can get especially towards the creator of the series. So I can’t say I blame him for trying to punish fans that give him crap. It still sucks for other people of the fanbase that just want to know what all the directions Maruyama’s story is going before it’s conclusion.
@@john.10347 he's not punishing anyone, the guy has been saying he wants Overlord done for years, the volumes being lowered has been a thing since before the fandom started "annoying" him, he just wants to write something new, go back to his regular salaryman job and according to him "raise some pigs". The whole "angry at his fans" comes from us reading fan translations instead of the Japanese ones or the English ones, wich come so late compared to the releases AND are in a lot of cases badly translated (not giving the flavor that fan translations do/no love), his "anger" mostly comes from fans translating stuff that never leaves Japan, a good example is Keno's side story, wich was a limited bonus given to some people that purchased something I don't remember rn, that was never officially translated, he got pissed because the fans wanted to consume more of his work, cry me a river! It doesn't hell that yenpress has stopped the official translations, there won't be Volume 15, 16, 17 and 18 officially translated and Maruyama doesn't care about that, so, the fans will do that job and he's gonna get pissed even more, but again, that's just an excuse, like I said, they guy is tired and wants to do something else, he has been at it for 10 years, so it's quite understandable.
@xX Valtiel Xx Thank you for the clarification, but I’m surprised to here that future volumes aren’t being officially translated by Yen Press. I understand why he would be upset with unofficial translations of his work, but I don’t like not being able to read said work. Especially since details from the specials are added to the canon story, like the giant basilisk or the dryads from the evil tree storyline. However I more than understand Maruyama’s desire to move on from Overlord after writing the same story for over a decade.
I feel like they did Ainz dialogue dirty here. Like with battle of Katze plain, at least his dialogue still instil that fear and awe, here it is reaaaallly watered down and wasnt that convincing to be considered inspiring. (persuasiveness mostly hinged on him being fking terrifying tho) They showed Ainz is still really smart though. Or at least competent in his thinking and have a nuanced view of politic. It is just that he is nothing compare to Albedo and our happy farm manager :P.
- the elf king is such an evil douchebag it makes almost anyone else in the whole story so far seem at least neutral, if not good - yeah lol I missed the whole ingot thing, I wanted to see the forge master freaking the hell out 🤣 - the discussion among the dwarves was pretty much completely cut out, I wish they had showed it. This episode was the first time I felt like they rushed it too much, but I guess they wanted to make enough time for the fights later on - that Ninia flashback was great, it wasn't in the LN but I think it was a really great touch.
While it is often portrayed to get a laugh, I'm not sure the only point is that the Ainz/Momon is clueless. There are many characters in the show that have far-reaching effects from charisma or an understanding that is based on off-target assumptions by themself & others. Demiurge & several rulers in the stories have similar situations: less like a bug, more like a feature. Also it makes sense that the interlude chapter wouldn't be here. It is not a small task, especially with current complications, to contract a new set of voice actors & still have them available for episodes much later to keep consistency. We might see it as an opening act to elvish parts unknown if we get there in the future.
Great video, but I had a questions you or someone else may be able to answer, as a light novel reader might know. In the anime, Ninya was the only one left alive after the attack by Clementine, but if you search up it says that she died so I wanted to know if they finished her off or if it was a mistake?
Um I don’t know where you got the info the Ninya was alive after Clementine’s attack but Clementine killed Ninya. It was a pretty brutal death from what Ainz saw. That’s why Ainz killed Clementine slowly as payback.
Thanks for the answer, I might have accidently deleted your comment but it was in the dub episode where eins finds Ninya and say "why leave only him alive" (this was seconds before we found out Ninya was a girl) so thank you for clearing it up for me.
is the light novel for volume 15 and 16 out yet or just the manga?? i’ve read up to chapter 14 and i need to read the rest but idk where how or even if those chapters are out
Ainz giving away "worthless" items to new worlders is like a lvl 20 RotMG player dropping t3-t4 specials (tomes, quiver, etc.) and t7-t8 armor to newbies.
I'm wondering about death knights' demise. It was said in the blu-ray special that they have passive that allows them to survive one lethal attack with 1 HP. Is fall damage not counted as an attack and it bypasses the passive? If so, wouldn't Ainz be confused by them being oneshot despite having such passive? I feel like this fact is being omitted for some reason.
yeah that is why ains likes death knights so much because of that passive but i believe that fall damage does bypass it and i believe that ainz is just being ainz and other thinking everything
I think he doesn't get any notifications of lethal attacks. If he just knows it when they die a player could get them to 1 health with lethal damage then kill them at the same and time he would only get notifications after they truly die.
The anime feels like - 60% overlord fast paced + cgi - novels on the other hand are - 100% overlord . It's so sad they are doing the story so much injustice 😑.
Unless your in japan, you won't be able to get them physically. Vol. 14 FINALLY got officially translated in the U.S. for me a month ago so you'll have to wait.
@@honyopenyoko7933 correct. Vol 14 was out for a while but is FINALLY getting its proper translation and release as a book. The same will apply for these volumes too.
i didn't understand one thing . After the dwarf counil whatever asked him if their fellow dwarfs will be turned into slaves n Ainz rejected their hypostesis , he said to himself that he doesn't want to turn like HeroHero . What did he mean by that ? What did HeroHero do ?
I believe that refers to HeroHero in real life. In the LN, Ainz talked about at one point that HeroHero worked for a "black company" which is a Japanese term for a business that has extremely bad conditions and overworks their employees. Basically Ainz was saying that he doesn't want people under him to turn into HeroHero. In Season 3 he also had some thoughts like this by forcing the NPCs to take breaks and stuff since he thought they worked way too hard.
we defentily going to get the elf king scene at the end of the season or a end credit scene at the end of the movie. for a tv show it would be horrible writing to put that in a middle of a season than you don't see anything about it a season or 2 later. It like if we saw a teaser about the dwarven mining in season 2 than don't see anything about it till now
____________SPOILER ___________ Hope the spacing works , to avoid spoilers , But I really hope they do something similar to what they have done in the novel with this last episode if volume 12 , that is start the episode with the teen dragon perspective and them show he witness Shalltears battler and going back to the nest of his parents and talking about how fuck up they are before Ainz coming up for the final "fight" against the dragon ruler and them we have time for elaborate volume 14 with the war in the kingdom up to episode 13 without the need to rush too much. . I think 5 episodes to make a full war plus the introduction of several new characters it's good enough . so things don't be too rush in , especially with the Very likely possibility of this being the last season for possible at least 4 to 5 years
I loved how the dwarven council acted all tough during their meeting with Ainz but once he left the room they lost their nerve, the i almost pissed myself had my laughing hard.

I hope they will put it in next episode bc that can be important part in the future.
I wonder if the author forgot about him too we never hear from him again
Elf kingdom stuff might appear as end of season epilogueteaser.
That Ninya scene at the end was quite the gut punch, unexpected.

@xX Valtiel Xx
Thank you for the clarification, but I’m surprised to here that future volumes aren’t being officially translated by Yen Press.
(persuasiveness mostly hinged on him being fking terrifying tho)
They showed Ainz is still really smart though. Or at least competent in his thinking and have a nuanced view of politic. It is just that he is nothing compare to Albedo and our happy farm manager :P.
OVER-PEAK SEASON 4
- the elf king is such an evil douchebag it makes almost anyone else in the whole story so far seem at least neutral, if not good
- yeah lol I missed the whole ingot thing, I wanted to see the forge master freaking the hell out 🤣
- the discussion among the dwarves was pretty much completely cut out, I wish they had showed it. This episode was the first time I felt like they rushed it too much, but I guess they wanted to make enough time for the fights later on
- that Ninia flashback was great, it wasn't in the LN but I think it was a really great touch.
They should animate the frost giants since the dragons and the giants r the strongest species in the mountains
03:44 Bone Daddy! 🧐
I would like to read the light novel right now.
Hey Ainz, about the Death knights... SHUSH!
Anyways Aura what were you going to say?
Where'd you get the map @ 1:01?
Out of all the op Mc anime I've watched overlord does it best hands down
What was Aura going to say to Ainz while Ainz was talking to shalltear at the end?
great episode!
Anyone heard the godzilla roar they gave the death knights? Lmao
Elves are the fashion show “tall and pretty”
Dwarf’s are your party boy / frat guys 🎉
Sup enjoy the videos can you think about kingdom anime
is the light novel for volume 15 and 16 out yet or just the manga?? i’ve read up to chapter 14 and i need to read the rest but idk where how or even if those chapters are out
Fantastic.
Ainz giving away "worthless" items to new worlders is like a lvl 20 RotMG player dropping t3-t4 specials (tomes, quiver, etc.) and t7-t8 armor to newbies.
The katana in the background tho
Are we getting a season 5?
nice t shirt
I’m actually pissed about the elf king I really really want to see how he looks like in the anime i’m still hoping they’ll sneak him in somehow🤞🏾
i would like to see more
I’m confused where ever I look I can’t find a place to buy overlord volumes 15 and sixteen does anyone know her I can buy them
Unless your in japan, you won't be able to get them physically. Vol. 14 FINALLY got officially translated in the U.S. for me a month ago so you'll have to wait.
@@josephcrickmore2690 so is volume 15 only in japan rn written in japanese??
@@honyopenyoko7933 well what's on TH-cam now in the form of audiobooks are fan translations of vol 15 and 16.
@@josephcrickmore2690 wait so the english translations of the ln won’t be out for some time?
@@honyopenyoko7933 correct. Vol 14 was out for a while but is FINALLY getting its proper translation and release as a book. The same will apply for these volumes too.
Is it just me or does the death knight's scream sound like Godzilla?
Wait a minute, I thought that Death Knight can’t be 1 hit?? Why did they die from the fall?
i didn't understand one thing .
In Season 3 he also had some thoughts like this by forcing the NPCs to take breaks and stuff since he thought they worked way too hard.
ah i see . Thanks for clarifying it . Really wish we had more of the other supreme beings information presented in the anime .
When the OVA comes out, the analysis video is going to be an hr long 😂
I really like the fact that in this Anime dwarfs love whine or alcohol it's very funny it's like the Lord of the rings and The hobbit
i dont understand how overlord is gonna end at volume 19 or 20 at this pint
your the best!
we defentily going to get the elf king scene at the end of the season or a end credit scene at the end of the movie. for a tv show it would be horrible writing to put that in a middle of a season than you don't see anything about it a season or 2 later. It like if we saw a teaser about the dwarven mining in season 2 than don't see anything about it till now
did you ever watch the lelouch of the resurrection movie with your dad?
Please talk about episodes 7 and 8 leaks😔
What chapter in LN?
____________SPOILER ___________
Hope the spacing works , to avoid spoilers , But I really hope they do something similar to what they have done in the novel with this last episode if volume 12 , that is start the episode with the teen dragon perspective and them show he witness Shalltears battler and going back to the nest of his parents and talking about how fuck up they are before Ainz coming up for the final "fight" against the dragon ruler and them we have time for elaborate volume 14 with the war in the kingdom up to episode 13 without the need to rush too much. . I think 5 episodes to make a full war plus the introduction of several new characters it's good enough . so things don't be too rush in , especially with the Very likely possibility of this being the last season for possible at least 4 to 5 years
I am so scared of the movie's adaptation
Grasp heart 🤜❤️
