    Thx bro, I'm 15 and just bought a 2004 Honda Civic that won't go past 60 mph. I watched this vid and then cleaned the throttle and the mass airflow sensor. After that I changed the fuel filter, and the car ran like new. My dad took it on the freeway and I asked him if it had any problems after hitting 60 mph and he was like "No, why?". I was like "YES" imma sell this car and make a profit thx bro I appreciate it!

      How was your experience doing your fuel filter? I need to tackle mine in my ‘04 but it seems like a major project seeing as the fuel pump is built into the gas tank under the back seat….

    Been searching everywhere to find a schematic on how that rubber grommet (between the air intake bottom casing and the throttle body) was situated when I started taking things apart to clean throttle body and some sensors. Was very glad to see its reassembly was a part of your video as it helped me FINALLY get it reinstalled correctly, thank you!

    I just did this to my 93 Caddy it was idling rough and hesitating a bit, cleaned that throttle plate and IAC motor out, she runs smooth as silk now. The blue Caddy has same issue but is TBI with DFI so it will be harder to get around injectors to clean the throttle plates. Good video this is something people overlook a lot. People use injector cleaner in the fuel tank which will help clean a TBI (throttle body) because injectors spray on things inside the including the throttle plates ..PFI doesn't so the plates gum up and cause issues.

  • @AlphaMachina
    @AlphaMachina 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm reading that you shouldn't clean your throttle body unless it's sticking. That the throttle body will always get dirty again because of a worn engine, and it can cause more harm than good. As the engine wears, cylinder wall clearances get larger, piston rings don't seal as well, and there is more blow-by during engine operation. Blow-by is the combustion gases that leak past the piston rings; it’s what is mainly responsible for the buildup of gunk in your intake. The more worn your engine, the more blow-by you have. The more blow-by you have, the more gunk buildup in the intake and throttle body assembly.
    That being said, it probably wouldn't be a bad to clean out the intake box. No telling what's in there. And I think I'll clean my throttle body anyway. To say not to clean it because it'll keep getting dirty is like saying you shouldn't sweep your floor because you'll just track more dirt onto it. Kind of a silly thought-process.

    A mouse ate my filter on this car completely and stuff got sucked into the intake. It's at the mechanics right now and they claim they are cleaning out the intake. How screwed am I? Had to get it towed there because whenever I started the car, it would keep revving higher and wouldn't shift out of park.
    The car is also 23 years old in a Northern state. I have a bad feeling this might be it with all the rust and rotting rubber.
