Let me know what is your 35-50mm lens of choice and what you use them for. So how do you feel about this lens for studio work like this? For me its a keeper but the size surely makes for a big kit if you end up with other art lenses like I currently have.
Lovely video! I can't understand how so little people is subscribed to your channel, you definitely deserve more. Will you make a gallery of photos at large resolution available from this shoot?
Thank you very much for that. I normally add a download link to the raw files of the comparison videos like me next one which will be this lens vs the Batis 40mm that way the viewers can examing the raw files and compare side by side on their own screen. Thanks again!!
@@addieleman as soon as I get back from my trip around July 10th I will get that ready. Already have the tests done just need to sit down, compare and create the video. Thanks 😊👍👍
Why not the Sigma 35mm 1.2? Is a bit smaller than the 40mm and has smoother bokeh. I have not tried the Tamron but based on my previous tests, I would only try it on the MC-11 not metabones at least in terms of IQ towards the edges of the frame. But of course we would need to find out how the AF works with it. So I rather go with the 35mm 1.2 which is native and was designed for mirrorless or the 40mm if you prefer the longer focal range and most corrected lens. I emailed Tamron a week ago but so far no answer.
@@LuisGabrielPhotography I have heavy investment Nikon DSLRs. I am yet to upgrade to a mirrorless body. I can't go for sigma 35 1.2. I am intrigued for so well marketed lens by Tamron
@@LuisGabrielPhotography Ahh,Great. I was confused b/w sigma and Tamron and I am getting astonishing results for both the lenses. In India they both cost the same and I think considering I am a wedding photographer and I'd to carry a prime on my D850 all the time, I'd go with Tamron. Plus the focal length of 35mm is something I am more used to.
Lovely model and photoshoot. I have the sigma 40 1.4 as well on my D810 and absolutely love it to death. It is such a nice environmental portrait type lens! I took it out for a hike (yea not the greatest idea since it's not light haha) and really love it's overall rendering out in nature. It embarrassed my sigma 35 1.4 with it's wide open performance. I don't think I got a really good copy of the 35 anyway. For my go to portrait shots I just can't get enough of the sigma 105 1.4 art. It makes anyone look like a model and the shots coming out of this beast are absolutely stellar every time! And it gives a great forearm/biceps workout :-) Now that I have the sigma 14-24, 35, 40, and 105 I think next I will go for the 135. I really love 105mm for portraits. 85mm somehow doesn't seem to interest me as much as I love having more compression from the 105. I can't wait to see if sigma will make a 200mm F/2. It would be a real game changer! Thanks for the lovely detailed video. You deserve way more followers!
Wow, first thanks for sharing so many details and your kind words!! Not surprised it embarrassed the 35mm. This 40mm is stunning for sure. I can tell looking at quick samples vs the already great Batis, the sigma is sharper at 1.4 than the Batis at f/2! As soon as I get back I will be getting the sigma 28mm and hopefully the 105mm as well. Ideally I will get the song 24GM for the 28mm comparison which should be interesting. And yes I am hoping sigma comes out with a 200mm at an affordable price with a 200mm I could see myself buying the 105mm and selling the 85 and 135. Thanks again!! :)
Very nice video :) just a question, as I am in need for a travel lens between 24mm 1.4 and 85 1.8 would you suggest batis 40mm? sorry can’t wait for july
Luis Gabriel Photography would you be so kind to upload two raw files of the same image frame using batis and sigma? :) thank you for suggesting it :) hope it is portrait friendly enough. :)
I just went for the cheap Samyang 45 1.8, literally less than 24 hours and will go out this weekend with it, what I can say right know about it, is, I love the size and weight of this lens, for street photography! ...wow,. Still interesting to see the batis review, who knows, maybe on a future I can get it, ....maybe a Vs again the samyang?....
@@LuisGabrielPhotography I will shot again my library vs my zeiss 55 and tamron (at 45 mm too), just to see how sharp it is. Also I have a voigtlander Ultron Vm that it is hard to sell for it microcontrast and all that voigtlanders What ever it has,...if I do, I will do to help me afford the zeiss batis , will see.

Hey still no batis video :)
Man I want this on my R5! Maybe i'l just adapt. Seems like the perfect length for my mini studio full body.
Totally should do it. :)

Which one would you recommend for a wedding photographer, if cost is not an issue? - Sigma 40mm 1.4 A or Tamron 35mm 1.4?

I like the rendering of the Batis a lot so when you add to that the fact that it can focus VERY close I think it is a great option for your needs.
