Having offseasons can happen to any nation, for a counter example - Serie A had one team in each final of the european cups last year (all lost) and one of the two semifinals in the CL being the Milan-Inter derby. Most people here in Italy thought that our league was finally back to its former glory, only to be proven wrong AGAIN this year with the disastrous runs in the CL from Inter, Milan, Napoli and Lazio. And yes, while in the EL and ECL Roma and Fiorentina are still running up for the competitions I'm quite certain they will not win, because Serie A's level is extremely low, we just have what other league don't: defending.
3 teams in European competitions is nothing to get snobbish about, even if all of the Italian teams are out of the CL. The English have got just 1 left, and also 0 in the CL yet finding all sorts of excuses.
@@oldskoolmusicnostalgia where was I snobbish? I said that our level is not as high as some people here in Italy thought, and I was proving that offseasons (or, in Italy's case, special seasons like last year's) can happen to any other major league. What's important to understand is that european competitions are also extremely situational, if every puzzle piece fits where they should you can get an insane european run, or not.
I know right. He goes on about Italian and Spanis dominance but forgets that the other countries hate England. When we were absolutely dominating the CL they banned us to stop it, took 20 years to recover. And now we are back theyre moaning again.
@patrickhauser588 What you on about? Im saying England dominated the competition in the late 70s. They won 7 out of the 8 europeans cups before they were conveniently banned in 1985. It seriously set English football back and only recently have they returned to the level they were at then. It took 15 years for an English club to win it again, and 20 years to really recover their coefficient.
The main issue is that "farmers league" is a stupid and ignorant term to begin with. Also the definition changes every time to fit the narrative of the person currently using it. For me it is simple: the only way to somehow compare leagues is european competition.
England has most ucl winnings teams in a single league, Spain have barca, Madrid, bundesliga have bayern dortmund and hamburg. Italy have inter, ac Milan and juventus. However England has Chelsea, man city, man United, forest, Liverpool. England have the best history, Spain not this season but others have been a battle between 3 clubs, Germany apart from this season has been a battle with 2 clubs, Italy is the only one here in Europe top 5 that truly isn't a farmers, all these leagues however have been swept away with 1 or 2 contenders, however in the premier it has been a neck and neck 3 horse race between arsenal Liverpool and City which dropping points could end a run, Liverpool proved this and its arsenal city in the race, England is the only league of the ones I mentioned that hasn't already got a confirmed winner
100% Farmers League as a term has changed and morphs constantly simply as a way to put others down. It originally was used to describe leagues where some teams were made up of part-time players (example, farmers), so it was much easier. Now people say it's a farmers league when a team wins it a lot....stupid.
The EPL gets more TV money, but mainly because there are more English speaking people to watch it and not necessarily because it is better. It always got more TV money - even when the league was much worse than other Big 5. The question is whether the TV money translates into better quality. It allows you to buy more quality players but it also makes you complacent in player development and in tactics. That's why EPL teams usually fail on tactics. The intensity of top teams is comparable in Europe. If it was higher in the EPL, then English teams would dominate their European competition, but with the exception of oligarch/oil clubs most English clubs do not stand a chance of winning in Europe. Manchester City is therefore comparable to PSG in France. They are not in their position because of the league quality or TV money, but because of extreme cash injections from shady owners. The Spanish and German clubs are usually owned by non-profit organisations that do not inject billions into players which - on the upside - keeps the wages and transfer fees lower, while those costs are artificially inflated in England. That's why players in England are more expensive than in other countries. Regarding the winter break: In some countries this was introduced decades ago simply because the conditions were too bad to play. The winter in England is much milder than in e.g. Germany or Sweden. The risk of injury at negative degrees and in bad conditions was deemed too high. I doubt this has a big influence on Champions League Performance at the end of the season.
I think one of the problems is there aren't enough team's with a winning mentality. City has one 5 out 7 titles and it gives only City a winning mentality. They know what it means to win a league. Sure the English were poor this year but when we had Borrusia/Bayern and Juve/Milan in UCL finals, all teams had winning mentalities from winning leagues and international trophies
I hate Man U, but they were the Real Madrid of the premier league, the fact for over 10 years the "biggest club" in the prem revenue wise has been so mismanaged means the slightly smaller clubs have to take up the mantle. Imagine La Liga if Real Madrid suddenly forgot how to win, the league would lose much european prestige.
Well we are becoming a farmers league, 115 FC might as well get given the trophy before a ball is even kicked. Our media & pundits have this sheer arrogance of hyping up how great our league is but let’s be realistic, we get humiliated in Europe most of the time when we face top teams. Only Aston Villa are the English representatives in any European competition. People use “fixture congestion” & “injuries” as excuses but let’s be real, you need to be playing consistently to maintain fitness & getting up to scratch. The Premier League has the most money but hardly the best in the world. Give me the Serie A of the 90s/00s over this current Premier League decade all day long!

It’s just one season. To support that hypothesis you would need to look at it over a 5 season time frame. There was a time in the 1990s when English clubs were dire in Europe (although I think there was a bad at one point to be fair) but that’s not the case anymore.

The main impression is created by English players being rated much more valuable than the rest o the world. that's just because they have better contracts what makes compensation higher automatically, but also because they have a rule about at least having 8 English players in the team, what makes the fight about talents even worse
And then idiot football fans getting fooled by UEFA and FIFA and “save the football” from super league but more than happy to have 20 More maningless games each year cause it UEFA or FIFA who are in charge
as a german we always considered italy to be our top rival, in recent years france. england has never really been up there. heck, even a germany vs netherlands game draws more intensity from the crowd
The premier league has the hghest floor but the ceiling hasn't necessarily been raised. This year though, the 3 headed tittle race costed them on europea. Liverpool and Arsenal are looking knackered because they literally cannot loose a single Game to he able to Challenger city so they are oobligated to play allá the starters every Game.
English schedule is brutal. EPL teams got FA, Carabao, League and Champions/ Europa. Lower divisions got the same just replace Champions with that motor oil cup or whatever it's called.
The reason why Serie A being the best league in the world back in 80s and 90s was not all about the Champions League success. During the same period, there were at least 1 club from Serie A making through the now-defunct UEFA Cup Winners Cup and the UEFA Cup/Europa League Finals. In the UEFA Cup Winners Cup, the likes of Sampdoria, Parma, and Lazio won at least once. In the UEFA Cup, it's even better. Excluding the 1996 Final, which was between Bayern Munich and Bordeaux, there were at least 1 Serie A club featured in the Final between 1989 and 1999. 4 of those 10 Finals were an all-Italian affairs, although it wasn't until 2003 that an all-Italian Final happened in the Champions League between Juventus and Milan, who were the only Serie A clubs that had won the Champions League in 1980s and 1990s. Also, Aston Villa lost to Olympiacos in the Conference League semifinal. Seems like the PL is the most overrated league in Europe.
6:10 don't get this argument. Roma are fifth in the Serie A table, and for the first Europa League tie, fielded a relatively healthy squad with both star players Lukaku and Dybala starting, the only big miss being Tammy Abraham. Brighton are currently twelfth in the Premier League table, and are currently going through one of the worst injury crisis of the current decade. They were missing their star wingers Mitoma and March, the top Europa League goalscorer Pedro, and had to play with unfit fullback Estupinan, and many more injuries and fitness crises on top of that. It was Roma's game to win.
Yes, but according to prem fans (like in that video) Brighton should have easily beaten Roma as they 'could win Serie A or at least get top 4'. Regardless of injuries, that statement is clearly stupidity personified.

Premier league is not farmers technically because yes man city won a lot of premier league in recent time ( with Liverpool only winning it in 19-20). Point gap between psg and second place have been huge like we are talking around 10 to even more.
Based on the way that 'farmers league' is used by Prem-Heads all of the time, the EPL is currently a Farmers League. Hilarious poetic justice for their arrogance.
Id say the premier league has more physically strong players and make more sprints but other than that it’s not much different other than maybe how slower they play in other leagues

Prem is the best marketed league. Casuals think it's the best quality because it's chaotic, but the quality of football is far higher on the continent.
Well that's not true at all. 😂 Premier League is the highest quality league, it determines a lot of the transfer market and makes more money than the Champions League. The Champions League is overrated, tbh.
"The most dominant run in Champion's League history doesn't belong to the Premier League" - Villa, Forest, and Liverpool won the European cup six out of seven years in the period 1977- 1984. That is definitively the most dominant period in the history of Europe's premier club football competition
The difference between the pl and others farmers we have a title top 4 top 6 and relegation races all through the season coming down to the past few games of the season
I wouldn't mind if teams in europe didn't play in the league Cup, winner gets the conference league spot. At least then championship tes can compete more for a trophy and there us a new team in europe every season, or at least a team that wasn't in the season before

I don't think Farmers League means a league with teams struggling in Europe. Usually used to refer to a boring league where 1 single team dominates everything with no competition
City played non stop since late march while Real Madrid played since what 3 games in april, and don't even think about their title challenger this year. The english FA is really that cruel
That other leagues have a whole cup less and a winter break is not something set in place to get a competitive advantage in european cups. It's simply a historic thing. The PL does their extra cup purely out of greed. They also have significantly bigger squads to offset the loads. Overall it's kind of stupid to compare the different leagues with each other. Apples and pears.
Btw Madrid has 16 injuried player many if them key players, and 2 of them long term injuries being one of them the keeper that is one of the differetial players for them
English clubs have way more money and spend more money on players. They should be able to deal with the extra games. The point is they are bad at spending their money and bad at building squads. They are tactically behind as well. That's why they historically don't do well in Europe despite the financial advantage, though they had more success recently than in the 2010s when their record was diesmal
It's not the best but the most enjoyable to watch. I can actually watch bottom league teams play and still enjoy it. Can't do that w the Laliga or BPL.
Three different EPL clubs were amongst the winners of the last five champions leagues. Two of those finals were all EPL and different clubs at that. What are you guys on about ????
I made this case thousand times since 2006 when PL fans star growing, bc for all the 90's child Italy and Spain where always the top tier teams, the thing is and i believe with my heart on it the lack TACTICS !!! i know is a controversial topic, but follow me here, before europe change the status bc of BOSMAN LAW, then the leagues flooded europe with young talent from south america, that amount of pure, exquisite talent, technique, pass, dribbling, etc changed all of the dynamics of the game. The two Leagues who where the first to bring players from south where La liga and Serie A (Mostly bc cultural ties, almost everybody in wouth speaks spanish or some old grandads are italians), then the people saw real magicians in the field every single game, that forced to all teams to focus on full tactis to stop these monsters. Premier League never has experienced any Romario, Ronaldo, Messi, Ronaldinho, Kaká. Zidane, Baggio, etc multiple teams having multiple god tier stars and teams in your own domestic league for years... that creates a change in the way your own team grows. Then the english way of football: Fast runs, crossings, long shots, and physical streght. Has real trouble when faces styles like tiki taka or chaotic runs ,etc. Every other league evolved to some kind of "mixture" of styles, meanwhile, UK as usual, they didnt look in south america, they choose talent from his older colonies: Africa. The English football and the USA MLS in strange fashion they "think" the game alike, they think the game as a endurance test, not like South Americans or Spain or Italy ( We see the game as players around spaces and times) the Anglo way es less refined: "We need faster and younger wingers, stronger defence, taller GK to make and absolute endurance beast we call a team" .... Meanwhile other see the football as beauty, poetry, art, opera, patience, etc " we run when needed, we attack when the rival is careless about space or when the time is set" thats why other leagues have less intensity but manage to win over PL teams, its bc of tactis. Obviusly Klopp, Pep, Mourinho, etc try to change that style, but the England is very attached to his own tradition and historical style. Thats why the England always loose with the National Team, great players, bad tactis bc english "old school" tactis is truly outdated.
City, Liverpool and Chelsea have carried the PL in Europe for 10 years. Now even Chelsea and Liverpool are in decline and City are compromised by the charges hanging over them. The rest of our league can barely get beyond the last 16 of the Europa league or beat average German and Italian leagues. Our media employ mediocre pundits, low iq ex-players and failed managers who speak in cliches saying our league's the best in the world because a keystone cops game ends 4-3. Anyone capable of a broader view of European leagues and teams doesn't get a voice and our sports media only cater to the small-minded cliche spouting demographic of fans, on some radio outlets they prefer them to be slightly inebriated before they allow them on air.
The Premier League is a farmer league, yet is the only one of the top five leagues to have had a genuine title race this season… We’re now going into gameweek 36 with Arsenal & Man City virtually level; Make it make sense?!
i personally think the prem is the best league not because it is better as it has the best teams in the world, but the competitiveness across the league is the most even out of the top 5 leagues. the most points between two teams in the league or 7 points and that's between the very bottom team, the relegation battle, then the top 5 teams currently in the league. every other league has more points separating teams which in most cases was the first place team. calling the prem a farmers league is only a valid argument if you consider their success in Europe which I think is only is only so bad because you cant take one team in the league easy or they will punish you.
I'd argue Serie A is more evenly competative. Four different winners in 5 years, the top 10 are all fairly even, and even relegated teams (like Sassuolo this year) beat Inter twice.
I wholeheartedly agree that they’re farmers. English teams are all evenly matched and overhyped. When you go to Italian or Spanish football, it’s a lot different. Liverpool are use to playing wolves, burnley and Sheffield every week. If you drop a random team like AS Roma or Villarreal on them, they won’t know how to react to that. Football styles change when you move around Europe, it’s not all the same. In my opinion, Spanish football has always been the most elite, it’s just that Barca and Madrid are so good, you don’t get to see Real Sociedad and Real Betis get a chance.
I thought "Farmer's league" also means that these leagues produces good players which can be bought by all the super rich oil, billionaire and hedge funds clubs from the Premier league. In that way even if Bundesliga and Serie A are stronger this season, they still will have no chance against the financial might of the "not that good" Premier league.
The scoreline dosent reflect the performance, against madrid city clearly played better but real Madrid ended up lucking out on pens, this isn't downplaying their win im just stating that city played better which they did
i mean you talked about something different here... you talked about "is the premier league the best/ overhyped" also nice topic but Farmers means something completely different
You get away with more clutching grabbing and fouling in the PL, seems the PL players do not adjust for European competition where those tactics are not as tolerated.
If we are talking european front , they are improving i mean last season west ham and man city won european cups. This season , however , have been abysmal . Man utd grouped while losing to a danish team 4-3 and guess what copenhagen is not even first in the danish league rn , newcastle got grouped even if they battered psg in their group , brighton got battered by roma , Liverpool got absolutely slapped by atalanta ( 6th in serie a btw ) , man city loses to real , west ham beaten by the might leverkusen. Only aston villa remains here. Lets not forget the best arsenal side in a while losing to the worst bayern team in the last decade. Yeah you got my point here
How is a league better than others that has only one team winning it one after other, where clubs that doesn't belong to any of the fans spend millions and millions and barely make it in europe. Now they all are out including 115. Now what?
Let us ignore all the previous success of English clubs, let us forget the amount of times it has been an all English Champions League Final and let us take one season, where English clubs did relatively badly and then we'll make a video about it being a 'farmers' league. Clever.
Or ignore the fact that there has been just as many all La Liga finals as EPL finals this century.....Let us ignore the rest of European History past last 10 years when clearly Serie A and La LIga are more successful than EPL teams. Let us ignore the fact that the last 2 seasons Serie A and Bundesliga are overall better in Europe....It's easy to cherry pick. Obviously EPL is a very strong league, but they're only 'clearly' ahead of other top leagues other than in marketing and money. It's the self-righteous arrogance that annoys everyone.

Well that's because la liga was rigged to give all the money to real and barca

I don't think anyone genuienly thinks the Premier League is a farmers league (at least I hope so). I think this is just people making fun of these unbearable Prem fans who think the Prem is the only league that matters in football
well i donte like the term farmers league but under the conception that the shity prem fans set them selfs its a term to discribe a one team league witch the prem is
A top five league in Europe cannot be considered a farmers' league.
The distorted "definition" of the term is baffling.
Brighton could go top 4 in other league? What a joke, obviously these guys didn't watch football from other leagues 😆
Brighton and it's manager is so overrated it's scary
What's important to understand is that european competitions are also extremely situational, if every puzzle piece fits where they should you can get an insane european run, or not.
hope the italian football will come back soon. Both the clubs and national team. You have so many great clubs that I like to watch. 🇩🇪🤝🇮🇹
The Reason English clubs didnt compete for the champions league from 1985 was because they were banned after the Heysel disaster for up to 6 years
And after that they sold everything to russians and saudis.
I know right. He goes on about Italian and Spanis dominance but forgets that the other countries hate England. When we were absolutely dominating the CL they banned us to stop it, took 20 years to recover. And now we are back theyre moaning again.
@@user-sc9oy1kz8gyou weren't dominating the first 20 years ajd the last 10 years.
Nah, premier is a farmers league. that's it
England has most ucl winnings teams in a single league, Spain have barca, Madrid, bundesliga have bayern dortmund and hamburg.
@@TKRLeague the last 6 PL seasons had City win it 5 times, and they are gonna win it again this year
I bet you’re great fun at parties
100% Farmers League as a term has changed and morphs constantly simply as a way to put others down. It originally was used to describe leagues where some teams were made up of part-time players (example, farmers), so it was much easier. Now people say it's a farmers league when a team wins it a lot....stupid.

Theres not a single fact to prove it
The EPL gets more TV money, but mainly because there are more English speaking people to watch it and not necessarily because it is better.
I don’t think you understand the concept of a “farmer’s league.” 🤭

I hate Man U, but they were the Real Madrid of the premier league, the fact for over 10 years the "biggest club" in the prem revenue wise has been so mismanaged means the slightly smaller clubs have to take up the mantle. It’s just one season. To support that hypothesis you would need to look at it over a 5 season time frame. There was a time in the 1990s when English clubs were dire in Europe (although I think there was a bad at one point to be fair) but that’s not the case anymore.
nobody really thinks the premier league is bad. They are just really arrogant and ignorant, thats why people poke fun at them.
They run a lot but can’t translate that to Europe. Idk if running a lot means they’re so much better.
France used to have the Coupe de la ligue (French league cup) in addition to the Ligue 1 (domestic league) and the Coupe de France (French cup)
Pep Guardiola is the only man I trust to determine which league is actually the most difficult between La Liga, Bundesliga, and PL
80s and 90s the seria A players were doping

They are not as dominant in the premier league as lets say psg in ligue 1 or even juventus in serie a at some point. The point gap is not as large. Point gap between psg and second place have been huge like we are talking around 10 to even more.

Serie A has different winners on an annual basis. Points or not, it's not dominated by 1 team.

Lets make this channel blow up 🎉😂
Btw Madrid has 16 injuried player many if them key players, and 2 of them long term injuries being one of them the keeper that is one of the differetial players for them

The most competitive league is Brazil...
Allsvenskan and Ekstraklasa are fairly interesting over the last few years as well with many different winners.
Great vid
Okay but we had more injuries than Arsenal
In England everything cost twice as expensive, but it doesn't mean it's twice as good.

bro, didn't watch the West Ham home game...
The Prem has no talented players ; just players who good at hitting stats threshold.... The results in the uefa champions league proves this
Milan had a squad that could literally dominate everyone
The Premier League is a farmer league, yet is the only one of the top five leagues to have had a genuine title race this season… We’re now going into gameweek 36 with Arsenal & Man City virtually level; Make it make sense?!
so a title race is what makes a league not a farmers league? because for the last 5 years ive only seen 2 different winners lol
i personally think the prem is the best league not because it is better as it has the best teams in the world, but the competitiveness across the league is the most even out of the top 5 leagues. the most points between two teams in the league or 7 points and that's between the very bottom team, the relegation battle, then the top 5 teams currently in the league. every other league has more points separating teams which in most cases was the first place team. calling the prem a farmers league is only a valid argument if you consider their success in Europe which I think is only is only so bad because you cant take one team in the league easy or they will punish you.
That's simply not true.
The farmers league called Bundesliga is having a rich harvest this year.
France has the coupe de la league, the equivalent of the carabao cup
Stopped in 2020
They had it, but not anymore.
The scoreline dosent reflect the performance, against madrid city clearly played better but real Madrid ended up lucking out on pens, this isn't downplaying their win im just stating that city played better which they did
i mean you talked about something different here...
you talked about "is the premier league the best/ overhyped" also nice topic
but Farmers means something completely different
You get away with more clutching grabbing and fouling in the PL, seems the PL players do not adjust for European competition where those tactics are not as tolerated.
The PL is actually pretty soft in terms of Physicality
Yeah you got my point here
i think its 50% farmer league, i mean look at other clubs in PL who is in the same level as Man City ?
NONE
3 stats for sprints is crazy 😂😂😂
