I already cry non-stop of what I witness. This season is the wildest I ever had and I am a VfB fans since my childhood days when I got a sign of Giovane Elber and he touched my head at a car seller in Filderstadt (I believe). 😂
This season is just something else. It is totally out of nowhere, it is more beautiful than anything I could've imagined and it just doesn't want to end. This season I had multiple of my most beautiful moments as a fan and I always thought: "This surely cannot be topped." and I was proven wrong every single time.
And the season isn't over yet. So I gave up. We had 4 VfB players on the field against France at the same time or Mittelstädt scoring against Holland and listening to "Völlig losgelöst"... how tf could this possibly be topped again?... Well, we have a European Cup soon... This season, everything can happen. And Europe is booked, the only question is where we gonna travel to: Madrid, Manchester and Mailand or Helsinki, Marsaille and Braga. I don't care actually!🤣
      Für immer VfB 🤍❤

It is so weird to me that the story of Robert Schlienz is not that publicly well known. Imagine nowadays publicity if a disabled man kicks in the highest league and wins trophies left and right. This is outstanding and I think it is one of the biggest achievements humanly possible in football. Compared to him, Messi and Ronaldo look like little boys who try to be good football players on their school's playground.

What has been financially crucial lately is that they made it back to the Bundesliga the next year after relegation. In the 2010's, you had a race to the bottom with other historical clubs like Hamburg, Schalke, Bremen or Hertha who's going to be the biggest shitshow that season and fire more managers/coaches. When Hamburg were relegated the first time in their history, everyone finally got their chance to point and laugh. But they've been stuck in the 2nd league since 2018 and it's not funny anymore, they're missed. Coming back to the video: after 10-15 most years that range from disappointing to heartbreaking and depressing, this season is nothing but joy for us Stuttgart fans. Thanks for the great video!

Fun fact about the history of football in Stuttgart:
While it is commonly believed (and even stated on Wikipedia) that teacher Konrad Koch founded german football in 1874, William Cail's 1892 book "Football - The Rugby Union Game" mentions English students playing rugby/soccer in Cannstatt since 1865, right next to where VFB Stuttgart's stadium is located today.
This makes Stuttgart one of the oldest, if not the oldest, German football cities.

14:14 "especially when they should have been relegated the past two seasons"
Typical misconception of their last season. They had more xG than Union Berlin, and Union finished in the top 4. The only reason Stuttgart was part of the relegation battle was bad luck/finishing. As a Hamburg supporter I knew there would be no chance for us winning the relegation matches against them, they should have never ended upt there in the first place. It's definitely surprising how good they are this season, but it was pretty clear that they would not end up battling for relegation again.

Really good video summarizing the Ups and Downs of VfB Stuttgart. What I have wished would be an Outlook on what's to come for them. They will probably qualify for the champions league, but they have lots of players only on loan (Undav/Nübel/Leweling), or players with relatively low buy-out clauses (Guirassy/Führich). Since VfB Stuttgart is still financially struggeling and doesn't have a good "Vereinsführung" (supervisory board/president) the future is more than uncertain. They need to find a good balance between selling players, extending contracts and finding new players on the market which should not be too expensive.
You could say the next transfer period and season are much more important than this one. I can easily see Stuttgart struggeling for relegation next season again, despite having one of the best coaches of the Bundesliga

Very interesting for me, having watched VfB for more than five decades. There‘s little you miss out on mentioning, but one major thing: You should’ve said that the second year of the Magic Triangle (96/97) was managed by Joachim Löw in his first ever year as manager. He finished fourth twice, the best placements in the 90s apart from the surprise championship in 1992, which wasn’t enough for Mayer-Vorfelder. He sacked Löw for Winnie Schäfer, which ended in disappointment.

So my Club is Hansa Rostock but my stepdad happens to be a VfB Stuttgart member so I watch quite a few of their matches.
What was always striking to me last season was that no matter how low they were in the table they always looked like a functioning team. They did not look or play like a relegation contender to me at any point, it was more like watching lower ranked European clubs like Freiburg or Frankfurt on one of their more unlucky matchdays.
I think they kinda have the same thing going on as Leverkusen: They had a decent but under-performing core, transfers that absolutely clicked (Boniface and Grimaldo vs Undav and Mittelstädt for example) and have probably the two best managers in the league. - If Frank Schmidt gets Heidenheim into European football he takes the crown though 😅

I would suggest taking a look at 1. FC Heidenheim, with their unbreakable team spirit. Especially since they have just won against Bayern München recently.
Anyhow, great Video, really enjoyed it!

thing is I wouldn't say they're back just yet
they're playing one very good season right now and might snag international places at the end of it
they got some decent players and a coach that knows what they want to do but they were also almost relegated in the past two seasons
the bundesliga is a very weird league and they could very well be anywhere from top to bottom or mid table irrelevancy again in the coming years

This is like the situation with Rangers but different…
We got relegated to the 3rd division of Scottish football and all our good players left but we came back up and won a title and maybe another this season!

You forgot leweling tho. Even tho you think he doesn’t make an impact in the game and he didn’t do it at the start of the season. But he got better and better throughout the season. And now he is a very good player who maybe not shoots many goals or doesn’t do assists but he can make a difference. He is very fast and also strong in dribbling what helps him get past the defenders easily and helps the team to create chances

Joke aside, really good Video! Its nice to see that VfB gets some acknowledgement internationally. But I fear this will be the only season where the VfB plays so good.
The issue is, that Guirassy and Undav both are very expensive. We cant keep both and as it seems Brighton wants their Undav back. And Guirassy will go to England most likely.
I doubt the next season will be as successful as this one is. But as a VfB Fan since 2005 I am very happy and enjoying this season as long as it lasts.

I CARE about that missed decade, as we had just moved to the Frankfurt area, and SGE were sooo good, but then managed to shoot themselves in the foot on the last day of the season. Bloody Hansa Rostock! And VfB just happened to be there to pick up the pieces, as they had a slightly better goal differential than BVB.

in my opinion hertha bsc (founded 1892) is the oldest professional club in germany. the latest fusion with the "berliner sport club" was 1923, but the original club "bfc hertha 92" from 1892 was already a football club. even with the same name "hertha"
weird that in the graphic at 1:17 hertha is missing :/

The argument about players being sold for small value isn't a valid one, because in almost all these cases a relatively low transfer clause was the only way to have them stay for one more season, these sales weren't really a part of the mismanagement, quite the opposite actually.

As for the year Stuttgart was founded... we chant: "Hey, Hey 1893", not "Hey, Hey 1912". Even though there was a merger, the original club was founded in 1893 and that tradition is very important to us.
