    I completely agree with everything you said! Ever since I became a vegetarian almost 10 years ago, I hardly have any cramps and have a very short period. Mine went from 7 days to 2 or 3 days now. I don't feel any different during that time and have lots of energy. :)

    Ever since I cut out dairy, red meat & junk food my period got soooo much better. Getting into Holistic Health is the best thing I have ever done. No pain at all. I have a lot of fresh fruits, fresh veggies, nuts, seeds, spices and herbs. Turmeric is a life saver. It truly is a wonder spice. Helped me so much. Eating super healthy is the best thing for your cycle and for you body in general ♡ Kristina, thank you for inspiring me to take care of myself ♡ I love you ♡

    Starting your period at 13 is not abnormal. It usually happens somewhere around the ages of 11, 12 or 13. So don't feel like a late bloomer 😊

      yes, a late bloomer typically starts between 16-18. 13 is actually the average age.

      Absolutely right. Generally you follow your maternal line. My mom started at age 10, me age 10.5 and my grandmother age 11. Timing is just as significant as your flow patterns,too. I think when you drastically change your diet your menstrual pattern can change significantly. Same with stress levels. I remember K. talking about being ill and her heavy, long periods. I had a bad allergic reaction around same age and my periods came like clockwork. Didn't change at all and that was the way I knew I would recover.

      9-16 is considered normal 😊 Even after that it's perfectly normal for some women but it's a good idea to mention it to your doctor just in case 🙂

    I hate how you have to apologize before talking about your period. People know what their getting into by clicking on the video. It's completely natural. I don't like when people are embarrassed to say the word "period" and use nicknames. Thanks this video ❤️

    Yes, very similar thing happened to me. After just two months of eating fully raw my cramps went away completely, my period is totally painless and very light. I don't get mood swings either. I love it! Now just waiting for when they get shorter ;)

    I started transitioning over three years ago. I have had HEAVY periods all of my life. I was going through menopause as well, but there was a great difference since going vegan. I am so happy, over the moon that , that phase is over with. OMGG! If you only knew. I think it is easier for a younger person to go vegan than an older one who has been subjected to a SAD all of ones life. Better later than never though. I feel happier, healthier and proud to be more conscious of my health and well being. I even had a mole that was growing on my abdomen that fell off and did not grow back. Thanks Kristina and keep being a great mentor to us all , no matter our age. One day when you are in NYC, we will meet. Stay blessed!

    I was diagnosed with endometriosis when I was 19. Then diagnosed with hypoglycemia 5 yrs ago. I was a vegetarian for 12 yrs and then became a vegan not too long ago and I now get my period for 24 hrs and my daughters are jealous. I don’t get cramps during my period but I do get cramps during ovulation. And the pain from ovulation lasts for about 35-48hrs. And to add to this topic. Our periods shouldn’t last long but also, we should not bleed to death during our periods. It’s a sign that things aren’t right. Changing my diet was important for me to control my endometriosis and also take care of my hypoglycemia. It worked!

    After my second month of going raw, my period was only two days long and had very little cramping. It has been another amazing "side effect" of going raw! Before, it was so painful and heavy even being vegan for 7 years prior to going raw.

    I found out over time that the severity of my menstrual cycle is directly related how I treat myself during that month. When I used to smoke and drink, eat god knows what. I would get so sick. I needed painkillers. My moods? Forget about it. People close to me would mark their calendars and hide from me. Thank you for this video. A lot of people will benefit from it.

    I'm not Vegan in anyway but I went a year and a half without my period after I started to incorporate alot more fruits and vegetables in my diet, you are the one who convinced me to start eating more healthy.

      It's normal if the population eats a heavy animal derived diet. 16 - 17 years old is the normal time according to Dr John Mcdougall.

      Kodosuro earthbybike General rule of thumb is that periods start when the body has enough fat to support carrying a child. Genetics, when your mom started, your grandmother, and a few other factors also play a role.
      It has nothing to do with "hormones fed to animals". This is pseudoscience use to advance a lifestyle. Seeing this line of bs spread around so frequently is quite worrisome as it means many, MANY women aren't educated and informed about what's going on with their own bodies.
      Speaking on body fat and the age at which you begin menstrating: There is a reason gymnasts often do not start their periods until a bit later in life and why some lose their periods at Elite levels and during competition season--they simply never have enough fat on their body.
      "Raw vegans" will lose their periods in much the same way because many of them seem hell bent on being terrified of consuming fat. Their body can no longer comfortably support pregnancy and birth so it starts cutting off certain functions to keep you breathing and with a heartbeat. Unfortunately, for some, this can lead to a lifetime of fertility issues.
      The average age for the onset of menses is 13; a perfectly reasonable age. The age has gone down slightly, historically speaking, but not for the reasons some people think. It happened for one reason--we have food. No more "lean winter months", no more hoping beyond hope the crops don't fail and you have enough to eat. Nope. We've got food everywhere.
      Modern society has produced ready access to food. Now we reach an acceptable amount of fat on our bodies for a longer period of time earlier in life and *boom* now we start sooner.
      The "hormones in meat makes you start your period too young" is a myth. There ya go. Just some basic facts. It's just that we have availability of food. That's all. Facts are more important than opinions and feelings. And McDougall is an absolute quack.

    Honestly I don't think it's ever a good sign to loose your period. That is your bodies indicator that there is a problem. That said,. I am not vegan or vegetarian but I have to say that what you eat definitely makes a difference. I was getting horrible fatigue during my cycle. I had times when I could not get out of bed. It is due to blood and hormone issues that are common for many women during their cycle s. I found out that eating iron rich foods and foods that "feed my blood" really made a difference. And it was actually the foods that I had been craving (along with some ginger tea). For me it was salmon, baked sweet potatoes, and spinach. Also teas with ginger and staying hydrated. I try to stock up on these items when it gets close to the time of my cycle. I still get a little tired but its nothing like it was before. Definitely recommend looking into the foods that are best for treating your symptoms.

      treating symptoms is what doctors do, healing the body is something altogether different! I hope one day you will come to see that meat has nothing to do with the needs of the body but quite the contrary; meats and dairy are ruining our kidneys and digestive system. Blessings :)

    My flow is extremely consistent and short (4 days), not too heavy, and I experience either no pain or only slight cramping on the 1st day. Before I became vegan, I menstruated for over a week every month and had a very heavy flow. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a MUST READ! Also, the Diva Cup is a game changer- much more convenient than a tampon or pad, better for the environment, and way more comfortable. Love this video!

    She said she was a late bloomer yet she started her period at 13. Isn't that the average age? Also, she's shown us picture of herself when she was 16 and she already had the body of a woman. A clear indication of not a late bloomer! It was only when she got sick that she started losing weight.

    same story lost my period for 5 years.. now it's great, perfect and healthy, bright red, regular and no cramps, only breast pains 1 weeks before... actually are 12 years that I'm vegan. love you Kristina

    Jah love Kristina. Thanks for a great video about subject close to my heart, body and soul. I suffered with endometriosis for years and this is the reason why I became a vegetarian at 18 and transitioned to beeganism, veganism and to raw vegan diet. I feel that the raw vegan lifestyle is extremely beneficial to menstruating females. I began my cycle at the young age of 11. And I read that this is not ordinary at all. Young girls should normally menstruate later in the teens. Anyway, I had severe cramps which landed me at emergency rooms almost every month. I could barely survive at college and graduate school. I wasted money on books and alternative therapies like acupuncture, chiropractic care, and healing retreats. And all that I needed was a really good raw vegan green juice fast. I used to juice a lot but i drank carrot juice when I shoulda been drinking green veggies. It's been a real learning experience for me. The best part is that in 1996, I embarked on a juice fast before my menstrual cycle in the hopes of lessening the severe cramps that disabled me for days. And I ended up making my body fertile, I got pregnant. And I nursed my babies for years which delayed my cycle. So, when I was about to get my period after 12 months of nursing, I would do the juice fast and I ended up pregnant each time. I was infertile and doctors said that I would need to do all kinds of work ups. But, the raw vegan juice feast saved me from that. I also feel that my raw vegan diet makes my experience with menstruating much better. I have to eat a lot of greens and drink lots of water and eat fruits. I have to lessen my fat intake and the nuts that i eat must be sprouted. And my cycle is light and flows, I find that pumpkin seeds are really good to eat and chew on before the cycle because they really help the flow to just start without any of the brown heaviness before hand.     I went vegan a month or so ago by the second cycle I noticed the beginning of my period was bright and the ending was bright. The doctor told me that it will take some time to heal but it’s a good sign to see flow bright in the beginning. I’m doing acupuncture and seeing an alternative medicine doctor (Eastern Medicine). He told me no animal products forever. Not good for my body.

      It's sad because girls have to deal with it so early... Because it hurts, and it can soak through and you can get bullied for it in school.. You can say your childhood ends with periods, because now you are acknowledged of your sexuality.

      ASMR Vegan Brittany yes it's great to get to know your cycle, in general. You can also use this knowledge to avoid pregnancy (of course it's not 100%). There is just one chapter on conceiving and you can skip that part. Well worth the read. I'm saving this book to give to my niece (or daughter if I ever have one) as soon as they start their period. Every woman should read it imo!!

    Before I went vegan, I had to either be on birth control pills or pain relieving meds. Now that i am vegan, I experience some discomfort, but even without medications I can work and it's not as heavy.

    I wish I would have known about being raw vegan years ago - I could have saved myself years of suffering. No surprise, but mainstream medicine didn't share anything on how to get rid of fibroid tumors. Ugh! I could have healed my fibroids tumors had I known. But that's okay - I'm getting the rest of my body healthy now. Yay Kristina. Get the word out.

    I'm not a raw vegan, but I've incorporated a lot from Kristina. I juice almost everyday, eat a lot of fresh food, no meat, etc.. I went through the same things... it IS amazing what our bodies can do when given the right nutrition to heal. I'm 35 and my cycles don't bother me at all. They're about 2-3 days long, no headaches, no cramps, and regular. I think this video can actually apply to every day life. I'm not moody, sleep better, clear skin, everything is just running great! I hope everyone can take a little info from this video and use it to be healthier and happier 😊

    Thank you for sharing, Kristina! I know there are still stigmas in society but menstruation is an amazing measure of health. At my worst/most unhealthy, I literally called my boss from work, sobbing, risking the job that I very much needed to keep, and told her I had leave immediately. (I'm blessed to say that she understood and another coworker came down on her day off, took me home, then finished the day at the store.) I laid in a bathtub, still sobbing, in horrible pain, nauseated, dizzy, cramping, with a headache and a very heavy flow, reading online about TSS-it was the only thing I could think of to explain the intensity. The only reason I didn't call an ambulance (and I had no insurance and no money, so it was NOT a easy choice,) was the lack of the tell-tale rash that TSS brings. Since transitioning to raw vegan for more than a year now (I"m about 80%-90% and progressing slowly, so I can address all the psychological aspects as well,) my period is like clockwork, short, easy, comfortable, a sign of my health, a measure of the success I've made, light, bright-colored...I hadn't even realized I'd stopped ovulating until it came back! Anyone having pain/trouble with their cycle (which can demand up to 80% of one's immune system!) I hope, I hope, will consider eating more raw foods. I could write my book (after reading half a dozen and counting!) but I digress. Our bodies are incredible machines in/with which we get to experience this incredible planet. Let's celebrate it! :)

Our ancestors lived on the earth millions of years under the perfect care of The Most High Creator and we're more durable healthy and resilient.     i started my period at 16 and my periods were horrible. and now at 28 i got diagnosed with endomitriosis.. and my aunts and grandma also have it. as soon as i became vegan it changed for the better...

    I thought i was the only one and that I just had a hormonal imbalance. I went vegan (not raw) about two years ago when I was 18, and I haven't had my period in almost 2 years. but I know there's something going on there because there is always some blood there when I wipe (it almost never reaches my underwear) or very light amounts of old blood, and I'm ovulating too. This might be tmi, but I guess it's something some of us go through.

      spotting/bleeding doesnt always mean ovulation, you should get an ovulation test or see a doctor

      Please get checked by a doctor to make sure you're okay, bleeding in that way isn't normal and should be confirmed by someone qualified.

      I would get it checked because that doesn't seem to be normal...
      are you eating low fat? because sometimes, not eating enough fat can be the reason for period loss:/

    I wish I knew about this yesterday when I had an MRI on my brain to check my hypothalamus! Because of this exact issue! Drs have no clue because my bloods were normal as were my hormone levels.Thank you so much for the transparency.

    13 isn't late... I was 14 when I got mine and I know a woman who didn't get hers until 18, several who didn't get it until 15 or 16.

    I am so happy you posted this! I also had terrible periods which is why I went vegan. When I tell people that eating a plant base diet cured my periods they couldn't believe it. Food is such a healer and now I'm transitioning to a raw food diet because I have seen the miracles of food as a cure.

    IMPORTANT to Kristina!!! Dear Goddes. I am a high carb vegan with a lot of raw now for 1,8 months. I am 41 and vegetarian sinds I was 15. At around the age of 35, 2 weeks of the month I could not function in my life because of the menstrual cycle (cheese & eggs I was eating now I know!!!!!) The beautifull things is : sinds 5 months my ovulation is on full moon and my menstruation at new moon, like clockwork. When I discoverded this through my mentrual app, I was blow away feeling so in sinc with the universe. I am still recovering from a burn-out and growing into my enlighment. But this is a big present for all the work I have done to be healthier, happier & VEGAN. Thank you for your inspiration, education is so IMPORTANT !!!

    I've been vegan for about 2 years all up now (i went back to eating some meats and dairy when i was pregnant as i didn't think i could be vegan and pregnant, i know a lot different now!!) buuuut! i have always want to go raw vegan and for the last week or so i have been transitioning and for the last few days i have made the plunge and taken on the raw vegan lifestyle! i'm feeling great so far and i'm still breastfeeding and i haven't noticed a difference in my milk supply at all :) i'm very excited and happy! I've been watching your videos for about 2 or more years now and i just want to say thank you so much for being your beautiful bubbly and kind hearted self all the time. it has made me feel like yep i can do this. so thank you. thank you so much for being you.

    I'm not vegan but I eat healthy clean foods now (as of several years ago). I started my period at 15. The flow and cramps got heavier over the following years until it was awful. Cramps were extremely painful, I'd get nauseous, I'd have anxiety, mood swings, and would double up on protection but would soak right through it in less than an hour. After switching to a healthier diet, it has gotten much better. The flow is manageable, less painful, no more nausea, etc. I definitely agree with Kristina - eat more healthy and exercise. Do your own research on how common foods affect the body. Totally worth the effort!

    13 is a normal age to start your period. I didn't start until I was 14 and like you (later in life), I didn't have cramping or issues of any kind. The biggest things to change my period was the use of the pill and then getting off of it. The only time I ever lost my period was when I was under-eating for fitness competitions and also the most stressed I was ever in my life...your hormones don't like that. I will say that after 3 years of being a whole food vegan, my periods are consistent but sometimes cramps really get to me which is something I am not used to. I think it has more to do with having had a baby who is now 2.

    Hi Kristina, I live in another continent (Algiers) and I love your videos, you seem so healthy. I follow your videos because I'm recently turned to be vegan, due to Thyroid desease, for the first time, I pay attention to what I eat, to be equilibrate, I avoid gluten and dairy products and sugar, I concentrate myself only in vegetables and fruits and herbs. I feel better even i started since 1 week, I practise yoga and meditation everyday to heal my insomnia problem.     You can't attribute those changes completely to your diet though, unless a doctor did. It's common for cramps and bloating to be worse when you are younger. Mine definitely were. I didn't want to leave my bed. Now I just have mild cramping in the first day and that's it. I'm not fully raw vegan.

      Leggings Are Pants actually my cramps where getting worse as I was getting older. I switch to vegan and some exercise and stretching and my life changed. No more disturbing cramping no bloating no fatigue. So #grateful

    I really LOVE my period now. After I got a moon cup (and learned from the mistakes) I felt so different about it. And I could collect it and use it to fertilize the garden! Woohoo! Yup, ancient female rituals

    I am also hypoglycemic and I really am trying to be fully raw, but my chiropractor said to eat lots of meats and protein and fat. I get sick still I have seizures. I am trying to be healthy but my family does not support me the way I want. They still buy all the bad food and I get tempted a lot. I am going to watch your videos to get encouraged and keep on going.

    Kristina , I am so very Glad you made this video!!! I am an adult women. , it is irrelevant for me as to when I started my period. However I have been probably 80% vegan since May. My period stopped in July. I freaked out!!!! I've taken two pregnancy test!!!! I do feel my body ovulating. And I do know for fact that I am eating proper calories and nutrients. I'm tracking all my food . Your video has answered a lot of questions. Again thank you for attacking the awkward subjects.

При этом нет болей, ничего предвещающего, и продолжительность меньше. Я могу спокойно заниматься тренировками в это время. Хотя раньше меня тоже мучали приступы тошноты, боли в почках, кобчике, иногда менялась температура, болело все тело. И всё это время время после перехода я продолжаю благодарить судьбу и вселенную, что направила меня изменить рацион, отношение к себе и жизни! И смотрю на вас и радуюсь с пониманием!     No need to be embarrassed! This is so helpful and interesting to me because I have had autoimmune issues and my period went away for a while too because I was so unhealthy. So it's interesting. I believe that my body didn't have enough hormones to consistently have a blood flow. i experienced more cramping when I first became vegan and I believe this was because of my stress levels and lack of physical releases in my lifestyle. Thanks Kristina!!! Great info video and it makes me want to re-hash my period journey and see where I'm at now.

    My first Moon was also at 13. As long as I eat fruits and veggies my Moon just shows up without warning. 2 max 3 days. Cramping is once every 3- 4 months if I am eat less clean. Whoo and when I cramp my body reminds me to eat clean with attitude!

    13 is late? oO Mine started at 13 too. Now because of all that messed up food (diary and meat that have a lot of hormons in it) girls have their period statrs at 9! Horrible and sad... And btw I got pregnant when I lost my period (no blood) on a raw vegan diet after 10 years of unprotected sex (before I wasn't raw or vegan and simply doctors told me that I wont be able to have kids).

    I'm currently residing in the hospital with Crohn's disease. I'm fifteen years old and I was diagnosed in April a year after something really tragic happened to me. I haven't had my period since my diagnosis. When I'm discharged, I can't wait to start my plant based journey. I can't quite say I'll go fullyraw completely yet because my gut is really inflamed and doesn't do well with fiber, but eventually, overtime, when I'm in remission, I will add more and more fruit and veg into my diet. Kristina, I feel like we're so similar! I'm middle eastern too, and I got this illness around the same age you got yours. Amazing. It's like your my big sis. I've been watching you since I was 11. Thank you for all you do love. I send you back, my hugs and my love.

      Hi Kayla, Im so sorry about your diagnosis. Ive had UC for 8 years and have recently found my path to healing through a vegan lifestyle. You might be interested in a book by David Klein called Self Healing Crohns & Colitis. He teaches how to introduce a predominately raw vegan diet to inflamed/irritated intestines.       Think about juicing at the beginning, to remove the insoluble fibers from the nutrients from your veggies. You will be able to enjoy nutrients without the "grating" effect of fibers on your inflammed intestines.

    I lost my period for a while when I ate like fat raw vegan and was running every day. When I started eating more nuts or seeds, was getting less excercise time and less sunshine and I got it right away.

    Minor cramping is normal and healthy. The muscles in your uterus need to contract to remove the layer of blood. It's just your body doing its job :)

    Thanks for sharing. And yes. What you feed your body is HUGE! It's a huge factor in how your body functions. So if you make that big of a change in your diet, you have to expect changes in bodily functions. She was feeding herself unhealthily before, but now that she is getting the right nutrition and care, of course she is going to see improvement. I was 95% vegan for over a year and a half, however, because my parents weren't providing the amount of fruits and veggies I need to consume to stay healthy, I had to change back to regular a regular diet 😞. I noticed that because I wasn't getting the right quantity of healthy food in my body, I was malnourished. I am almost 17 and so if I am going to eat fully raw vegan, I need to invest in that lifestyle 100%. I was basically starving myself because I had this specific diet and didn't have the resources. So as long as I'm under my parents care, I have to stay on a "modern" diet. I can't wait until I am able to go fully raw though! I have been watching your videos throughout this journey of mine.       Also how can you tell if your body is ovulating? And I guess what is ovulation? I was 14 when I started my period, so I was a late bloomer also! My little sister actually started before me, which was frustrating, but like you said we are all different. 😊

    I started when I was around 13, I get very dizzy and even pass out, super bad cramps but I find when I eat mostly fruits and veggies I dont need a bunch of pain pills and I still have bloating but I get next to no cramps and can do stuff normally. ive just gone vegan but when I noticed this I would eat mostly raw a few days before and a few days after it ended. but I feel very great now

      KawaiiStrucked yes, the sooner the period, the greater risk for developing breast cancer. i have completed my masters studies in cancer biology and this is what we are taught. Dairy and animal products are full of growth hormones that make everything grow, including cancer cells. Girls are starting their periods earlier these days.

    Been eating raw for a few weeks now and my menopausal symptoms have gone. I was suffering so bad with the hot flashes and feeling quite depressed.. I wish I had found this diet sooner. On another plus side I have lost quite a few lbs. I am hoping to get back my fitness in time, I am now feeling like I want to exercise more. I always thought I had middle age spread and fat was stubborn to loose because of my age but not on this diet. I am gradually loosing weight at 1 - 2 lbs a week, more than I have lost on other fad diets. I struggled at first with all the greens that you have to put into this diet, I was not a green eater but you have to persevere! I cannot do the green smoothies so I stick to the leafy greens, salads.

    13 isn't late at all! 11-13 is normal. I was 11. I practice clean eating, usually 50-75% of which is raw vegan. I never had terrible PMS but now I have very little. No cramps and minimal bloating and discomfort. Eating healthy can help a lot with PMS. Watching your video has also made me realize my blood is a much brighter red now.
