I was raised on a 120 acre dairy farm in North Central Illinois in the 50's and 60's helping Dad do chores. Used a "H" and rake as my first field experience at 8 years old. Still remember the sights and smells and sounds. Used to bale hay, walk beans and shell corn for farmers in my area. Farming is such a noble occupation. Thanks for your videos. You are living the dream........

i farmed central illinois as a kid on some old farms, baling season was the best time, riding on the hay rack between fields eating sun pickles and drinking cold tea, princeville was the first area i farmed and then later in the knox county area

I can define a good day. A blue sky, the smell of hay and engine oil from a working Farmall C in front of a four bar rake and an compliment from my grandfather after he finishes bailing on the good job you did raking.

Thank you Pete. You reminded me of cutting, raking, & baling hay for my horses, with my JD 3020. I only have one tractor, which has to do all the field work, on my 20 acres. The children are all grown and gone, and I have to put a new fuel tank on my 3020. But at 74, probably your Dad's generation, I don't have to be in a hurry, since I also don't have any horses to feed anymore, but may get one, just for fun & something to do. Thank you again Pete, and here's wishing you & your family good health.

Here in west Texas the weather is very dry during hay season. I cut alfalfa in the morning but rake and bale at night when there is a little dew on the windrow. Otherwise, I would lose too much leaf and have bales of nothing but alfalfa stalks.

I like listening to the old tractors run. I spent my childhood growing up helping Grandpa fix the tractors He collected. All the old tractors have their own unique sound when they run. I think it's awesome that you not only fix these old tractors up but use them too. It is what they were made for after all.

Kind of a funny story, My dad told me that when he was young and his dad was showing him how to rake with an H, his dad told him don't take right turns too quick or you'll take the valve stem right off the tire. And then he promptly took the valve stem off the tire. Thanks for the great videos Pete!

I remember when i was a kid working on my first farm, Full time at 12 years old. Anyway, i was sent out to chisel plow and yup, turned to tight and ran that darned thing right up the right rear tractor tire. Ruined a whole lot of stuff that day. But thankfully i worked for that farmer until i graduated high school full time for years! he was a very good man and to this day a great and respected friend. I LOVE those memories of learning what I do now! Only difference is I did it for money back then. It's all for the work itself and feeding as many people as I possibly can the very highest quality food I can produce for them.

Is there anything more satisfying than storing up feed for the cold winter?? Due to a family funeral, I got to stand on our old farmland in that deep alluvial soil downriver from Pickwick Dam in W. TN last weekend. Yes, we rotated the corn with hay, square bales, of course. I remember having to turn each bale over before picking it up because of cottonmouths and copperheads that would hide there if the bale stayed on the ground overnight! Thanks Pete for the sights and sounds... they minister to me.

Bringing back memories of my high school years when I would go help my buddies dad put up hay. Of course we put up square bales and had to toss square bales onto the wagon and put them up in the rafters in the barn.

The drone shots are awesome, Pete. I like that it matters to you to keep the tractors shiny and clean. You must be tired after a full day of riding the bouncy tractor over the bumpy fields. Can't wait to see the bailing machine! Thanks for all you do. 😀

There is nothing more mentally relaxing than pulling any tool behind my Farmall Super C. Great video as always Pete!
