I love self-fulfilling prophecies in stories. They're a huge trope in mythology and fantasy. Because of his irrational determination to keep Jerry out of Tuscany, the maestro invariably brings about the very thing he was hoping to prevent.
Sort of like how Oedipus tries so hard to prevent the prophecy of him killing his father from happening, that he ends up doing the exact thing he wanted to prevent.
He's secretly trying to raise the house prices in Tuscany, if tells you not to go there and get a house you kind of have to, prove your still a man. Then he laughs while you buy up land and he will sell when demand is high and supply is low. It's almost to easy.........
This show had messages all the time, they were just clever enough to do it with satire and metaphors. There are two different episodes with a subtle pro-choice message, plus episodes that tackle homophobia, LGBT issues, the disabled, racism and even date rape. Isn't it odd how people only care about "Preaching" when they DISAGREE with the message? Funny how that works.

So it would need to be a pretty long ride, but not unheard of, since sometimes unworldly travelers might just take a super long cab ride from the airport instead of taking the time to figure out trains etc.

I love how Louis-Dreyfus subtly has Elaine show irritation at Jerry's questioning of the Maestro over two takes, before she actually tells him to quit asking. Very impressively carried off, IMO.

I think that’s the joke, though, too. Because this way they can have George sounding all rational and logical when he asks Jerry why Jerry even cares - when in reality, George is usually the one obsessing over things like this.
