    I would check some of the soldering points inside the linear. Could be some components are not properly grounded to the pcb.

      You may have something there, and thanks for that, you have given me another viable possibility for me to jot down on my note pad..
      Once he is up and running in the new house I will be putting all comments to him that seem reasonable..
      Cheers my friend have a great weekend all the best.
      Ps.. your recent videos have been very good in illustrating power to linear's, keep up the good work. 73

      Hi Gazza, I think there was something definitely wrong with the linear.. although it was a brand new linear that doesn't mean to say it's working ok.. I've bought dud shizzle before.. lol 😂 😂

    Definitely turn the echo off and check the patch lead between the amp as sometimes it’s the simple things that cause problems..it sounds as it’s being over driven though?

      The video was very long this is just a clip from a 1 hour thirty five minute video.. the echo was turned off and modulation turned down.. and at this point in the video everything was turned up as part of the testing.. it was only when the linear was taken out of line altogether the modulation was ok, so I think his linear was the issue.. I have made some comments in the description below. Thanks for your input it is much appreciated.

    My first answer on a postcard is turn that echo off as although it is nowhere near as bad with the linear out of line i am sat here with headphones on and I can still here him clipping although that could just be the recording.That is definitely harmonic distortion of sorts,almost like a Earthing issue or a mains born problem but if both are new obviously that linear is at fault or whatever powering it up is.

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey buddy, Judging by the majority of replies and the amount of times the echo has been mentioned I don't think many people took time out to read the description or spotted what I wrote below about the echo.
      This is nine minutes of an hour and a half video the echo was turned up deliberately as was the modulation as part of the testing to try and break down what was occurring and when.. for the most part his echo was off and the modulation at a good level, we were trying all sorts of scenarios to fathom out the problem..
      You bring up two very good points which I have noted and written down to go back and address once my friend has set up his station again when settled in his new home..,
      You give good observations and I think you may be right about the supply and linear,
      We will see once he gets his test meter out and runs through it..
      Thanks and your comment is much appreciated. Stay blessed.

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks my friend, as soon as I watched your video I had a feeling the NPC would be the cause.. You video should be watched by everyone that owns the Ares 2 and other radios that use a similar function.. It's very strange isn't it when you click a switch and thinking it will help and yet it literally destroys audio.. it's not a function many people would think would make a major difference but we live and learn.
      Thanks again I learnt a lot from this.. 10/10 to you sir.

    Excessive audio levels, RFI problems?🤔 Ferrite clip ons may help...

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, we finally got down to the issue causing the problem, in the NRC function it can be set to reduce incoming noise on the band and a further setting that can be set for noise cancellation on the mic, it was the noise cancellation option causing the issue.. once the NRC function was turned off completely the radio performed ok..
      I was watching a TH-cam channel called Scott's Radios in the USA who covered this exact problem.. once the NRC function was enabled he showed the same issue when a linear was put in line and illustrated it on his meters.. then he showed the difference with the function turned off with the linear in line.. I would never have guessed that would cause such a dramatic problem.. so credit goes to Mike at Scott's Radios. Thank you for your comment it is much appreciated.

      Hi George, I wrote in the description the entire situation covering all aspects including the audio, this is around nine minutes of a one and a half hour video, the echo and modulation was turned up on purpose to see what the results would be, most of the time through testing and trying to find what the problem was both were set to normal.. also in the description I mentioned many things about the issue and that the radio and linear were using there own separate power supplies which were more than adequate.

    Never use a 3-foot jumper between the radio and the linear, I switched to a 12 ft jumper and everything works fine.

    • @DeltaXray444
      @DeltaXray444  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it depends on the set up.. personally through trial and error I think mismatched jumper lengths can be a bigger issue, I use nine foot jumpers on my set-up but that can change depending on which antenna I use and what the analyser is showing.. I think it's horses for courses and different results for most people.. but I do get your point..
      Btw im not sure what length jumpers my friend in the video was using although I don't think jumper lengths would be causing the problem he had.. it's a strange one for sure.. thanks for your comment and stay blessed enjoy your weekend.
