  • HI PALS! We are getting some decluttering done over here and I am here for it. More specifically today we are talking about decluttering your jewellery in 10 steps. I recently did a big declutter myself and found it got difficult because I was putting too much sentimental value on my jewellery. Of course there will always be pieces we want to keep forever but often we hold onto more than we really need in this area of things. So let's get that sorted!
    Hope you enjoy this video and if you'd like to see the other videos I mentioned in this one let me know in the comments below!
    Peace and Love!

    I just hardly wear jewelry anymore. My fun thing is picking out a few pieces and just leaving a piece here and there. On the table of a restaurant when I leave, on the bubblegum machine at the grocery, just weird little places. I have fun imagining someone finding it and seems more satisfying than dumping at the thrift store.

    I recycle my broken jewlery, and the pieces I don't want by incorporating them into my junk journals❤ Thank you for this video.

    Great video! I only keep what I can wear and has deep meaning to me. I used to buy stuff and then never wore, no more. Thx for your smart video. All my stuff fits in one box and I can see it.

    That was a really thoughtful and practical video. I have whittled down my jewellery collection to a few select pieces with diamonds which I always reach for and could not be happier with my small and loved pieces.

    I have such a hard time decluttering stuff I got from my Grandmother after she passed. I have so much! But I know she would be fine with me donating a few things so someone else can enjoy them.

    Thank you for great ideas. I have been decluttering my house for the last couple of years. Decluttering jewelry has been the toughest task. After initial decluttering of at least half of the initial collection, I still have thousands of items. Granted, I have not worn many of them for years, but I find it hard to part with them. Has anyone else experienced the same difficulties? What would you recommend?

    Thankyou so much for this video! My jewellery boxes, bags, drawers are out of hand. I have so much that has been handed down from Mom, Nana, great Nana, mother in law etc etc and I wear none of it. I am going to go thru it and keep a couple of sentimental bits and declutter the rest as it is just sitting doing nothing and my daughter does not want it either.

    For jewlery organization purposes, do you keep sets together or do you separate sets and put "types together (earrings, bracelets, etc)

    • @AmandaWeldon
      @AmandaWeldon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Rosa this is SUCH A GOOD QUESTION! I really wanted to think about this over night hah (taking this one very seriously). I have come to the conclusion that I would keep them in "types" (earrings with earrings versus within a set). The reason I would do this is if I have a set I know I can always reach for that other piece. But if I'm choosing my accessories for an outfit I don't want to miss out on the chance of potentially choosing an item because it is with its set. At least when you have them separated by types you always see the potential. :) Hope that makes sense! xo Thanks for watching!

    I don’t have much jewelry... I have sensitive skin so I am picky about what jewelry to buy. I have been wanting to grow my collection a bit but atm I really don’t need them. I have a few earrings and some rings and like 2 necklaces but I am looking for a good necklace to wear daily.

    • @AmandaWeldon
      @AmandaWeldon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is so wonderful Amanda! The fact that you love those pieces and get so much use out of them is the best. I would also like to focus on purchasing quality for the future and know it will be a slow process. There is magic in that slow growth I think. :) Thanks for watching!

    I want to declutter my jewelry to the point where I have a small jewelry box with items I actually use. I want to get rid of the items that hold sentimental value but I just never use. Its hard to get rid of some earrings my dad gave me when I was a little girl. How do I do this? I like them but I never ever use them.

    • @AmandaWeldon
      @AmandaWeldon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      After reading this over and thinking about it all morning hah I think I have come to a conclusion on the plan! I think you should get a smaller jewellery box for your everyday bits and be harsh about those but then put those special pieces in their own little box packed away just for your heart. I would feel awful saying to get rid of something that you hold close to your heart but don't use. Sometimes the sentiment is worth keeping the items but maybe just separate them out from your everyday pieces that you want to wear and see without getting overwhelmed with it all. :) xo

      @@AmandaWeldon This is actually a pretty good idea. I have thought about this idea before but having someone tell me about it gives me another reason to actually do it. I might keep my sentimental pieces in a special box and a smaller jewelry box for my everyday items. Thanks!!

      The most commonly used variations of this noun, meaning precious items of personal decoration, are jewellery and jewelry. The correct spelling in Australia and Britain is 'jewellery'. In American English, the correct spelling is 'jewelry'.

    Been wanting to declutter my jewelry so bad bc I lost all my motivation to wear any after my old jewelry box broke and I hung onto it out of sentimental guilt (it was a gift from my dad, my first “grown up” jewelry box) 🥹
    I have ugly, tarnished, cheap costume jewelry like some that I’ve worn exactly ONCE for HOCO and Prom, so it’s time to let it go!
    I have a new jewelry box saved to my wishlist that mirrors and honors the one that broke. And in the meantime I’m going to pick up an inexpensive clear folding earring case. It’s gonna be WAY easier for me to find pairs of earrings which I have TONS of

    I bought new jewelry and for now i wear it. So i see how long i will wear it untill i declutter it. My daughter gets her earrings today. So we will wait untill she is old enough to get my jewelrybox to wear my earrings. I am saving for some 18k gold earrings. They cost a lot but my husband says ok for ones i will invest in some nice expensive earrings. I know you will wear them. But promise me not buy any other jewelry anytime soon.

      Usually if it's sterling silver it will have a 925 stamped into it somewhere on a clasp or the inside of the ring. gold will have 9k, 14k, 18k, 22k etc stamped into it usually! you can also take it to a jeweler to get tested if it's an heirloom piece you're unsure of :)

      @Maria Rodriguez I have A LOT of inheritance of jewelry. I took it to a good and honest pawn shop and they told me what was valuable and what wasn’t. There were some that I didn’t think were worth anything and they told me that those items were very valuable! Also get second or third opinions on your jewelry.
      Some I will give away, some I will sell and the rest I will separate from not valuable and valuable. Then I will get a GOOD SAFE and store the good items in my home vs the safety deposit box I pay for.
      I hope this helps you.
      PS I have watched a few videos that say to leave out in plain sight so if a burglar comes in they will take that instead of your good jewelry that is hidden very well in a GOOD SAFE.
