I'm raised in France and Sweden. And the biggest differences in style are the following: *French = Chic and timeless* *Swedish = trendy, accessible and avant-garde*
I’m Norwegian and I would say a well-fitting pair of blue jeans, plus a classic wool winter coat and well-made quality everyday boots would be the must- haves in here Oslo. I think the Scandinavian must-haves in this video are more relevant for teenagers and people in their early twenties. When you pass 25 your priorities change.
Yes, in trondheim it is kinda the same. My go-to's in summer are a nice pair of shorts, flowy wideleg trousers, a denim skirt, and matched with a nice singlet, a flowy cropped shirt, and a t-shirt. In fall/winter I love to wear high waisted jeans with sweaters of every colour
I'm from Finland and to me her tips also seem like a trendy twenty something tips, than something.... eh, stylish? Of course, people in Stockholm have different style taste as me. I'd never ever put on those things! What she's telling about French style makes sense to me though.
I'm Swedish and I live in Stockholm, and I've always felt weird about the compulsion to change style every single year. It's like people don't have any actual personal opinions, they just follow whatever is on fashion at that point. I guess I'm more French in that sense, I really like the thought of finding what fits me, and go for that. I feel a lot freer in that, I don't have to get something new just because a magazine told me my best trousers are no longer "in". Besides, if you want to try to get away from fast fashion, it's kind of impossible to change your style several times a year. And another thing: Justine, where is your petrol blue coat from? It is fantastic! I've been looking for one like that for ages. :)
America is the like that too. I like timeless pieces, but I also really like black, silver, and pastels lol. I don't care if something is on trend or not, but once in a while I'll follow a trend that I really do like the aesthetic of.
*The more secure people are the more they dress for themselves and not to fit into a group.* You see one item on a few people and the following two weeks every other female is wearing the exact same item. It’s almost as if they worry they will be pushed out of their social circle if they don’t obey the current fashion trend. I find this extra interesting when discussing fashion and so many express they dress in clothes they don’t like because it’s what you are ”suppose” to wear, and not what they genuinly feel like wearing. Why live for strangers when it’s your money you spend and the items go on your own body?! Work on meeting those who are insecure and take the right to critique your fashion decisions. And I know so much what you speak of since I grew up in central Stockholm.
Lucky to have lived in both countries...I think one factor makes Scandinavian style unique is that they’re TALL!!! So they can pull off the Acne Studio kinda look really well, which can look really frumpy if you don’t have the height and bone structure.
Great video! As a Scandi myself I think in general people dress very practical here. We need shoes that don't get ruined in a puddle and a coat that can protect us from the rain.
I'm from Finland and I agree with all the Scandinavian "facts" beside the trench. If I'd have to name a third wardrobe essential, it would maybe be a leather jacket or a padded coat.
Yeah I'm Finnish too and I can't really think of a season when we could wear a trench coat! It's always either too cold or too hot. I now live in the UK and I've just started wearing my thin coat (not a trench coat but similar fabric), and I will get a couple of month's wear out of it this season
As a Norwegian I have to agree, from spring until late summer/early fall, it's usually a leather jacket or at least cropped jackets, and for the winter it's usually a padded coat. I also disagree about the jewelry, I rarely see Norwegian women with lots of it..
I'm Swedish but I like the french style more, and how they think. I don't follow trends, I just try to find pieces that look good on me and that I can wear for a long time.
I'm Flemish, Belgian. I would consider my style more French. I also find it funny that of all people Scandinavian people, known for their environmentally progressive ideas, could hold such a consumeristic view on fashion in going for trendy. Guess nobody's perfect! Interesting video.
Me, too! :) Especially about the jewelry, I hardly ever buy myself any, but instead get them as gifts or buy them on "special occasions" like on vacation, so everything has sentimental value. The only scandinavian youtuber I follow is Signe from Use Less, she's Danish and all about capsule wardrobes, sustainability while still staying chique. She mixes french and scandinavian style pretty well I think :)
Oh, it wasn't meant as judgment, a girl loves what a girl loves. It was just very unexpected. Most Scandinavians I know (mostly Finnish I'll admit) seem so functional and down to earth that I just can't seem to picture them as trying to follow trends.
a finn popping in here. i barely own any trendy pieces, or if i do, ive liked them so much that ive worn them a few seasons. and i also skip many trends. im finding myself going towards the more classic and simple pieces. went to stockholm a few weeks ago and a lot of the people seemed to be very on trend. a lot more than in finland imo. maybe we arent as trendy as people in sweden :-) then again everyones different, im sure we can find both types in both countries.
Liked the the use of side-by-side footage to demonstrate the points each of you made; really emphasized the differences/similarities clearly! Enjoyed this very much; TFP : )
I'm Finnish, and when Justine asked about the hairstyle my mind instantly screamed "messy bun" haha. It's everywhere! Combine that with a sweater, leggings and trainers and you've got a 15 year old Scandi girl
We are also sentimental in America about jewelry - my favorite pieces are from family, my husband, friends. Wedding jewelry is a big one, passed down through generations.
It's the contrasts and similarities between different cultures that are so fun and interesting. Also I would like to see a clip that discusses other cultures influence on your own! For instance the oriental influence in fashion in Europe. :)
I'm swedish and I've never been comfortable changing my style with the trends. I've kind of always had "my own style", which is more steered towards timeless pieces. Love having my hair in a bun though! I usually get compliments for being stylish and having my own style even though it's just simple, well fitting clothes of good quality.
@@MathildaFlow Sounds like you have a great sense of style, love that you wear some inherited pieces of jewelry!! You can't go wrong with classic, but individual style!!
Love this collaboration! My two favourite youtubers together! I lived in London and Paris and I'm happy I have sensed the French style correctly when I lived there. My wardrobe went through a big change when I moved from London to Paris, and again when I moved to Amsterdam!
Hi everyone! Happy Sunday! Were these answers what you expected?? 😁 How do you see the style of Scandinavian women? Don't forget to check out Jenny's video, to know what a Scandinavian girl and a French girl wouldn't be caught dead in: th-cam.com/video/duQqBBsBbno/w-d-xo.html
I loved this video - such a fab idea and super interesting. I’d love to do a similar video with you comparing French versus New Zealand fashion. May be tricky given we live a gazillion miles away tho 🙊😂
I'm danish and in the winter we have to dress for the cold, which means spending a lot of money on a big coat and some boots to go with. Even though the clothes have to be warm we still try to be as fashionable as possible :)
I live in Norway and I don't see people trying to follow trends at all cost, or overload on jewelry. And I'd pick a leather jacket or a wooly/warm coat as a staple, rather than a trench coat any day. Fun video though! It's never going to be easy, or possible really, to sum up an entire nation's "style", and Jenny is trying to do 3-in-1 😂
A dream came true by having these two wonderful youtubers in a collab! I haven't realized until now that both of you live in Berlin ♥ I love you girls! Your devoted Slovak fan :)
I absolutely loved this conversation! More of them please whenever possible. While watching this I was bemused; my sister and I and 2.5 yrs apart; I fall down firmly on the French side, except for heels because of back problems, while my sis would easily fit into Scandinavian style. In fact I, who am not always aware of fashion trends, can guess what they are just by looking at how my sis is dressing or wearing her hair. Fascinating!!!!
I mostly agree with Jenny on scandinavian fashion. But i think we "aspire" french fashion were it is practical (and affordable) clothes: One essential piece .. woolen sweater! (well, also a really warm coat) makeup: I am with Justine here, i think most women try to look natural here accessories: Yes, dont mix silver and gold. Actually, i know very few that do wear gold at all. Mostly silver or steel. shoes: Must be practical and warm! Well, you can wear heels in Reykjavik for going out .. but not where i grew up in Vik, cause .. there is nothing to go out anyway and you will just make a clown out of yourself walking around in such shoes. hair: natural long, rugged, i rarely see bangs Then again, i just googled and had to realize that we are not actually considered part of scandinavia lol. I always though we were.
simply_A many still count finland as part of scandinavia when talking about this sort of stuff bc we are pretty similar in many ways, even tho geographically were not part of scandinavia, but fennoscandia
also a thing ive noticed with the jewelry, people with warmer/darker skin color usually suit gold better. at least me being very white and cold undertoned suit silver a lot better. definitely goes with preferance but i think that can also have something to do with it lol
ann oh definitely! My sis' skin color is tan and she can work with gold or silver. Although she prefers gold more! For me, I prefer gold too although my skin color isn't as dark. I think the clothes are also an influence with what matches with what.
This was awesome!! Do more videos like this, please!:) It's really nice to see style differences between cultures. Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for this video! ♥️ I think the biggest thing that effects our fashion and style in Scandinavia is the winter and lack of sunlight. People tend to wear a lot of black, grey and neutral colors and they don't want to attract very much attention. Right now many young people like pastels and candy colors, those look good against our fair skin. I live in a small town - Southern-Finland. Here in Finland we have our own cosmetic line, Lumene. Please check it out! Finnish ladies have loved Lumene for many years.
Loved this collab! I agree with Justine about the jewelry (sentimental pieces being my favorites) but with Jenny on the shoes. Now on to the next one on Jenny's channel.
Light beige trench coat brings up memories from my childhood in Finland, when during 1st of May celebrations everyone was wearing it, with our student hat, serpentine around the neck and bottle of sparkling in one hand and balloon in the other. It was like a style nightmare to me!
As a Swede, I can say I didn't agree with even half of what Jenny said - my style is more classic - so it depends a lot upon taste, as well as what company you keep or how and where you grew up. For instance, sneakers and ballerinas are the BANE of my existence for their soles are too thin. Jogging shoes if I must - or sturdy winter boots at the correct time of year - or heels of a 2cm or 1in.
As I was doing a bit of spring cleaning through my closet I realised a lot my clothes are from Scandi brands (Swedish or Danish). I find their oversized stuff very comfy and effortless (but still paired up with super skinny Nudies :). But I tend to style those pieces the French way, because I absolutely hate bringing too much attention to myself haha...
Filippa K and Acne gets mentioned here (UK) a lot. I have some modal & cotton basics from Samsoe & Samsoe, dresses from Monki and denim items from Cheap Monday. All my clothes are affordable (for a student's budget), but they last if you wash them properly. Nudie jeans are very high quality, but they don't really suit my tiny Asian frame. I bought one, which I had to alter, years ago and they've aged better than any jeans I ever owned. I bought a few chunky wool jumpers in Stockholm years ago. They have that traditional Swedish/Scandi pattern (looks like a Christmas jumper). They've became my fav jumpers. Unfortunately I cut off the tags, but it was just a local store so it might have been an unknown brand anyway. Scotland makes similar items and they're relatively cheaper, but still of good quality.
Here's my two cents on the topic: The difference is all about confidence. In France, you have your inherited jewellery, your classic bags and coats and a strong conviction that it will carry you anywhere; in Sweden it's all about trends because NOBODY in the age span 20-35 has confidence enough to carry a vintage handbag, wear granny's necklace etc and feel fabulous in it because it looks OLD and therefore cannot be "right" - In short; style and fashion in Sweden is more about nervousness with stuck on adjectives ("timeless"..."fresh"..."classy"..) than finding your own personal style and cultivate it.
I really love both these styles. I probably identify more with french style in terms of basics/minimalism but I love the comfort and casualness of Scandi style
Another difference, that you did touch upon a bit but not fully, is that Swedish people that has a less trend driven style generally like to dress in classic clothes that they like a more preppy & sporty look which I rarely seen in France.
Love this and so on point on the Scandinavian style. Just one comment, Finnish women(many) do have a love for strong colours, that difference them from the rest of the Scandinavian women. You can see this especially on big occasion, like weddings, Christmas celebration and so on.. Now I'm of to part 2.. Hugs & sunshine 🌞 N Ps.Hope you had a beautiful Easter J! 🐣 "Glad Påsk!" 🐤 "Hyvää Pääsiäistä!" 🐥
Well, that's probably because Finland isn't a part of Scandinavia, so Finnish women are not "scandinavian". ;) (Nordic, but not Scandinavian.) But yeah, we do seem to love colour a bit more - colour and prints.
Orange Tee True, but the north west part of Finland is a part of the Scandinavian peninsula, but yes you are right! (Nordic and Scandinavian, two separate things..😊) I love the fact that the finnish women are so brave with there choice of colour and prints, tells a lot about the woman.. strong and unique 😘 Halaus ja auringonpaittetta🌞N
Julia Wincent Totally different to what East Europeans tend to wear these days though. Most Finnish women don't like things overly feminine or sexy, we tend to go for the odd trends more than I've seen elsewhere in Europe. For the most part East Europeans are very feminine, romantic dressers.
I’ve always felt that Swedes follow the trends more (like Jenny says) and that Norwegians wear practical items, so long as they have an expensive brand name showing...
I loved watching the style comparisons with you two, and my husband enjoyed watching it with me. He asks if you have done other videos comparing styles like this in other countries? I'd love to see more like this, it was great watching it!

I really enjoyed this video. I am a combination French, Irish, Scottish and totally follow the French style. It makes sense to remain classic as opposed to trendy, however, I think trendy is fine if you can afford to change your wardrobe every year. For me it is better to be classic with quality pieces that stay in style.
I'd say both styles have in common the color mixing, as they tend to the monochrome. Here in Latin America we definetely dress more colorful and love the color contrast, even if it's only a black and white look. Great video!
I was hoping to see you together for a very long time!! I am so happy ❤ I actually discovered Jenny's channel after watching your videos on capsule wardrobe and minimalism. And you are two of my favorite youtubes! Greetings to you both! 😊
I must be French and didn't know it? I never go along with trends and have the same exact style that Justine described . Now it's time to watch the other link! 👍❤
It's so amazing that you two collaborated! I have always found myself loving both french and scandinavian style. I hope to see more collabs with Jenny! How about a style-swap for a day? :D
both of them are articulate and nice spoken persons, they don't talk nonsense like others........I don't have nerves to listen 98% of you tubers, but this two are great and full of useful information .............thank you girls and keep doing what you do
I am 100% French and started watching YT just a few years ago. Never knew until then there was a ‘French style’ and everything Justine said, I have always done without knowing. My best friend calls nonsense some of the French styles.... she is totally American 😁
What are french women dressing for at night??? Also used to follow Jenny Mustard a lot! I didn't recognize her really at first! It's so cool to see you two interact :)
This was cute! The visual comparisons made side by side really help to emphasize the differences. I love that you have been able to collaborate with other TH-camrs lately.
I loved this! And, just as note, I identified more closely with French on everything except the hair - I can’t do bangs & I can appreciate a good messy bun!!!
I’m a Floridian (USA), (born and raised) People just dress however they want to here. If someone wants to dress more extreme/edgy, there’s a market for you. If you want to be understated and classic, there’s a market for you. Most people dress comfortably, lots of long, flowy casual dresses, or jeans and a t shirt, or jeans and button downs. A lot of the more (trendy) fashionable women wear clothes that are very sexy and match, usually fast fashion, but there’s been a huge movement towards sustainability and buying local, and I see fashion diversifying and people wearing whatever the hell they want. It just feels so good to see people freely embracing what they want to wear.
I am Danish... and I would say that the trends mentioned are more or less mostly for fashionistas, who are pretty well of. It is certainly not something that I see as being typical here in Denmark. We tend to be more... conservative, but not necessarily classic.
This was great!!! Plz do more of these, I tend to favor the French style, always have, but the Scandinavian for casual due to weather. And Justine, your hair is so so beautiful, don't even cut it shorter
the bun is very trendy at the moment for the very young French girls too. and the long hair for the young and older. only old ladies wear their hair short.
The Scandinavian style feels really fresh and trendy but I ABSOLUTELY ADORE French style, it's so timeless and classy and make so much sense to me. Awesome video Justine, as always
Scandinavians are incredibly simple, minimal and casual in their style. They wear basic colours. There's minimal "luxury" in Scandinavia. There's not much variety to choose from. You won't instantly find the colour dress you want. 20-30 years ago, in the country side of Denmark, women used to wear trousers with straight cuts like men's trousers. There was no structure. Wealthy people who travel frequently, shop abroad and are able to collect classic and timeless pieces and many youngsters shop online, nowadays. Black is a popular colour in Europe. And most Europeans have several black outfits. Girls in Denmark use tons and tons of makeup. From 13+ years old, their faces are packed with makeup. They're big on makeup. Not so much wearing trendy or different outfits. All in all, Scandinavians are minimalists. They don't have 15-25 pairs of shoes. The capitals are not filled with designer or luxury boutiques. Italy and France are different. London is different in that aspect as well. In some offices, people even wear jeans. Of course not in the ministry or higher positions, but is small offices, they do. You have to remember, they're socialist countries with high tax rates. Scandinavia is more expensive than the U.K and many other countries. People mainly focus on having a house, car and travelling. The rest is mostly saved. Education is free. People don't spend left right and centre. Wealthy people who move out of Scandinavia, tend to splurge a lot more.
Totally disagree with you on the tons and tons of make up. In fact we really noticed the difference between the Irish and Danish girls when I brought my Irish boyfriend home to Denmark last summer. The girls here in Ireland wear so much more make up, they look like drag queens even at 15 or 16 and don’t even get me started on the clothes they wear (or almost wear) on nights out! UK and American reality stars have a lot to answer to! Teenage girls in Denmark were shocked at the pictures of the photos I showed them of Irish teenage girls. The young girls we saw looked very natural. I also disagree with the so called Scandinavian style in this video. Not representative of Danes that I know. The one thing I love about how people dress at home is that it isn’t as age defined as in Ireland for instance. I hate this idea that you should no longer wear something because you are over a certain age. My 74 year old mother and my 72 year old aunt both love clothes. My mum wears leather pants and my aunt wears mini dresses with chunky little boots. My one problem with clothes back in Denmark is that sometimes they are a little dull and boring.
Fergushel I agree. Clothing in Denmark is dull and boring. Sweden and Norway are worse. I rarely shop in Scandinavia. The makeup girls do in Denmark isn't like the drag makeup they do in UK. The technique is different and there's not much colour used. But that doesn't mean that they don't have makeup on. You can clearly tell that they do have makeup on. The drag makeup I've seen in England, is hideous and every other girl does it. That's your observation. Young teenage girls wearing makeup has been a topic in Denmark for years. Sweden and Norway are different. And the country side is a different story too. Young girls there don't use as much colour as girls in other countries, but they pack on foundation and several coats of mascara. That's well known. There have been articles in Denmark about young girls wearing clothes that are too revealing and inappropriate for their age. U.K. Is a different story. Everything in the uk is cheaper and girls nowadays look like drag queens there. And many Europeans don't even follow trends from the US. What you've observed, depends on what place you visited. And if you went during tourism season such as the summer, then you were surrounded by other tourists so your observation could very well not be of Danes themselves. I go as a local, not as a tourist. I lived half of my life in Denmark. I have local friends and family there. Danish girls and women do use makeup, a lot of it. They just don't use a lot of funky colours at once. But they definitely have layers of foundation, mascara, sometimes bronzer and some have drawn on eyebrows. And yes, young teenage girls do it too. Girls did it when I was in school, in Denmark and it's only become worse since I left. By the time they're in 8th or 9th grade, many girls are dressing up for normal school days. Don't even talk about college. Of course, there are girls who don't start that young. But compared to where I live now, young girls in Denmark definitely start doing their makeup early. England is way worse. I've observed that from visiting england for years, knowing and meeting locals of all age groups. I can imagine US being worse than england, that's why there are so many "back to school" makeup and hair tutorials by American MUAs. Many girls change as they get older. The lifestyle in Europe requires you to have a job from a young age. Some girls grow out of it, while others don't. You can't compare Danes to Irish people. Danes don't have access to the same makeup brands and retail stores as in Ireland. If they did, they would probably dress similar. There's a lack of variety in Denmark. Sweden and Norway are worse than Denmark. There's no luxury in Norway. Many Danes have started shopping online, as online stores have more variety and people want lower taxes so that they can buy more with their money.
Aisha This is interesting to read because lots of scandinavian brands which are bigger in other countries like Vila or Noa Noa have a basic but clever and smooth style with nice little details and softer colours like sand-beige, dusty pink, pale grey,...etc. For people who are deeply into fashion and unique trends northern europe seems not the ideal place but general it isn't too bad being practical and functional and don't focus too much on clothing. And I realised personaly and from the comments here that the people focus on good quality shoes and coats because of the weather conditions.
It was great to see the differences ...and to discover that I am a french style woman without knowing it :))) I would say that Scandinavian trend goes more for fast fashion but French goes more for classy, elegant.... timeless! Love them both 😘
That's intersting, I'm from Finland and my view of the scandinavian style isn't at all this. Maybe it is influenced by what I see here in Finland and that is more bold but clean cuts (think Marimekko), stripes, natural colors and nature inspired it both materials and patterns. I wouldn't wear sneakers for anything formal, a messy bun on the top of the head is something 10-20 year old women do but not that much when you are over 25 years of age. Of these two I would go for the french style!
Wow! Been watching both of you on your channels, but it was so nice to see you together! As much as they differ, european cultures are not so different! Think about inviting Amber Scholl, for example, then we all wil have a cultural difference in the most instructive way :-) Thank you for a lovely afternoon video!
Great video with 2 adorable ladies ❤️Years ago when I was an architecture student living in the hipster side of the city , I tried quite hard to create a Scandinavian look, a cool look. As time went by I became more and more fascinated by the French style , something more timeless, feminine, subtle and elegant. This shift in style has in many ways changed the way I feel about myself .
I have noticed this interesting phenomenon in Denmark, and many other western countries. We still consider traditionally classic/feminine women as the 'most attractive' ones subconsciously, and men are asking for more feminine women (this is normal according to our biology). At the same time, we culturally shame them for being too girly/traditional/boring/submissive/etc. So many women grow up partially wanting to be feminine, but also feeling ashamed of wanting to be. Both because it is supposedly shameful to want that, and also because they are afraid of other peoples reactions, or being taken advantage of. I think this is why I like the french style; it is feminine and classic, and I have always wanted to be that. (though I have also been afraid to be). It is embracing your femininity, but you are still free to define it in your own way; but mostly you don't seem to be shamed for dressing how you want to. I do like a lot about the scandinavian style aspects as well though, we are not all wrong. :)
I’m Italian and live in the UK. I find Italian style to be very very similar to the French one you describe. Style, class, quality, balance and natural beauty. Instead here women tend to use rrrrreally to much make up and the average fashion choice is not my taste, so to speak! Thanks for your videos, keep up the excellent work!
Hi I’m from Sri Lanka. I don’t know if you have ever heard my country but I really enjoy your style tips. They are very professional and applicable universally.
I'm raised in France and Sweden. And the biggest differences in style are the following:
*French = Chic and timeless*
*Swedish = trendy, accessible and avant-garde*
I’m Norwegian and I would say a well-fitting pair of blue jeans, plus a classic wool winter coat and well-made quality everyday boots would be the must- haves in here Oslo. I think the Scandinavian must-haves in this video are more relevant for teenagers and people in their early twenties. When you pass 25 your priorities change.
@Thornback Same in Northern Sweden. Stocholmers really have a thing of their own.
I agree. I'm Norwegian too.
I'm from Finland and to me her tips also seem like a trendy twenty something tips, than something.... eh, stylish? Of course, people in Stockholm have different style taste as me. I'd never ever put on those things! What she's telling about French style makes sense to me though.
You can tell how proud Justine is of French style! Love the slightly mischievous smile and sparkle in the eyes ;)
my coat is from Comptoir des Cotonniers (from a year when that color was everywhere - right now it is almost impossible to find)
I think all the French style is about '' how to forget fashion '' that's why timeless clothes are our preferred
America is the like that too. I like timeless pieces, but I also really like black, silver, and pastels lol. I don't care if something is on trend or not, but once in a while I'll follow a trend that I really do like the aesthetic of.
same almost in Denmark, trends rule people alot.
*The more secure people are the more they dress for themselves and not to fit into a group.*
You see one item on a few people and the following two weeks every other female is wearing the exact same item.
Agreed!
I live in Stockholm, and I hardly ever see trenchcoats! When the weather gets warmer it’s all about the cropped jackets.
I agree with you. I thought she will mention stripes . Or flower prints for some reason.😂 Finnish girls uniform in a way.
lol
As a Norwegian I have to agree, from spring until late summer/early fall, it's usually a leather jacket or at least cropped jackets, and for the winter it's usually a padded coat. I also disagree about the jewelry, I rarely see Norwegian women with lots of it..
I'm Swedish but I like the french style more, and how they think. I don't follow trends, I just try to find pieces that look good on me and that I can wear for a long time.
this is so much fun ! it's so cool to see myself on your channel, hihi ! :)
same for me! I have your video in my subscription feed and it feels weird :-D
You two are the best youtubers in my opinion. Great to see you both working together. This video was perfect.
elegant work you two! looking fwd to seeing the series ;-D
I didn't come on any channel but it was fun watching both videos😘 .....

Nice collab!!! And how wonderfully unexpected!!!! Two of my favorite TH-camrs together 🤗
I'm Flemish, Belgian. I would consider my style more French. I also find it funny that of all people Scandinavian people, known for their environmentally progressive ideas, could hold such a consumeristic view on fashion in going for trendy. Guess nobody's perfect! Interesting video.
It can also be seen as a fun hobby?
In my opinion it comes from the fact that they often admire (in this context) American (pop) culture :) (no juging intended either :p)
a finn popping in here. i barely own any trendy pieces, or if i do, ive liked them so much that ive worn them a few seasons. and i also skip many trends. im finding myself going towards the more classic and simple pieces. went to stockholm a few weeks ago and a lot of the people seemed to be very on trend. a lot more than in finland imo. maybe we arent as trendy as people in sweden :-) then again everyones different, im sure we can find both types in both countries.
I live in Sweden, everyone here wears full black clothes 😂
Same in Finland
One thing both of you are is efficient! I love a video that gets straight to the topic, no long intros carrying on and on about absolutely nothing.
Liked the the use of side-by-side footage to demonstrate the points each of you made; really emphasized the differences/similarities clearly! Enjoyed this very much; TFP : )
I'm more French-oriented when it comes to dressing myself, though I'd go for Scandi interior design (maybe because I love building IKEA flatpacks).
Classic hair French style is bangs with messy medium hair. Just like you wake up in the morning!
I like how respectful you both are in talking about differences in fashion styles. Love this
I'm Finnish, and when Justine asked about the hairstyle my mind instantly screamed "messy bun" haha. It's everywhere! Combine that with a sweater, leggings and trainers and you've got a 15 year old Scandi girl
We are also sentimental in America about jewelry - my favorite pieces are from family, my husband, friends. Wedding jewelry is a big one, passed down through generations.
Justine please do more of these, it would be so informative and interesting! (comparing cultures)
I second this!
Ha ha I asked the same thing on Jenny's channel!
French style all the way !!
It's the contrasts and similarities between different cultures that are so fun and interesting. Also I would like to see a clip that discusses other cultures influence on your own! For instance the oriental influence in fashion in Europe. :)
TangerineTangerine that would be super cool!
I'm swedish and I've never been comfortable changing my style with the trends. I've kind of always had "my own style", which is more steered towards timeless pieces. Love having my hair in a bun though! I usually get compliments for being stylish and having my own style even though it's just simple, well fitting clothes of good quality.
And oh, I LOVE my jewelry that I've inherited from my grandmother or great grandmother.
Wouldn't the weather have a big impact on fashion choices? I would think that coats would be important in areas that get snow. And boots.
It's never going to be easy, or possible really, to sum up an entire nation's "style", and Jenny is trying to do 3-in-1 😂
Justine Leconte officiel ♥️🤗
Justiiine I guessed all your answers in advance! which means I really learned from you the French style basics : )
Lo Bass me too 😄😎
Two of my favorite youtubers together!!! Planets must be aligned!
Following you both from the beginning it is totally weird and perfectly normal at the same time, seeing you both together. Love LOVE!!
Although I am three times more Scandinavian than French, I have to say I follow the French style on each if the ten topics that you discussed. 😏
French have it figured out. It's tough to find quality clothes in Stockholm, unless you are 170 cm and 60 Kg.
Helen lanning Same! I was actually kind of embarrassed by the Scandi style...
Justine and Jenny! Love it! I'm in the middle of these 2 styles. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I like how sneakers were not even on the radar screen for Justine.
Its like she was scandalized I enjoyed her reaction a lot 😂😂😂
A dream came true by having these two wonderful youtubers in a collab! I haven't realized until now that both of you live in Berlin ♥ I love you girls! Your devoted Slovak fan :)
I absolutely loved this conversation! More of them please whenever possible. While watching this I was bemused; my sister and I and 2.5 yrs apart; I fall down firmly on the French side, except for heels because of back problems, while my sis would easily fit into Scandinavian style. In fact I, who am not always aware of fashion trends, can guess what they are just by looking at how my sis is dressing or wearing her hair. Fascinating!!!!
french style is the best! you can't go wrong with a french style. It's classy and timeless:)
Right ! But I do no think that Justine is really an ambassador for the French style, she is too old school !
I mostly agree with Jenny on scandinavian fashion. But i think we "aspire" french fashion were it is practical (and affordable)
clothes: One essential piece .. woolen sweater! (well, also a really warm coat)
makeup: I am with Justine here, i think most women try to look natural here
accessories: Yes, dont mix silver and gold. Actually, i know very few that do wear gold at all. Mostly silver or steel.
shoes: Must be practical and warm! Well, you can wear heels in Reykjavik for going out .. but not where i grew up in Vik, cause .. there is nothing to go out anyway and you will just make a clown out of yourself walking around in such shoes.
hair: natural long, rugged, i rarely see bangs
Then again, i just googled and had to realize that we are not actually considered part of scandinavia lol. I always though we were.
still, it is interesting to read about the style in your country!
Same with Finland :D we are Nordic country but not part of Scandinavia, even tho we are so close ;D but style is pretty much the same
simply_A many still count finland as part of scandinavia when talking about this sort of stuff bc we are pretty similar in many ways, even tho geographically were not part of scandinavia, but fennoscandia
also a thing ive noticed with the jewelry, people with warmer/darker skin color usually suit gold better. at least me being very white and cold undertoned suit silver a lot better. definitely goes with preferance but i think that can also have something to do with it lol
ann oh definitely!
Yayyy 2 of my favorites! This is my kind of sunday
Mi Christina me too!
Stocholm is not representing Scandinavia. When going there everybody is following latest trends and look more similar than rest scandi-capitals.
Interesting comparisons from two countries that I love. Thank you for excellent material as always Justine.
Loved this collab! I agree with Justine about the jewelry (sentimental pieces being my favorites) but with Jenny on the shoes. Now on to the next one on Jenny's channel.
Chariots1981 I'm agree too on jewelry, I never wear cheap jewelry, there is no history, it's so sad
Great to see two of my favorite TH-camrs together! Look forward to Jenny's video, too!
Teshyra agree!!!
Rahmi what are some good Scandinavian brands?
Here's my two cents on the topic:
The difference is all about confidence.
Collab of dreams!
I can't think of one Finnish woman who would usually wear strong colours - except my own mother and a couple of middle aged teachers.
Finland isn’t in Scandinavia:) I agree, you can see a bit more of an eastern european influence in finish fashion.
Julia Wincent Totally different to what East Europeans tend to wear these days though. Most Finnish women don't like things overly feminine or sexy, we tend to go for the odd trends more than I've seen elsewhere in Europe. For the most part East Europeans are very feminine, romantic dressers.
More like this, where you compare cultures please!!! Love it!
Omg so cool I ❤️ you both!! What a wonderful video today! 💕💕💕
I’ve always felt that Swedes follow the trends more (like Jenny says) and that Norwegians wear practical items, so long as they have an expensive brand name showing...
Swedes dress like the Norwegians, practical yet quite expensive branded clothing.
And Danes just wear oversized, unshapely things (I’m a Dane, so I’m allowed to say that).
I loved watching the style comparisons with you two, and my husband enjoyed watching it with me. He asks if you have done other videos comparing styles like this in other countries? I'd love to see more like this, it was great watching it!
I love French fashion more though. Anyway, you both so beautiful and nice accents.
What a nice surprise to see you both in one video! Love your channels

Great idea to compare styles with other European countries!
Loving these two classy women ❤❤and loved the video !
I really enjoyed this video. I am a combination French, Irish, Scottish and totally follow the French style. It makes sense to remain classic as opposed to trendy, however, I think trendy is fine if you can afford to change your wardrobe every year. For me it is better to be classic with quality pieces that stay in style.
wooow! 2 of my favourite stars together! ♡♡♡
love these two, so great to see them together
lovely idea... we don't have the same size at all, unfortunately :-)
+Justine Leconte officiel You could do a make up/hair style swap instead. Jenny gets a long dark wig and you shave off your eyebrows ;-)
both of them are articulate and nice spoken persons, they don't talk nonsense like others........I don't have nerves to listen 98% of you tubers, but this two are great and full of useful information .............thank you girls and keep doing what you do
Justine, your long hair is so beautiful!
sdraper2011. Yes, long like a princess, Gorgeous,
I LOVE THIS! My 2 fave youtube gals together at last!
Thankyou great video, classic variations, love both your styles, very interesting and fun. 🌸🌸
Can’t believe you two collaborated. 😭 Gorgeous, intelligent, well-spoken women...thank you so much for this!
I loved this too, and yes do more like it. I definitely fall more under the french girl category,
This was cute! The visual comparisons made side by side really help to emphasize the differences. I love that you have been able to collaborate with other TH-camrs lately.
I loved this! And, just as note, I identified more closely with French on everything except the hair - I can’t do bangs & I can appreciate a good messy bun!!!
I’m a Floridian (USA), (born and raised)
People just dress however they want to here.
This is a wonderful video! Thank you Justine and Jenny! x
I loved the video and the chat, I think most people recognise their locals when they are abroad :)) there is something about each nationality
And Justine, your hair is so so beautiful, don't even cut it shorter
the bun is very trendy at the moment for the very young French girls too. and the long hair for the young and older. only old ladies wear their hair short.
cranberrybe I think that if you get a really good cut that suits your hair type from a good stylist and the length doesn’t matter
The Scandinavian style feels really fresh and trendy but I ABSOLUTELY ADORE French style, it's so timeless and classy and make so much sense to me. Awesome video Justine, as always
I love you two so much!!
SO SO happy to see you together girls ! Would you go for some more videos together maybe ? It's so interesting !
Please do more of these videos exploring different styles with people from other countries! Maybe do Germany next? 😄
They both live in Germany so they can see every day what people are wearing.
I love learning about beauty in different cultures! Thanks!
Wealthy people who move out of Scandinavia, tend to splurge a lot more.
thanks a lot for sharing your insights. I love to learn about other cultures!!
Fergushel
I agree.
Danish people look like they are wearing each others clothes. So unisex, so genderless.
Uuuh yes 😊 It was a secret wish of mine, for you to meet/watch her videos/get to know JennyMustard! I like this comparing video idea.
It was really interesting to hear about two countries fashion and habits.
Of these two I would go for the french style!
interesting to see a different opinion! Thanks for sharing :-)
Most Finnish women dresses are just bland
Great questionnaire! Really I see now the big difference between these two styles
WHAAAAAT? two of my faves together?
No way! I follow and adore both of you inspirational ladies!! This is awesome :D
Wow! Been watching both of you on your channels, but it was so nice to see you together!
As much as they differ, european cultures are not so different! Think about inviting Amber Scholl, for example, then we all wil have a cultural difference in the most instructive way :-)
Thank you for a lovely afternoon video!
Lorelei Hahaha Amber.. That girl is full of energy. I like her!
The collaboration I've waited for my whole life
The best collaboration I could've dreamed of! ♥️
French women are the queens of style 😊 Justine i would love to watch a video about french savoir vivre
any specific question? :-)
There are lot of different styles which are all fine in their own way but french are the queens if it comes to being classic and chic :)
Hi I’m from Sri Lanka. I don’t know if you have ever heard my country but I really enjoy your style tips. They are very professional and applicable universally.
