  • Highly requested video! This is how I do my makeup in 5 minutes everyday (so it is a quick and easy routine that works even if you are in a rush), for a natural looking and minimal look. I use only 8 products and foundation is not one of them ;-)
    I guess you could call this a French makeup routine.
    Thumbs up if you enjoyed this video!
    Update: I've put together a free PDF guide called 7 RULES TO TIMELESS STYLE, to help you build your style in a more timeless way. Get your copy here: www.justinelec... 😘
    New videos: Wednesday 4pm (new time!!) & Sunday 12pm (Paris/Berlin time).
    Take care!

    I'M WEARING:
    Jewelry: bit.ly/2TngX9G
    - Day care:
    Garnier Ultra Lift SPF 15 - very nourishing, although my skin is "normal" and not dry. To avoid if you have oily / unclear skin because it would be too nourishing for you.
    I also use e.g. Eucerin Hyaluron filler day care for dry skin - rather in winter: amzn.to/2vzW2C0
    - BB cream:
    Garnier BB cream for combination/oily skin in "light" - on top of the nourishing day care, to mattify. Low coverage, it is not like a foundation.
    - Concealer:
    Essence camouflage cream concealer in "010 natural beige". Good coverage, blend in well all around the undereye area.
    - Rouge:
    Essence Mosaic Compact Powder in "01 sunkissed beauty" - with light, medium and darker tones to set different accents.
    When I am really tanned, I switch to La Roche Posay Unifiance Anti-Dryness Compact Powder in "04 beige soleil".
    - Brows:
    Eyebrow Cake Powder in "02 dark brown" - I use the lighter one of the two to make my eyebrows look fuller: amzn.to/2ghmLl3
    If I need more contrast (e.g. to be photographed or filmed by a camera), I make my brows even darker with Benefit Precisely My Brow nb. 5: amzn.to/2wISnqx
    - Under the brows:
    Benefit High Brow highlighting pencil for cool skin (pinkish) to catch more light and to make my brows appear "higher" on my forehead: amzn.to/2vzuU66
    - Mascara:
    La Roche Posay Respectissime waterproof mascara for sensitive eyes with bee wax in black: amzn.to/2wzi7oO
    - Lips:
    Galerie Noémie matte lip ink (I think it is not sold anymore but there are similar "ink" textures available).

      I feel like Instagram started out as an outlet for artists to express themselves and is now becoming a huge source of pressure on girls so that they wear lots of makeup...
      I LOVE makeup, I do crazy stuff all the time for my Instagram, but for everyday I prefer natural makeup (or even no makeup) and I do wish it would become a trend instead of the full coverage foundations and endless cutcreases and liquid lipsticks...

      Amanda, I agree...ain't nobody got time for that! lol It's just unnecessary, these young women already have beautiful skin and they slather that stuff on like they're greasing a cake pan! I love using loose powder to spot conceal only where needed and even then it's just "dot, dot, and go".

    You may not be a make-up artist, but for me, this is the best of the many makeup videos I have seen. So good to see someone working with their actual features instead of with some picture in their head, and without caking on the product! Not to mention that I love the 5-minutes part. I always giggle when TH-camrs say they are going to show their everyday makeup routine, and then it takes 25 minutes. Sadly, I am not enough of an organizing genius that I could free up 25 minutes for makeup every day...

      +Jamieson Paine Way to get offended over nothing. She meant the average working woman that doesn't have the time and energy to put on makeup like a fashion model for a photo shoot. And yes, most women don't wear tons of makeup every day, but still want to look polished. Many TH-camrs don't have normal working class schedules, so their makeup routine is longer.

    Mind blowingly simple and chic, Justine! I live in Paris and so many people here love natural makeup. It is such a French thing, and so much better. I only wear a little tinted moisturiser, concealer, brow wax, rouge, a bit of smudged kohl eyeliner (my eyes are black but my skin is white, so the contrast looks ridiculous without eyeliner) and a lipstick I 'made' by melting a nude Mac colour and adding it to lip balm! Like your routine (which I am now wanting to try!) it only takes 5 minutes and then wham - off to work/pilates/yoga/dance around the living room! I also hate the waterproof mascaras and I am so definitely going to try the one you have - bound to have it in a local Pharmacie! I grew up in another country but since coming to Paris, my makeup has been much neater and simpler and more natural, and I feel like a human being when I wear it! Thank you so much for this wonderful video and for showing your lovely smooth skin and kindly smile to us!! You always make me laugh and brighten up my day during an otherwise quite tough part of my life :)

      I'm looking forward to moving back to Europe where people appreciate a more natural aesthetic, especially on women over 50. There's a difference between looking like a more awake, improved version of yourself and looking like you're ready to go on camera for a TV show. I live outside LA, and everything is so overdone and so fake. I finally found a hair stylist who encourages me to just wear my hair long and simple, instead wanting to do one of those horrible spiky frosted hairdos that so many older American women have. My makeup routine depends on if I'm leaving the house or not (I work from home). When I'm going out, it's tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, under-eye concealer, brow pencil, mascara, blush, and lip gloss/lipstick. I only add eye shadow and liner if I'm going out at night or to a formal event. The older you get, the worse too much make up looks on you.

    Nice to see someone do a natural 'no fuss' routine. I sometimes see young girls running around, who clearly got their make up advice from youtube tutorials...and I always want to grab them, and tell them that this may look good on camera (or in a club) but really isn't daylight appropriate. You can just see everything, the foundation and powder, the conturing, the blush...😮...it looks ridiculous, made worse by the fact, that these are pretty young women who wouldn't even need make up, really.

    • @JeddieMPB
      @JeddieMPB 7 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      Rara Avis maybe don't shame people who want to wear makeup considering it's their faces and what they want to put on them. Some people love not wearing makeup and others love having a full face on everyday. It's up to them, not you.

    • @KatsLifestyle
      @KatsLifestyle 7 ปีที่แล้ว +104

      Jeddie Biggers it is not necessarily about shaming someone. The problem is that the so-called instagram makeup can make you look cartoonish even though that wasn't the look you were going for :-)

    • @raraavis7782
      @raraavis7782 7 ปีที่แล้ว +145

      Jeddie Biggers Um...there is a big difference between 'shaming' someone and disagreeing with their fashion choices. They are absolutely entiteled to put on as much make up as they want to....and I'm absolutely entiteled to think that skin covered by several layers of caked on make up covered by powder looks unattractive in harsh daylight. I made a general statement expressing my personal opinion on the matter - I didn't attack anyone and I wasn't particularly harsh or condescending in my choice of words either (certainly not by youtube standards). Maybe I should have written 'unflattering' instead of 'ridiculous', I'll give you that, but I think in the context of the rest of my posting it's pretty obvious that it wasn't my intention to make anyone feel bad about themselves. However, if you did feel attacked by what I wrote, I'm genuinely sorry about that. I've been on the receiving end of disparaging comments about my personal style myself a couple of times in my life and I would never intentionally do or say anything hurtful or condescending to an actual person.

    I love the natural way you keep by putting on minimal. I am not a fan of those “doll-like” make up faces, nor would I spend hours putting layers and layers of make up. I used to say to myself (when I was younger), imagine having those layers on, you have a new partner and then you wake up next to him the following morning, looking totally different from the person he saw the night before! How scary would that be. LOL. Once I signed up as a volunteer to have my face “dressed up”. As soon as it was done, I had a feeling my skin was not breathing. I could not wait to get home to wash it all off! Natural is the way to go.

    The only thing I do anymore is cover up redness and blemishes (I do get the occasional zit) and sometimes the circles under my eyes. When I'm going out, I apply mascara and some lipstick. Some days, I don't apply anything to my face at all. I've gone from never leaving the house without strong eyeliner and eyeshadow to doing the absolute minimum. My goal for the future is to implement a better skin scare routine that will allow me to get away with never using concealer/foundation again (or at least a lot less frequently). I love wearing close to zero makeup. It's so liberating and a huge time saver too :D

      nervengewitter Same!! It seems like there are more and more of us these days doing that. I got really into the youtube beauty stuff and, embarrassingly, bought soooo much expensive stuff at Sephora and beyond in the course of 2 years or so. Foundation plus concealer plus color corrector plus contour and blush and highlight and 5 colors of eyeshadow and liner and mascara....omg it was horrible and heavy and my skin hated it, yielding the need for more makeup to cover the skin problems.
      Now I do a light layer of Bare Minerals foundation, Perricone MD No-Eyeshadow Eyeshadow, mascara, and some blush, and my skin is happier and I look more like myself. I see more women going natural now vs. the full-face!

      Mineral powder foundation can be a great in between when you're transitioning from wearing liquid foundation and concealer to as little base as possible. Some look incredibly shiny :/ but if you find one that works well with your skin and has a finish you like it's so easy to apply a very sheer layer and feels like nothing. :)

    I can't remember what was I doing with my face at Justine's age? Mascara and bronzer/blush for sure, moisturiser. Didn't even think about genes, collagen, etc. Since I hit 50 and then on, every morning I discover yet another thing that should be "lifted up" so that I look more awake and fresh. Except for the dark circles (not running in my family), you name it, I have it. I end up with a bit more defined eyebrows, eye lushes dark and curled and blush or bronzer. The rest of It? I stay away from magnifying mirrors and enjoy watching young and fresh faces around me with or without makeup and have smile on my face:) In 5 minutes I can't "lift up" even my coffee cup, let alone anything on my face:)))))

And I also use the brow pencil from Benefit, it is one of my personal favorite makeup tricks. One thing I do notice in all your videos is that your face is a totally different color than your neck and throat and those are both different from your neckline. I think it would be a good thing if they were all the same color. Otherwise, you look like you forgot something, and the end result is that you are 3-striped! It does look like you miss the front of your throat, dragging your hands downward on the sides. Don't drag, pat! and forgetting the front of your throat. Perhaps the camera?, but all your videos show a very light esophagus and color on the outside of your throat. Just a suggestion? Good video, BTW. Just what I needed.

    One product I really love is Perricone MD No-Eyeshadow Eyeshadow. I have veins and some discoloration on my eyelids so I can't go totally bare, but I love the natural look. That product covers all the "bad" but doesn't look like makeup, and doesn't crease or anything like concealers do. I stocked up from Costco because they were selling it much cheaper than Sephora 😊😊

    Good Morning Justine, I love the make tutorial that you did. the natural look and letting your beauty show, less is best. I did learn something this morning the under brow highlighting pencil I love the way it just open the eye. And in five minute your done. I think as an aging woman a mature woman of my age tent to go a little heavy handed with their make up. I love the nature look something that make the glow of a youthful skin. • @justineleconte
      @justineleconte  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I almost never use eye makeup because of 2 reasons: 1. My eyes hurt when I put almost ANYTHING on them, I can't imagine wearing eye makeup and work at the same time, so I only apply it when I am going out with friends or things like that, when I can deal with eyes pain more easily. 2. The skin around the eyes is very thin and easy to harm so I don't like the idea of rubbing on my eyes everyday to remove my eye makeup, it will give me wrinkles super quickly!. Am I the only one with these concerns?

    I hope young women everyehere see this and learn from you. I feel this is the first basic understanding any young woman needs. From here you can decide to add a littlr something depending on whatnyou are wearing or the occasion if you want to be visibly "made up", but when you are young, chosing only one feature, like a red lip, OR fuller lashes, OR a bright color highlight by the eye is SO much better than the full face of makeup like a mask thatbI see young women wearing before lunch everywhere (and in the cosmetics section of department stores). I don't knoe how that trend has taken over. Makes young women look so tired and aged with all those layers.

    I’d call this a ‘proper’ makeup because all the techniques are the same.. increasing the contrast is the basic philosophy of makeup as well. I’m not sure why at the beginning you made us believe that it’s a no makeup tutorial. It’s a no-foundation-make-up that’s all. Plus not everyone does makeup to change their features. It’s a additional art that one can perform and you choose not to.. You don’t have to pass the judgment to folks who use this art to be multiple different people at once

    Beautiful and natural looking results, but use much lighter finger pressure and avoid stretching the skin when applying moisturizer and makeup around the lower and upper eye areas. You will regret it about age 50, if not sooner.

    I love it! No fuss and beautiful! Skincare is key. Sun protection is a must. I have very strong face lines and features, and if I try the Instagram style (or even several levels below it) I end up looking like a full drag queen performer. Truth about makeup is: forget what other are doing. Find your own style, your own little technique and what works for your everyday and go for it, regardless of trends. I do not pluck my eyebrows, for example. My skin is sensitive, it hurts like hell, and I do not even have that many hairs to pluck anyway. Suddenly, I am fashionable now. Hahahaha
