    Learn how to throw a Muay Thai body kick correctly. This video features Ann Denlangu teaching how to throw the basic Muay Thai kick. While there are some variations among fighters, the basic principles of the kicks remain the same.
    It is important to understand that Muay Thai kicks can be devastating if you land them correctly. It is important for you to focus on trying to work on your technique first, before you focus on power.
    One of the keys to perfecting the kick is turning your hips. Not turning your hips over is the number one mistake that I notice people make when they kick.
    Another common mistake that people make when throwing a kick is not to return to a balanced position. I often see people throw kicks and become off balance when they kick.
    Special thanks to Ann Denlangu for teaching this technique.

    Wow. The hip drill was a subtle detail that I’ve been missing. My coaches instruct us to elevate and pivot on our toes, I really like the idea of just spending some time breaking the kick down into steps.

    Decent video. You are getting more experienced every day. I would like to ask. I am right hand leg dominant, writing kicking etc. My left kicks are lacking a lot. I can do whatever I want with the right leg but I can't seem to feel and throw left kicks good yet. I'm sure it will be better if I practice more , I thought maybe you have any practice ideas for orthodox players to kick with the left

    • @kabadayi333
      @kabadayi333 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got the same problem! But my trainer told me that kicking with you less dominant leg will be much easier, because it is easier 'to let it go'. Atleast for me it is. The dominant leg has often tendencies like using too much power instead of the right technique , because you're used to using that leg. Your left leg will start with a blanco canvas..... enjoy the ride!

    • @Muaythaipros
      @Muaythaipros  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Best thing that happened to my left kick was injuring my right leg after a fight. I wasn't able to kick for a 2 months with my right leg, and used my left kick only. That made my left kick my favorite weapon. Practice using both legs, but if you have a weaker side, emphasize that side.

    I see some Thai fighters like Ann keep their kicking leg almost straight when doing the kick, other fighters I see almost fully chamber the leg when doing the kick. Is there any reason for that or is the straight leg just more traditional? Cheers.

    • @Muaythaipros
      @Muaythaipros  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every fighter will have a slight variation in terms of how their leg looks. You will notice that in Kickboxing they tend to keep the leg bent, while Muay Thai fighters they have a straighter leg.

    So is the toes coming up an after effect of the explosive hip turn? Rather than focusing on turning with the toes first then the hips?

    • @elijahayite2297
      @elijahayite2297 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cant turn your hips like he does in this kick without turning your foot around otherwise your knee would snap as the knee does not rotate. And in order for your foot to rotate it cant be flat as their would be to much friction between it and the floor which would prevent your foot from turning, therefore the foot must come up onto the balls of the toes in order to turn.
