  • Learning how to block kicks correctly is a fundamental skill in Muay Thai. A proper Muay Thai kick allows you to stay balanced and under control when you are under attack. It also allows you to respond with a strike of your own.
    It is important to focus on having good posture and balance every time you block kicks. This video will teach you some common mistakes that people make when they block Muay Thai kicks. These mistakes can easily be fixed with a few small changes.

      Glad you appreciate the fundamentals. Most people just want to see "5 combos that will KO your next opponent" type videos, but those don't actually help people learn.

    I've been taught going on your toes is good for checking.
    Of course, unlike the example they show, you're supposed to lean into it, not away from it.
    Same concept as kicking or kneeing, you push your weight into them which I thought was supposed to be the whole concept behind muay thai, using your body weight.

      Doing it on your toes can be good sometimes. Maybe for bracing for impact but if you can block and counter sometimes toes isn’t bad

    Nice and useful practical tips which I will make sure implement in the tragedy that is my Muay Thai game. I just need to tell you, the Thai coach, I might spell his name wrong, if so - excuse me, it is not intentional and I would be happy to be corrected, Ann, his English is really understandable. I do not think you need to repeat what he says, he really speaks clearly and well.

    Thank you for sharing.
    I need to ask you something.
    Do you block with the shin bone, or the lateral side of the leg.
    And woh do you do to not get hurt when you use this block.
    Thank you

    • @Muaythaipros
      @Muaythaipros  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Block with your bone, otherwise your leg muscle will get rekt from the side

    Pretty interesting claim about keeping your foot flat on the ground, im training at chitalada finland under milja heino (3 time world muay thai female champion) and they teach to rise on your "toes" when blocking. Theres quite a bit of techniques on this channel that are executed the opposite of what im being taught.

    • @Muaythaipros
      @Muaythaipros  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There is variations in technique that are taught among the Thais. Ann was one of the top fighters in Thailand in his prime and is known for his beautiful style. Choose whatever technique that works for you. In fact, why don't you show your trainer this video, and they will tell you it is perfect technique.

    Of course. Sad that you have to say/show that. Massive impact needs massive stance.
