Most herds I check every day. Minimum every second day or so as well here. Too bad about the calf, but we lose the odd one too on pasture. Bears, pneumonia, wolves, are all culprits for any summer loses around here.

Losing a calf in the summer is a real pizzz off! I have a feeling a big ole black bear got it. 🤦♂️

"ted bunty" was an absolute killer when you'd go into the pen with his bottle but he got weaned off now thankfully.
