Ranching and Farming in the middle of Canada on the sometimes very COLD & sometimes very HOT prairies!! 🇨🇦 We are a 4th generation cattle ranch, however we weren't always ranchers. I actually resigned from my government job of 15 years to pursue the Agricultural Industry. It was the best move of my life and have absolutely no regrets about my choice to come back to the family farm. My wife and children love the farm life as much as I do making my decision a no brainer. Had a big cow 🐮 in early labour yesterday. Came out to do cattle checks this morning and found her with Big Twin Calves, one had agonal respirations & the other was cool to the touch. I tore the membranes off them and started carrying out our Winter Calving Emergency 🆘 protocol which I briefly describe in this video.

@@erbrygogy Really depends on the operator. If you are running all brand new equipment and don’t have adequate number of animals to cover those expenses then probably not. However for example right now the markets strong and if you are an efficient operator you can make a dollar if you’re smart about it. Cheers 🍻 from PSR.
@@PrairieSunsetRanchThank you very much for your answer. To be more specific i moved to Australia 6 months ago and am planning to do some courses related to Livestock and agriculture. TAFE courses (certificate 3 in agriculture and Livestock management). Since i come from a retail business background my knowledge from beef cattle mainly comes from the internet. So for my future projects after i"ve completed my courses, and some interships i would like to acquiere a land expand my business. Thank you again.
@@erbrygogy Sounds great! Wishing you only the best in the future. As a side note it is great becoming educated about livestock. But if you have an opportunity try and spend some time on a cattle Ranch. Just helping out or observing how it is run. Gather all the experiences and strong points/weak points and draw up a make sense plan for your operation. Every operation is different so make sure to operate how you deem necessary. You are honestly going to learn the most once you jump into it. One BIG point is try to keep your overhead expenses low as possible as you do not want to get in over your head. Ive been stacking and covering loose with drive over method. Works ok. Pain to feed with my set up though. Once you open your pyramid how much time do you have to feed it before it spoils?
The quicker the better but I try my best to reseal it well after pulling from it. 2-3 weeks max. Next time I will try n keep the stacks smaller so less is wasted.

The compression rod rack is a must in thick long hay. But I usually have better luck in thin short hay by removing it.

Can separate the mower just by pulling the two big bolts behind the drive belt on a617 b new Holland hay cutter. So that I can replace bottom press pin and keyway did it before but holding cutter up in the air was. Hassle and twisting things around to line up keyway and pin was hell

Best thing we ever did was trade our 566 off for a used 586. Got tired of choking up. Probably baled close to 1,000 bales with the 586 and never had to get out of the cab. For those that might not know when 576 came they out they changed the pick up header. And my understanding of the only difference in 567 and the 568 is the size of the chains Anyway enjoyed your video

Loctite on the bot threads to keep it from loosening and breaking again. Loctite also keeps out moisture which can cause rust and it is a lube to help with tightening. Glad your local machinist was able to help you get better bolts than factory. Thanks for the video.
