    I am going to randomly comment on your comments. The seat is very comfortable, I have done the Iron Butt challenge (1000 miles in 24 hours) and the seat did a beautiful job. You said “just buy a bagger if you want storage” (paraphrasing), no I feel this is the most versatile motorcycle out there and I want to tour along with messing around with the sport bike crowd. So the panniers suit me. If you are just going to the nearest pub like most of you short distance riders then yea no panniers needed. But overall a great video, thanks. Ps, my biggest complaint has been the too tall kickstand.

    • @watchapexmedia
      @watchapexmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find that after about 2 hours in the saddle (at least on the R as it’s different) I need a break. Strange, as I have extra built in cushioning! 😂
      I did say the stock panniers look great and it’s the range that lets you down, but it’s the massive 3rd party ones and the giant bolt on screens that I don’t get. Thanks for watching, let us know if you post any Iron Butt footage!

    I have owned the Rocket 3 GT since 2020 having done over 12000 KMS, I've owned 5 Harleys including a 2006 VRod plus a Yamaha Roadstar 1600 out of all these bikes the Triumph Rocket 3 GT is superior to all of the other bikes I have ever owned over the years this is the best bike I have ever owned in every aspect of this Rocket GT does everything right handling braking etc, I still get the greatest adrenaline rush when I'm on the freeway cruise control at 110 kph and I pull out to pass a slower car one quick twist on the twist grip and boom 180-200 kph within seconds what a BUZZ LOL ! The only thing that gives me the shits is every time I put petrol in it is that part of the tank that spits the fuel back at you and puts petrol on your paintwork!

      I totally forgot to mention how annoying filling it can be, thanks for bringing it up! I got a decent splash the first time I did it, and since then (and after seeing that guy in the US have his catch fire and burn to the ground) I’ve been super paranoid and only ever let it trickle in at half trigger or less. I’ve found bringing the nozzle in backwards (pointing toward the back of the bike) seems to work best. But SUPER annoying! Did you see my video loading the Penner tune? Have you done that yet? Certainly amps up the adrenaline… Thanks for watching. 👍🏻

The only problem at the moment is that it's winter here in Australia and it has been one of the wettest years in 60 years and one thing I hate is riding in wet cold weather especially on this baby, I cannot get enough of that adrenaline rush which you understand having ridden your Rocket GT 8000 km in only a month!

      @watchapexmedia  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah mate, Land Down Under for the win. I live in one of the colder places here, but still the concept of wintering vehicles is foreign to us. No salted roads, no banks of snow, just turn on the heated grips and go! You actually have to travel up into the mountains for the short snow season we have. But I guess there is that awesome anticipation you get every year, just like getting on the bike for the first time all over again! Ride on... 😏

    On the open road, the best I've managed was about 205 miles on a full tank of gas. But that was non-stop go, no stopping, cruising roughly the speed limit and averaging ~51-52 MPG as per the indicator.

      I haven't tried one, no. Not a fan of some of the styling, plus they have been getting a lot of bad feedback in the forums over the last couple of years about fit problems and QC issues. I'm ok with the stock seat for the type of rides I do these days. Thanks for watching!

    • @watchapexmedia
      @watchapexmedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dlmp70 I’ve only done probably two hour stints in the saddle between stops, and that was enough to start wishing for a bit more comfort. But I’m not a small guy, so weight plays into that. I don’t get back pain, it’s just a “pain in the butt” so to speak. The range of the tank means you aren’t getting more than 3 hours of highway time before stopping to fill it anyway. The pillion seat on the R is fairly small, and while I haven’t had anyone on it yet, by all accounts it’s not great unless the passenger is tiny. The GT has a bigger pillion, but would still not be ideal for long periods.

    Hi there mate, I noticed you have the pillion rider backrest on yr R. Did you install that? I know that the GT has that as standard. I'm planning to get a new GT next yr so I decided to see one in the flesh and actually got onto one! Sex on wheels I say!!! When I test ride the R model, I thought the weight/size was a shock as I thought it felt a bit small…..but in saying that, I have an 05 Rocket and also had an 07 Rocket Touring at the time, both of which are much bigger and heavier than the new ones, which is also why I didn’t buy a new one, as I love the feel of the older ones…

    5:00 Nice setting/building/ruin.
    I don't think the amount of tech is a positive point. That's where problems can arise. Nothing wrong with wanting luggage options. Some people want to tour. The panniers they supply aren't too bad, apart from the zips. 18 litres of fuel: okay if you're in the First World.

      To each their own mate, like I said. But I don’t think anyone’s really “touring” it when it’s loaded up and can only take 18 litres in the tank, you’d have to stop sooo many times! Triumph should’ve put a larger tank on the GT. Are you doing it? How many k’s/miles are you getting fully loaded with the missus on the back? 🤔

    Do the tank pads match in red coloring with the bike?

    • @watchapexmedia
      @watchapexmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have both a set from Trik in the UK and a set from Lamonster in the US. I used the Trik ones as they are bigger and don't reverse the Union Jack on the left side. It's not a perfect match, as the red is a lighter shade and the pattern is made to look "weathered" so the colours vary across the pad. I still think it looks great though. They were also cheaper. The Lamonster ones are probably a closer red but still weathered and like I said, smaller and the left one is reversed.

    Gt owner, the thing I dislike most is the keyless fob. It discharges over a short period of time. I swap the battery every 3 months or so because it goes flat. I always turn the fob off when the bike is not running. If they persist in the keyless ideal why could in not be rechargeable? The other main gripe is the cheap look of fuel tank cover.

    • @watchapexmedia
      @watchapexmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’ll admit I have not had issues with the fob myself. After getting the key warning on my very first decent ride (see first video on the channel) I moved it to my right jacket pocket and it’s been good ever since. My theory was the front sensor and the rear left sensor might get confused if the both saw the key so I put my body on the way of the rear one. Seems to have worked. Also, if you keep burning through batteries, yours might be faulty. I’m on the same battery going on 15 months now? 🤔 Thanks for watching.

  • @SeldarionRides
    @SeldarionRides 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree with your list for the most part with some additions. Although it's the nicest bike I've ever owned in over 37 years of riding, it's not without issues:
    Bluetooth module- if you just want to listen to music and use the bikes controls to change songs and volume, it all works but the bike forces you to connect your bluetooth earbuds to the bike's system and it's volume cap is too low. They need to add a toggle to the phone app that lets your "phone to earbuds" connection stay active without the bikes BT taking over the first pause in the music. Either that or raise the volume for us half deaf folks who went to too many metal concerts.
    Wireless keyfob- I honestly don't see the point in this. It adds needless and expensive tech to solve an issue that didn't need solving. It's a point of failure if you key sensor doesn't work properly or your key fob battery fails. I know there's a sensor under the left side seat you can use if the battery fails (I've had to use it.)
    Ball heater- I wish there was a way to stop the frame from heating up right under the seat. I know the frame is attached to the engine but surely there would be a way to isolate that section. I guess that's always been an issue with Rockets though.
    That's all I have. The bike is otherwise fantastic and I love it.

    • @watchapexmedia
      @watchapexmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ll agree the Bluetooth module is finicky, I talk about it in my ride tech video. Not perfect, but useable. I have a Sena 10U for Shoei (I don’t use earbuds) and my volume seems ok. I also set it up with no direct connection from my phone to the headset, they rely on the bike to connect. Also, my dealer just flashed my BT module with an update, and call quality has improved. A lot. You might want to get that done.
      My key fob has been great since I moved it to always be in my right jacket pocket and it’s on the original battery 15 months later.
      You know, I’ve never noticed heat under the seat, only the pipes. That’s odd, especially as you’re literally the first person I’ve heard mention it? How long do you stay in the saddle for typically? And what sort of climate! It may be because I don’t ride much in the height of summer here, too hot in all the gear…🤔

On the highway I'm able to get 38mpg. The seat is ok, but it's not that comfy for me. After about 100 miles I'm pretty sore. But otherwise it has been stellar. I get ALOT of people asking me about it. It pulls really hard when you want it to. No matter what speed, the fuel injection is very smooth. No power surges or anything. It does throw off some heat, but you don't notice it while going faster than say 25mph. I can't really say anything negative about it.
