    I rode the original Rocket Roadster back in 2010 for a couple of hours. I was amazed how light it felt on the go. It was even easy to pull off the side stand. And that bike was 40 kg heavier than the new R. I wanted to buy the Roaster 12 years ago, but I didn't. I want to buy the R now, and I may well.

    I'd like the GT model. It so nice to have a bike that you don't "have" to show how fast it is...because that's a given.
    Now, if that lottery would just cooperate...
    Great review as always brother.

    I think you can adjust the level of the TFT display, and it was set at its lowest, hence the odd position.

    Having a test ride tomorrow on a GT, Coming off a Harley Fat Bob 114, will be interesting to see difference. Expecting tthe Triumph to be a lot more refined but looks drop dead gorgeous and better put together than the Harley.
    Great Review

    • @RarefiedRoad
      @RarefiedRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Derek, I've not tried the Fat Bob but I'm guessing you're right, this should feel a little tighter then the Harley. Hope you enjoy.

    I had a go on the GT cruiser pegged version of the Rocket. It was really easy to ride (I only passed my "A" DAS test last year).
    I was a bit wobbly on very low speed corners (mini roundabouts mainly). I guess I needed a bit longer than 1 hour on the bike.
    It is a gorgeous and lovely bike. Don't think I'd want it as my only bike, for that I do prefer something a bit lighter like my Speed Twin.
    As a second bike, I would love one but I don't have the £20K to get one. Oh hum !

    What a fantastic review...... subscribed. I have the Roadster and love it.... it's a keeper.
    I had the old rocket and the new rocket is a different beast - every owner should upgrade or at the very least, test ride.
    To other riders, try it......it's a hoot and well worth your time!

    Great review! I like how you didn’t ride like a dick, as many reviewers do (throttle as an on/off switch because it’s got big torque) it made it much more informative and helpful as a review.

    I test rode one and certainly liked it. It has a lot going for the bike as you've mentioned, its a lot less expensive here in Australia too, $30k ...but in a one bike garage i don't think its ideal. The riding position wasn't comfortable for me personally, my shoulders were still painful days later. I've my eye firmly set on the Tiger 900

    • @RarefiedRoad
      @RarefiedRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tiger is a really good choice. I took that out the week before and loved it.

    Damnit, now I want to upgrade my Storm to a Rocket... curse you, reviewers!!
    Seriously though, this is on my radar as "next bike" altho' I think I'll wait until 2021 or 2022 models are out. It doesn't seem like there's that many things to iron out though. That's surprising, as usually a big redesign like this exposes all manner of "oops we didn't mean to do that" bits.

    • @RarefiedRoad
      @RarefiedRoad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would put Vmax into the same market. Currently on a Raider and have been looking at the Rocket 3 and Vmax. Not many bikes that I find as an upgrade to the Raider where I also like the look of the bike.

    I have ridden a GT in 107f and didnt notice it generating any more heat than any other bike of this size. So if you are thinking of maybe getting one dont let that scare you. In fact it generates less heat than my buddy’s Indian.

    It still has a shorter trail than the roadglide and tons more power what is the width of the bars around one meter? Very nice review what can you do about the engine heat? Let's both win the lottery game on

    I'm surprised that it is such a good commuter, looking at the width of the tires you would expect it to be a bitch to hustle around. Not my kind of bike but certainly a good looker. Thanks for the video, catch you again soon.

    You will see an abundance of people on Ducati's, Suzuki's and BMW's; yet this bike(bone stock) vs the 'bone stock of those other bikes, will hold NO competition when it comes to torque and 'off the line' speed !! Matter of fact, now that I think about it, you will see more people on Ducati's than you will on the Rocket 3R's !!!!

    “What’s not to like”: the weight, the price, the running costs (including speeding fines, petrol, tyres, insurance and asbestos underpants), and the total impracticability for the real world. This is aTriumph (sic) of excess over sense. Just because you can, it doesn’t mean you have to.

    • @midroc250

    • @djb7302
      @djb7302 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you can afford one in the first place, running costs aren’t likely to be your deciding factor. The main reason I bought it was because of excess over sense...just because I can.

      B D it is the funnest bike I have ever ridden by far. It is also very practical, no problems in city riding, long distance riding, and a sport bike killer in the twisties. This is real world pleasure and I have over 10,000 miles on my GT.

  • @robbikebob
    @robbikebob 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    They are great but I'd need a lot of money to buy one. If I'd skint myself to buy one I'm not sure I'd dare ride it or leave it anywhere! That moment when you dropped it on a gravely junction or got back to it in a car park where someone had reversed into it! Makes me sick to think about it. Also, imagine trying to pick the thing up if you dropped it! You'd need a crane or a passing rugby team! It's really nice. But toooo big, toooo expensive, toooo precious and, arguably, too irrelevant.....
