  • Sometimes things happen.
In this swarm transfer I had to do a little extra work. It was almost like a cut-out. Well maybe a cut-loose.

"What do I do? What do I do?" I was rolling laughing at you struggling to get those frames situated for you to remove the comb. Oh yea, the life of a beekeeper. Nice swarm and rearing to get started. God's peace brother.

After I got all of them out at the same time I was like Wile E Coyote catching the Road Runner, "what am I going to do with them now?" LOL!

You where very gentle with the bee's, i like that not every beekeeper does that. 😊

A nice recovery from what first looked like a real mess to have to deal with.
So they built that much comb over how many days you estimate?
And the X shaped diagonal corner placement of rubber bands I have never seen much less considered. Much better support for the loose comb.
    Nice size swarm too.
I’m much better prepared now for my next swarm catch
Got 4 swarms in March and not even witnessed a scout so far in April
I’m in Baldwin County, AL outside of Bay Minette

I've recently seen it on a couple of other videos and once you have seen it, it is so obviously the best method.

Thank you. They were in the swarm box for about 15 days. I normally like to get them out between 4 to 7 days. That just has not happened lately. Our nectar flow stopped here after that last freeze, but now it picking back up. That may have had something to do with the swarming slowing down.

Joey, I've gone to using bamboo skewers for support in swarm trap frames. Fishing line does not hold up. Wire is a pain. Fingers crossed. Great instruction.

Don’t you just love when your work something loose to figure it out and then you don’t have the hands or equipment to do anything?😁😁 I was feeling it when you did that. I’m watching you place those frames and thinking, you forgot that comb on the lid😬😬

You can save a lot of bending over by putting a bunch of those rubber bands around your left wrist.

Hey Don. I’ve been doing lots of cutouts. I have one left that took me 4 hours to find the void they occupied in the roof. They sprayed 10 inches of foam insulation everywhere. Next Friday I will attempt to get them out.

We have lows in the 30's and 40's and highs in the 50's and 60's, and rain. Our second 3" in a week or so. No shade in the woods yet as the leaves have yet to come out. Good tip on using foundation less comb in a swarm traps. I have a couple set out that I have to carry a little ways. Thanks for posting, always a pleasure, take care.
