Hey buddy! That solar wax melter from HillCo is the real deal. Totally impressed at the finished product the melter delivered. With my process, it takes at least two times rendering the wax to get the block looking like yours did on the first one. I was standing right next to you, when you bought the melter, and I can tell you, the product sells itself. HillCo is doing great things for beekeepers. Great video, thanks for putting it out there.God’s peace brother.
Great video, Joey! Melissa and I really like the Hillco solar wax melter. We keep 3 going all the time. It is a very efficient way to melt and render wax.
I have one of those wax melters I bought last year and it works very well. Those pans will hold a lot of wax and you can use a hair dryer to help remove the wax instead of putting water in it.
Great video, Joey! If your wax brick is ever stuck in your pan, you can throw it in the freezer for fifteen minutes. It shrinks a little and will pop right out with a little twist.
👋Morning Meagain Joey, good to see ya.😁 You look and sound a lot like this guy Joey I know, he started doing this Tuesday "No Life Beekeeper" Live, Bob and Lee needed a break for a while. Looks like a nice product, been thinking I need to DIY me one. Blessed Days buddy.
WOW! That thing melted that wax fast! I like your pre-melt device. You can put paper towels in that, too. Paper towels do soak up a good bit of wax. I tried using those folded napkins you get from fast food restaurants. Unfolded they are very thin a do let more wax thru. The downside is they stick to your strainer and tear apart instead of coming out in one piece. My solution for recovering the wax from paper towels is to collect a bunch and put them in hot water. I push them down with my homemade strainer that matches the pot diameter and let the water cool. It always surprises how much wax I get. Usually about 1/4 inch.
I had a good day with steady sun. I think that makes a big difference. A lot of good advice. I just saw your video on wax melting. Not sure why I didn't get a notification. Come on TH-cam!
Wonderful review, may be purchasing one myself. Looking at all you have in your honey house, was wondering the dimensions? In the finishing of my own new processing house just wanted to compare. Mine is 20x16. Bob
Thank you. My honey house is a portable building. The outside detentions are 20x16, including the roof overhang so you actually lose some of that on the inside.
@@josephrawls Thanks. just wanted to compare so I could gauge what I can get inside it. Mine is permanent on pilings and beams and exterior walls are 20x16 with 2x4 walls. Keep up the wonderful videos.
Thank you. Its hard if cooled down to normal temperature but if you let it heat up a little to soften it up it will come right out what the hive tool or scraper.

I had good steady sun on this melt. I think that is what made it do so well. If it gets cloudy it causes the wax to make weird patterns.
I love hillco’s solar melter Tom and I run three of them at a time in the summer to keep up with all of the comb from cut outs.
I love mine too! I’m glad they changed the handles the old ones were very sharp! They are always improving! Thanks for sharing.
John is always trying to figure out was to improve his products.
Works great, Joey!
Yes it does.
Great video Joey!!!
Thank you.
Wow, that came out really nice. Super!
I had a real good day of sun when this block was made. I was really surprised how well it turned out.
Joey wouldn't be the first time to be in trouble😂😂😂 Use a hair dryer to remove from pan .Great job.
Ain't that the truth. I may have to give the hair dryer a try.

Thanks, I am liking this one too. After watching y'alls video I am having a few more ideas. LOL
Great video Joey. That wax came out amazingly clean for the 1st run.
It did. I was surprised. Thanks.
I"M glad you happy with it, works great, i love mine works really fast.
It was working great. Now it's raining. Not going to complain about that though. Thanks for the info on the melter.

Thanks I will have to give that a try.
Joey there’s no doubt that Hillco has a solid wax melter. I’ve had mine a couple of years now and I like it
That is true. They are doing a fine job on their products.
Great video, Joey! If your wax brick is ever stuck in your pan, you can throw it in the freezer for fifteen minutes. It shrinks a little and will pop right out with a little twist.
Thank you. The freezer is a good idea. I just happened to have on right there handy.
Nice block of wax on the first run.
I’m glad that I was able to meet and visit with you at the LBA.
Thanks for the video.
Thank you. It was nice to visit with you too. Thanks for watching.

LOL My homemade one work great for a long time. It was getting worn and I kind of outgrown it as well.
I was not expecting it to work that well.
I was also surprised at how well it worked. Full steady sun has a lot to do with it.
Great looking finished product!
It does real well with I get full sun for the day. Thanks.
Solar tip. With the tall pines here we rarely get good direct sun. Not a problem. Put a brood lamp on the glass lid. Thanks for the review!
It's not glass. I do have a video coming up with a possible solution for cloudy and rainy days.
@@josephrawls Definitely want to see that.

No thumbs up button! Where is it TH-cam? Certainly a nice wax melter. Thanks for sharing, great review and instructional video, Thanks Joey
They hid them from you? lol Thank you.
Thanks for the shoutout Joey! It’s nice to throw the stuff in there and walk away.
Thanks for the help.
