- LOST IN SPACE (1965-1968) Cast THEN and NOW🌟Who Else Survives After 58 Years?
"Lost in Space" is a science fiction adventure film released in 1965, directed by Stephen Hopkins. The movie takes inspiration from the popular American television series of the same name, which aired from 1965 to 1968. Set in the futuristic year of 1997, "Lost in Space" follows the Robinson family as they embark on a mission to colonize a distant planet known as Alpha Prime. However, their spacecraft, the Jupiter 2, veers off course due to the sabotage efforts of the treacherous Dr. Zachary Smith.
As a 10 year old in 65 I loved the show and looked forward to it coming on every episode.
We lived in a fantastic era.
Maybe the last really good era. 😞
loved the show
I liked John Robinson the best. He had a strong presence and was a good father-figure type to look up to. Great show!
Amen, I grew up without a dad and always gain some good insights from the wisdom he gave his son and other family members.
I remember Guy Williams first as Zorro. He was great!
Except that the Robinson's were the worst parents ever, always allowing their youngest children to wander around on dangerous hostile planets without proper supervision. But then again, wouldn't have had much of a show otherwise.
Professor Robinson was the Father I wish I had
Yeah, today he no doubt would be considered a toxic masculine male. 🙁
This was my favorite series as a child! I loved everyone on the show & watched the reruns for years! I still do!! The show came on Wednesdays at the same time Star Trek played…..i was team Lost in Space!! Dr Smith was the best villain! My favorite character was Will Robinson!!!
I’m a mere 70yrs, I was 12 in 1965,I loved all the show’s back in that time,I remember we had a tv that looked like something out of a junk-yard,it was a Motorola we only had 3 channels,(black& white)of course,I wish I could go back in that time in my life time,3-stooges,monsters,all them,it’s sad to know that all our favorite shows have disappeared &our favorite stars, I feel so good knowing that I grew up back then❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸
Same here- favourite show!
Me encanta el Robot.
Me too!!!
"My dear, I thought I was your favorite character, OHH the pain, the pain!"..
Jonathan Harris was an exceptional actor that really made the series. Never fear Smith is here.
"You bubble headed booby!"...LOL!
the pain the pain@@bobmalack481
Too sad for such a fate at the end of this life
Oh the pain, the pain. Loved Jonathan Harris.
@@navyspook79 I absolutely love the man he was brilliant on the show, he was never a superstar but I would have given anything to have met him before he left. I have all three seasons of lost in space and still watch him. I heard once that they picked Guy Williams and June Lockhart so the show would be a success, but the last two seasons were written entirely for Jonathan Harris,Bill Mumy and the robot once they figured it was the three of them the people actually wanted to see. Just writing this I got a big smile thinking of some of his priceless expressions.
The robot was my favorite character. I was born in 1965 and watched the show growing up. My father was the advertising manager at the Boston channel that aired "Lost in Space" during that time and I had the privilege to view the robot "costume" at the station after an event ; The "head " unit was removed and someone actually lowered my tiny body (I was about six years old) into the inside of it so that I could get a look around. It was disappointing; because I suddenly understood that it was just an empty shell. But at the same time I understood all of the magic tricks I had ever seen on TV were just "slight of lens" ,cleverly conducted to fool us all. I will never forget that as long as I live.
Congratulations, for understanding and seeing the truth!
That must have been an exciting treat at the age of 6.
The right group of actors made the Television show shine. LOST IN SPACE.
Guy William's also played Zorro another were r of my favorite shows
You forgot my favourite the robot and the man inside him, Bob May (September 4, 1939 - January 18, 2009) and the voice of the robot, Richard Tufeld (December 11, 1926 - January 22, 2012), they shouldn't be forgotten just because you didn't see them, the robot was an Integral part of the show.
Didn't know that there were 2 but yes the robut was always rt
Dr. Smith, by far, was my favorite. You could always count on him to stir up trouble…!
As a 10 year old boy in 1965, I had a crush on Penny. I'm glad to hear she's alive and well!
In 1966 Angela sent me an autographed photo with perfume on it I sniffed that picture for eeeks
I knew I wasn't alone! I was also 10 years old.
I was 10 in 65 too. And I had a crush on Penny.
How cool 😎. Glad we're both still here too.
God bless. 🙏
Ditto here with the crush on Penny.
I was quite young when the show came out, but saw them a few years later in syndication (and crushed on Penny and Judy); I am rewatching the shows on Amazon Prime Video, but now am crushing on June Lockhart. 😜
I'm 65. I watched this show from the beginning and loved it. Thanks for this.
Great to see most of the original cast are still alive and well!
Guy Williams died some years ago
@@boboren8246 I remember when I was a kid, I used to think Guy Williams was the same guy that played Steve McGarrett!
@@prophetmargin7497 He was Zorro before Lost In Space
@@rbrachmann Wow, that's amazing, I had no idea!
@@boboren8246 Did he????They should have mentioned that in the video!
My favorite was Dr. Smith.. Unforgettable. Angela Cartwright has become a classic celebrity due to these two great success she was part of, which were "Lost in Space", and "The Sound of Music" beside great names of industry. And Michael Rennie as Klaatu - The Day the Earth Stood Still. He is an icon, no doubt.
❤🎉Loved Dr. Smith too.
“Living your life to the fullest” when you’re in your 80’s and 90’s is simply getting up in the morning.
Don't be a smartass.
Great memories of an iconic show. Jonathan Harris said in one of the documentaries made about the show, that originally his character was a dark, sinister stow away spy. He made the suggestion that the character should be the one we loved, and this really was one of the big factors in the show's success. His interactions with the Robot were priceless.
A character we loved? Hated him! Show would have been much better without him.
I read the other cast members said he basically took over and made himself the lead character. Quite a lot of resentment. Show would have been so much better and lasted longer without him.
Not everyone has to have the same opinion. Some fans like certain characters more than others in any production. @@terryboyer1342
I agree 100% became the Dr.smith how he was so campy ruined a great show
@@terryboyer1342Dr Smith foi o mais amável vilão de todos os tempos. Sem ele lost in space não teria chegado nem a segunda temporada
@@gersonnunes30 Wrong. But your view does show what kind of person you're drawn to and admire. Think about it.
I watched Lost in Space as a rugrat when it was in first run, and continued to watch it in reruns all through childhood. My favorite show as a kid. I loved Robot and Dr. Smith, and teared up when I heard Jonathan Harris died. It was like losing an uncle.
You forgot Dick Tufeld, the voice of the robot B9. He was just as important as any of the human characters.
Danger Will Robinson😊
And Bob May, inside B9.
@@lloydster7362 Yes! My omission. Thanks for catching that.
none of the female fans forgot Dick......they all couldnt get enough of Dick on the show.
LOST IN SPACE was my favorite show. In the summer 1968, at the invitation of Bill Mumy, I visited the set. As I recall, it was the episode where they return to 1930s Earth. Billy was there and visited with me until a crew member called out "Little Billy get in your silver suit" and he was off. Later he was goofing around between takes. Dr. Smith (Johnathan Harris) was there and gave me a friendly Dr. Smith "Hello". Lastly Major West was there, cooling off under a trailer. Sadly, I had forgotten my camera, so I just have memories - but what memories!
🌎 AT 71 CAN'T LOVE THIS SERIES MORE. !!!
Jonathan Harris was so talented. He had many serious roles in movies, yet he pulled off the crazy Dr. Smith to perfection. In the very first episode he plays a serious character and is working as a double agent, before becoming trapped on the J2. Same for Billy Mummy. He did a ton of work as a child actor and played his roles so well.
Yes. Besides Will Robinson, Bill Mummy is probably best remembered for the role of the magic kid he played in The Twilight Zone.
Too sad for such a fate at the end of this life
He also did an episode of “Sanford and Son” as a crazy antique collector
Back then as a teenager, I had a crush on Angela Cartwright who played Penny.
Michael Rennie was the main character Klaatu in the renowned movie( The day the earth stood still ) of which it should have received an honorary mention.
Yep, I recognized him as the lead character Klaatu in that classic movie!
agree. That was one of the best movies and he and Gort are icons. I like him working out Prof Barnard's math
The Day the Earth Stood Still was, and still is, one of my favorite movies. Michael Rennie was a great actor!!
"Klaatu barada nikto"
You got that right. Outstanding Actor all his performances were memorable. 🤩
Dr.Smith without a doubt! I loved his interactions with the Robot.👏🏾
I met June at a Trek convention in the Las Vegas in the 90's. She was an absolute delight and an ardent futurist. I remember not being able to get over how tiny she is. Go June. She was probably my favorite and then Guy Williams because he was just so darn good looking :)
Too sad for such a fate at the end of this life
Major Donald West was one of my 3 heroes when I was growing up. I was fortunate to meet Mark Goddard at several conventions and later on at a school for troubled teens where he was a Senior Administrator of some kind. My other two heroes if you're interested were Captain James Kirk, and Secret Service Agent James West. Long Life and Happiness to the cast and those behind the scenes as well.
When I was a kid in Rochester, NY in the 60s, my Aunt Lil had an uncanny resemblance to June Lockhart and all of us kids called her Aunt June. One Halloween, she made her spacesuit costume in silver/red lame with space lasers & the whole bit. Unbelievably realistic. Before we went to a church party, we stopped in the local grocery store (Loblaws) to pick up some candy and everyone in the store kept calling her "Ms. Lockhart". She passed away in 2022 at 90. RIP Aunt Lil. You were the BEST!
Awesome memory, thanks for sharing!
What a great story, great real memories.
I love June Lockhart and wow what staying power she has -still alive-such a great story about your aunt who really capitalized on her resemblance to create a forever memory for you about her and "Lost in Space"!!!!!!!!
Thank you for that heartfelt share!!!
Too sad for such a fate at the end of this life
I LIKED Will Robinson. glad TO KNOW Billy Mumy IS FINE!
I LOVE DR.Smith.. I fell for that man when he was in a situation that he could talk himself out of... That was Zachery for ya.... Thanks for the video... :)
Yeah he was great. Every single planet they landed on he tried to get them all killed ha ha ha! Danger danger, Will Robinson!
RIP Mark Goddard 🙏🏼🌹
I guess I really liked Will Robinson for quite a number of reasons Kids many times steal the show and I even met him in person and got to share how I liked his way of acting in various roles.
I wanted to be Will Robinson!
Billy was the man for real! Not only on this show, but others he did earlier. He didn't seem like a kid, but a very mature young man.
@@alvaro9667poor Will was cuddled by Brigitte Bardot in a film when he played Jimmy Stewart's son. Tough luck 😅
My fave from Lost in Space was The Robot: "Danger Will Robinson! Danger!"
They have had Bill Mummy on KFI talkradio in Los Angeles as a guest interview many times! Fantastic guest! Angela Cartwright had a hardware store in the valley but I guess she is now in England! One of my favorite shows as a kid!
That's awesome! Loved their interviews!
Angela Cartwright played one of the Von Trapp children in the Sound of Music.
She was also on the Bette Davis movie "All thIs and Heaven too". Loved her.
Billy Mumy is alive and well, living at least part time at Lake Tahoe, on the California side. He's well known there. He's healthy and successful.
. . . and a suprbly talented guitarist in a successful band. He is a member of The Action Skulls, with Vicki Peterson (Bangles) and John Cowsill (Cowsills).
I came here to say exactly that. He turns 70 on February 1.
Exactly....why the juxtaposition of those two pictures....unless it's intentional and just crude, exploitative clickbait material. Anyone who was a real fan of the series would not countenance such a crass and vulgar tactic.
Bill Mumy isn't dead. He's still alive and is 69.
Bill is a talented songwriter & musician. He has composed, jammed & performed with members of the group, "America."
, Bill Mumy had a hit in the 70's with the song "Fishheads" as part of the group, Barnes and Barnes. You can find the song on numerous CDs with Dr. Demento.
@@mibeatleman6767 He's 69 years old.
@@thomasventiquattroii7249 Don't forget he wrote the Dr. Demento favorite, "Fish Heads"!
Yup. It says that in this vid. who said he's dead?
I liked them all. My favorite two were Will and the Robot!
Couldn’t wait for the next episode as a kid, it was amazing for its time 👍
John Robinson (i.e. Guy Williams) was my favorite character in the series.
Dr Zachary Smith,was my favourite.
My faaaaavorite show as a kid!
Guy Williams was what made me want to see him and the music every time he was fighting with someone and something
Danger! Danger! Dr. Smith and the Robot were my favorite characters.
I used to come home from school and watch reruns of Lost In Space. This show will always have a special place in my heart. For some reason, it totally resonated with me as a child that still resonates to today. My crushes were on Angela Cartwright and Mark Goddard.
So you're bi sexual?
What?
What a blast from the past! Loved the show. It didn’t preach or try to socially engineer - it was just great entertainment.Never tire of “Lost In Space”.
Marta & June - LOVE them!
I loved your video! It brought back memories of beloved actors. Looking forward to more fantastic content every day!
What about Bob May? I found out that he was the one who was in the Robot.
Loved this show as a kid. I'm in my 60s now and have got the DVD box set of the show, which I still get out once in a while and take a trip down memory lane.
Love lost in space
Thumbs up from Geelong Australia 🦘🇭🇲👍👍
What is eerie to me is how much Bill Mumy resembled my late youngest brother at the time the series first played. "Danger! Danger! Will Robinson" was often announced by his siblings. Good memories, takes me back. Thank You.
Hehehe I guess saying danger danger Will Robinson was a whole lot more interesting than dangly spit at the end of your tongue to harass your younger brother is exactly what I used to do many years ago
As a kid i watched the show in reruns in the late 70's early 80's the Robot was my favorite . When Robot said Danger Will Robinson something was going to happen .
Such a wonderful show. All the cast were great in different ways. Some more boldly written or acted, but each an important element of a satisfying whole.
Will was an identifiable noble likeable young hero. Judy was a gorgeous crush for a young lad like myself. Doctor Smith was a larger than life very flawed human. But the Robot surprisingly I liked the best of all. Loyal to a fault, amusing and frequently saving the day. The voice actor and robot movement actor deserve high praise indeed.
❤❤❤
I grew up with Lost in Space. Parents had no idea why we liked the show. Guy Williams made a better Zorro. There he was allowed to shine!
Ya, but Dr. Smith put the show 'over' hands down and made the show better and worth watching, if nothing else, for the comedy element
Robert at 68.
I loved this show when I was a child. One of my favorite characters was the Robot, where is he now
I'm now 77; as a newly married couple of less than 6 months, my wife of 57 years & I watched the series every Wednesday at 6:30 on a small 17 in portable B&W set during the evening meal. Our first apartment was a small 1 bedroom with a very tiny kitchen which we paid $45 a month rent. ($5 less than the weekly minimum wage) Her favorite episode was "The Keeper" starring Michael Ranee. Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end.
great memories
My favorite chartacter was 'Angela Cartwright' on the episode 'Mister Nobody' ?. It was a touching, as well as the episode 'Magic Mirror' .
Agreed, this was 2 special episodes that got to me first time as a kid. A great tribute to a lovely Woman as Angela Cartwright.
Lost In Space is as classic as Gone With The wind. Our children's, children's, children's, children will be watching this Lost In Space series. It is a masterpiece from a better human era.
I was fourteen years old when I watched the series. Wow feels like yesterday 😢.

My.brothers sister and I used to watch the reruns of Lost in Space every morning before school. My Mom would say (Are you watching that show again.?) And we sure would be and loved every moment.
Do not fear Smith is here.. DR Zachary Smith RIP
My favorite show as a child, great memories.
This was actually better than most of those diving and dead tv show youtubes. This guy even shows old and new footage even if his dialogue is a little redundant.
I used to love Lost in Space. Very ahead of it’s time and great characters. Grew up with it in the 60’s . Dr Smith was my favourite
Penny was my favourite character. I remember we used to play 'Lost in Space' in the playground at school - I must have been about 5 or 6 - and I always wanted to play Penny 😄
Loved em all.
IMO: Jonathan Harris, as "Dr. Smith," was far and away the best character in the show! Along with Billy Mumy, as "Will Robinson," he made the show interesting and unforgettable with his outstanding acting, wit, and shenanigans! God rest his soul... 🙏
"You bubble headed booby!"...LOL!!
Dr. Smith ruined the show. He acted gay and was over the top in his acting and took the show over with an over powering presence.

@@rascal211 Harris MADE the show. His over the top humor made an ordinary Sci Fi T.V. show watchable and entertaining for a wide audience demographic, especially kids and boys. You are in a very narrow opinion sample 'You bubble headed booby'! Robert at 68.

Loved Judy Robinson
Must say she is STILL VERY BEAUTIFUL
My favorite was Dr Zachary Smith. Saw this series lot of times wen i was a child in Brasil. Unforgetable 👍
Wow ! You could've gone on for over an hour with so many famous actors that were on the show , I still watch it on Saturday night at midnight central time on MeTv , it always brings back memories of when I was 5 years old , I even remember collecting lost in space trading cards , it's a little corny by nowadays standards , and maybe even back then too , but I still love the show . Thanks so very much for the video.
I found it interesting that during all three seasons, Johnathan Harris was ALWAYS billed as "Special Guest Star", even though he was seen in EVERY episode.
That was a 'leveraged' move on Jonathen Harris's part to get special billing for the show through his contract agreement with studio heads for the Zachery Smith role. It worked out and the rest is history. Robert at 68 in Arizona.
@@bobmalack481 Thanks.
I loved that show
Favorite character by far...Angela Cartwright!!!
As he did with me back in 1977, Bill Mumy will make sure you pronounce his last name correctly MOO MEE, not mummy.
Robot needed to attack Dr Smith after all the verbal abuse 😂
lol
"Tin plated Terror!"
What a brilliant series it was I never missed a episode ❤️❤️❤️
My good childood days memories.❤
I watched the show in 68, and I have seen replays of other shows. I loved the chimpanzee, named Debbie. I forget what planet they pick her up. I love that they added some pointed ears to yes. She was adorable. I would love to see the show in the original film. Great childhood memories. ❤
Greatly revealing presentation of the original show! Every one of the Original STARS who participated drama-wise in the making of LOST IN SPACE as a well-Loved TV Show, deserve lasting immortality in annals of memorable TV Programs. My particular favorite was and is and will be WILL ROBINSON, played by BILL MUMY! It wasa great show.
Handsome pretty Handsome Doctor Smith!
You forgot one of the members... 'the Robot'....
Thanks for the memories!
I remember the very first episode in Sept of 65.
I was 9 years old.
What about Robbie the Robot? He was in Forbidden Planet I think.
I always admired the robot
"Danger Will Robinson". I loved the robot. It was as if Swiss Family Robinson, but in outer space. I loved it as a kid. Could relate to Penny Robinson.
when I watched this as a kid in the 60's I thought "..those people are so old..!"....now I find out they died younger than myself now!...time is shocking sometimes...
I'm convinced we are going to see people living to 120+ years commonly, especially after watching this video. I always liked Don West's character. He reminded me of one of my friends in school. O/c Robot is timeless. I guess logic never goes out of style...
I had a Lost In Space toy robot. My mom was vexed because it cost $6.98 at the Grand Union grocery store. Today "adults" are paying $500 or more for one. Wish I'd kept all my toys, baseball cards and Hotwheels!

I loved it as a kid...... I still thought it was stupid, even back then, but it was a blast and a half to watch!
Dr Smith was my favorite! He was so insufferable and his iconic "oh the pain, the pain of it all.." is a regular comment from my 8 year old son today. One of my favorite shows as a little boy and will forever hold a place in my heart.
This was my favorite series as a child! I loved everyone on the show
Before Lost in Space Guy Williams was Zorro and June Lockhart was the mother on Lassie. My favourite character was the Robot. Bob May (1939-2009) was inside and Dick Tufeld (1926-2012) was the voice.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video featuring the cast . They're all legends!
As a Kid in the 60's I watched this with fervour every episode and bought the set later in life. I would not trade ANY of the characters that were shown for anything.
I particularly loved the beauty of the 3 women, the wisdom and grating ness of the 2 leaders, and ESPECIALLY WILL DR SMITH AND THE ROBOT:s antics.
I am glad the remaining cast are still with us, and lead good lives. I LOVE THEM ALL !! Thanks for the great memories !!
What a great show there's no way you can ever forget Lost in Space there's no way you can ever forget the pain the pain thank you so much for the Memories.
I only watched it because of Penny, Dr, Smith, and Robot, and there was nothing else to watch in a world that has only three stations to choose from on any given day.
my favorite the robot
My favorite character was Dr. Smith.
Bob May was the man inside B-9, commonly called "Robot" and the voice over was performed by Richard Tufeld.
Vitina Marcus who played as Athena the Green alien really creeped me out as a kid. I'm glad so many of these alumni are alive and well.
Loved Lost in Space, I loved the whole cast, including the Robot… I would consider the robot to be as much a part of the cast as the others… I love the banter between the robot and Dr Smith…
