Norman Virgil Osborn is a fictional character from Sam Raimi's trilogy of Spider-Man films and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), adapted from the comic book character of the same name created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, also known by his alter-ego, the Green Goblin. He is portrayed by Willem Dafoe, who also voices the character in the video game adaptation of the first film.
Norman is introduced in the first Spider-Man (2002) film as the CEO of science company Oscorp, and the father of Harry Osborn. Norman has a strained relationship with his son and often neglects him in favor of Harry's best friend, Peter Parker because he views himself as the only father figure in the boy's life after his Uncle Ben is killed.
When Oscorp faces financial difficulties and Norman is pressured to secure a government contract to save it from bankruptcy, he tests an unstable performance-enhancement serum on himself, developing enhanced physical abilities and a split personality. This new persona, later dubbed the "Green Goblin" by the Daily Bugle (and who refers to himself as simply "The Goblin"), occasionally takes over Norman's body to exact revenge on their enemies, using advanced military equipment stolen from Oscorp. He later comes into conflict with Spider-Man, and eventually discovers that he is Peter, but accidentally kills himself while fighting him. Norman's Green Goblin persona appears posthumously in the sequels Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007), as a hallucination enticing Harry, who assumed Spider-Man killed his father, to take revenge on the hero. Dafoe reprised the role in the Marvel Studios film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), in which Norman is transported there right before his death along with four other villains due to a magic spell gone wrong, and ends up clashing with that universe's Spider-Man and his allies.
Dafoe's performance as the Green Goblin was universally acclaimed by critics and audiences, and the character is considered to be one of the most iconic villains in superhero films.
Captain Steven Grant "Steve" Rogers is a World War II veteran, a founding member of the Avengers, and Earth's first known superhero. Rogers grew up suffering from numerous health problems, and upon America's entry into World War II, he was rejected from serving in the United States Army despite several attempts to enlist. Rogers ultimately volunteered for Project Rebirth, where he was the only recipient of the Super Soldier Serum developed by Abraham Erskine under the Strategic Scientific Reserve. The serum greatly enhanced Rogers' physical abilities to superhuman levels. After Erskine's assassination and being doubted by SSR head director Chester Phillips, Rogers was relegated to performing in war bond campaigns, where he posed as a patriotic mascot under the moniker of Captain America.
Rogers, Black Widow, Falcon, and Scarlet Witch continued to be fugitives from the law, but when Thanos and his Black Order attacked Earth seeking the final Infinity Stones, Rogers emerged from hiding in order to protect Vision. Rogers had Vision brought to Wakanda, and came to the country's defense when it was attacked by the Order an onslaught of Outriders. Captain America failed to stop Thanos from taking the Mind Stone and initiating the Snap, wherein half the universe's population was wiped. Rogers survived, and journeyed through space to Planet 0259-S, where the Avengers killed Thanos.
Five years after the Snap, Rogers and his fellow Avengers eventually found a way to safely travel through time, returning to various points in the past to amass all six Infinity Stones, making amends with Tony Stark in the process. The stones were used to initiate the Blip, and he resumed the mantle of Captain America once more to participate in the Battle of Earth, where he discovered he was deemed worthy of Mjølnir, wielding it in combat against Thanos and his army from an alternate timeline. After Stark sacrificed his life to wipe out Thanos and his armies, Rogers volunteered to return the stones to their respective timelines. He opted to return and remain in the 1940s, where he married Peggy Carter. Rogers grew old and reunited with his friends in the present, entrusting Sam Wilson with his mantle and shield.

Cap was brutally overpowered by Bucky's metal arm, and Spider-Man managed to grab Bucky's punch almost as if it were nothing and then made jokes about it. And Green Goblin was smashing Spider-Man through walls. Not saying Cap doesn't have a chance, but he most likely would lose the vast majority of fights against Green Goblin, I agree. I'd say Cap has almost zero chance in a "fair" fight, he would need a very good plan.
I agree Goblin has the upper hand physically but you gotta remember, Cap is the star spangled man with a plan 😉🇺🇸
Didn’t mention this as it was Bucky punching Spider-Man and would likely not be using his arm’s full strength. Winter Soldier is the one who overpowered Cap. I agree Winter Soldier’s arm > Captain America, but Spider-Man casually stopping the arm is unquantifiable in my opinion

In a story, Cap wins. In an actual fight, Goblin wins
Cap has a egregious amount of plot armour against other heroes, but he’s gotten his ass kicked by the majority of villains. Yeah he gave Thanos a beating with Mjlonir but as soon as Thanos got serious, he wrecked Steve and his shield.
Goblin would get under Steve’s skin like everyone else and then kill him with some gadget just when Cap thinks he’s won.

Common man, it’s the Cap. From the 1940’s till 2008 Steve gained his power from Patriotism, easily defeating every opponent with Good ol’ fashioned American optimism. Then Obama changed everything with his world apology tour, convincing Americans they live in a chit country. With low moral and burning flags, it inevitably weakened the Cap to a mere has been relic of Americana. Steve held out as long as he could but we see it has an effect on him as he retires by going back in time to spend another life with his gal.

Fascinating! Captain America may find a way to stop Green Goblin, but it's not going to be easy. The Goblin fights Spider-Man and he's stronger than Captain America. However, this would be an interesting battle.
How do we know green goblin is stronger? I just can’t picture green goblin pulling a helicopter like captain America did in civil war. Captain America is also a master of multiple martial arts and tactics. Green goblin is a buisness man with a tantrum

@@JBD915 Fighting skill doesn’t matter if the other guy is so batshit insane not even Doctor Strange can stop his tricks. Steve had never had to fight anyone like Goblin before, even Red Skull was reasonable by comparison.
I think people massively underestimate just how strong Green Goblin is. For example, I don't see ANYONE talking about the fact that he CASUALLY holds a tram full of passengers with one arm while holding MJ in the other, all without the slightest bind of windedness. He also tore through a full web encasing in only a few seconds despite said webbing being strong enough to hold a helicopter in the air as well as completely stop a full-speed city train.
In terms of physical strength alone, Cap literally has no chance. From there, it comes down to overall fighting styles and the like. Green Goblin's arsenal is only somewhat less imposing when compared to Iron Man's during Civil War. When you square the fact that he can launch projectiles so fast that he can outpace Spiderman, and slip his pumpkin bombs past your defenses without you even knowing, it becomes really hard to imagine Cap winning from a gadgetry angle either.
Again, for full reference, Cap had to tag team a blood-lusted Iron Man with Bucky just to restrain him. In a one-on-one fight, there's no way Iron Man loses. And since Green Goblin is basically just a super amped version of Iron Man that's evil and willing to play dirty... you really start to see just how little of a shot Steve really has.
Just running the numbers, it's pretty much a 9/10 in favor for Norman, with 1/10 going to Cap purely based around him being the protagonist.
Cap is strong enough to curl a helicopter, and I doubt goblin punches harder than iron man or can take more damage and iron man got his ass beat
Also iron man only started winning once his ai system was able to predict caps movements he was getting his ass kicked before then
Gobby is stronger and has a bigger and more dangerous arsenal but Cap is a better and more experienced fighter

"MCU" is now a blanket term for the entire multiverse, because it's the name of the franchise. A misnomer sure, but no one's calling it MCM.

And you'll hear "the Raimi movies are MCU canon" very often, because, again, that's the name of the franchise and no one is changing it at this point, so you should get used to it. The events of the Ramiverse were referenced multiple times in FFH. In the same way that the Ultimate Universe canonically exists as an "alternate universe" in Earth 616, the Ramiverse now canonically exists as an alternate universe to the MCU due to this crossover. Ergo, the Ramiverse exists in MCU canon. Saying this *doesn't* imply that the events of these movies literally took place in the "MCU" itself, it merely acknowledges that the MCU is part of an interconnected multi-verse which we've known since Dr. Strange. Don't be an obtuse ass.
Interesting. At first, I thought this is a win for Cap with mid to high difficulty, especially as Cap is much more skilled and has his almost unbreakable shield. But the power scaling to Spider-Man convinced me otherwise. Considered that Goblin is also unpredictable, this skill advantage might not matter that much.
how tf did you ever think Cap could go toe to toe with Goblin? Spider-Man is stronger and got his ass kicked by him. Spider-Man held Buckys arm as it was coming towards him and Cap was STRUGGLING to keep the arm off of him during the street fight scene in Winter Soldier. Goblin held an entire tram, ferry, whatever its called, full of kids without any visible stress. This was pretty easy imo As soon as the shield is gone it's a wrap for Cap

@@Bundeskaiser Yeah but Caps feats dont matter when he's going toe to toe with people that are SO much stronger then him. Like maybe they'll be relevant in a Black Panther v Cap, or US Agent v Cap debate but not here. Goblins going to knock that shield away from him. Thats inevitable. Goblin is also going to overpower him and remain unphased in terms of breathing since he wouldn't even be going all out in his strength like Cap has to.
So we got a fatigued Cap versus a mildly amused Goblin. Goblin will have a tough time keeping up with Caps close hand-to-hand combat but eventually Steve will tire....and slow...and slip...then Goblin will respond with a POW. After that 1 good punch to the gut, face, wherever goblin chooses...Cap is pretty much a goner.

@@viefcheesecake meh. spidey kicked thanos back in forth (with the help of doctor strange) and restrained one of his arms with his webs (spiderlegs holding him in place). And still got washed by Green Goblin like a year later (a year later for him since he blipped).
The Green Goblin is like a super soldier X10 or even more.
The Goblin Formula is vastly superior compared to the Super Soldier Serum. In the Comic and MCU. With increased strength, speed, agility, flexibility, stamina and intelligence so that he can actually match Spider-Man.
In the comics(and possibly the movies) Green Goblin is not Spider-Man’s equal. Spider-Man is still a lot stronger, faster, smarter, agile etc.
Green Goblin is a 9-10 tonner at best, that’s light work for Spider-Man. Peter has strength feats that surpass even 100 and 200 tons.
In terms of Speed, Peter has dodged laser beams going at the speed of light. Goblin can only dream of being that fast.
Peter(in the comics) has even said that he finds himself holding back on Green Goblin because he knows it’s still Norman in there and that Norman is his bestfriend’s(Harry’s) father.

@@alienator4684 Raimi Goblin is easily a 40-60 ton lifter or more. The cable car he casually held in one hand is ~10 tons plus a torque multiplier from being 20 yards from him, which would be equivalent to 10 + 10*(L/2) tons, so that adds up to some pretty gigantic numbers very quickly. And to emphasize, he doesn't show even the slightest sign of strain while lifting it one handed.
@@kannon1610 He’s a 40 to 60 tonner or more? Yet even out of all you said, there’s nothing we’ve seen that proves that. So correction, he’s not a 40 to 60 tonner, you just want him to be. Even if what you’re saying was true, Both Tobey and Tom’s(potentially Andrew’s since we never saw his true limit in terms of strength) versions of Spider-Man still have better strength feats than that. Also where exactly did you get the number of 10 tons for how much the cable car weighed? I’m not denying it since they can weigh that much, but usually they weigh about 15,000 pounds which is 7.5 tons.
I have a theory that there was a Captain America variant in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man universe. And that Norman Osborn’s “performance enhancers”, the formula which turned him into the Green Goblin, were Oscorp’s attempt at recreating Dr Erskine’s super soldier serum from WW2. 🤔

I suspect the fight would be very similar to Steve's bout with Ultron if Ultron kept on fighting. Steve is too stubborn and skilled to go down quickly, he would keep up for a while, but eventually the power difference with Goblin would wear him down and he would lose. Steve is skilled, yes, but he isn't strong enough to do any huge damage to Goblin. Even if he could, Goblin would just laugh through it anyway

I actually wanted to bring something up. I think a possible reason Goblin was getting hurt alot more during him and Tom's next fight was because of the antidote. I feel it did actually weaken him. But as Norman said, it didn't work in its intended goal. Of course this is my thought and Tom could've gotten stronger after the first battle, still fun to think about tho!
It’s an interesting point and you could make the argument that goblin felt the need to add some upgrades to his suit (like the blade from his forearm) to compensate for any potential weakening from the antidote. However I don’t think it really did anything and the reasoning as to why Goblin lost in the second fight was simply due to Spider-Man’s bloodlusted state. His not holding back at all

The biggest reason is Tom didn't pull his punches second fight. IT IS WIDELY KNOWN Spiderman pulls his punches because he is so strong he may accidently kill someone. Spiderman always pulls his punches, but when he fougjt Goblin the second time, he was angry because his family died. Which in turn hurt goblin more
@@danielworkout9306 I dunno. I was under the impression Tom was going all out even before aunt May's death. Thus my whole antidote theory. I know he for sure wanted Norman dead afterwards, but from what he was portraying in the film he was really struggling. Course that's film/story for ya so it makes sense for the character to be portrayed to be straining themselves in a situation of major conflict.
@@germex1837 he definitely was trying harder than normal when he was grappling onto Norman and shoving both fists and elbows on his face while Norman took 0 damage from it. I don’t think it was all out but let’s say 70 or 80% Tom and goblin took 0 damage
Green Goblin slams in a straight fight man was laughing at punches from Mcu Spider-Man and survived a beating from Tobey Spider-Man who held up a chunk of building and stopped a Train, not only that but Green Goblin has a lot more weapons and versatility than Cap
@@wolfkniteX Yeah but you have to take into consideration that Goblin has the glider which gives him flight, Blades and automatic gunfire and he also has bombs/Grenades which can incinerate a normal human and destroy a facility

Cap was able to defeat iron man by aiming for his thrusters and even caught him mid flight. Even beat Tony. He even power powered war machine in civil war while fighting black Panther and destroyed one of his weapons in the process. Cap is a legit force to be reckon with in a close quarters battle.

I would say it is an actual stomp in favor of Green Goblin in the current MCU. Spiderman is much stronger/faster than Captain America, and he had trouble doing damage to GG in No Way Home. Given that, I don't think Cap has the oomph to ever win, and his tactics/skill advantage is irrelevant.
Spider-Man was pulling his punches as im sure cap does as well. If these guys arent pulling their punches someones life is in grave grave danger

i think an easy explanation, at least when it comes to strength level, is that cap/bucky/black panther/us agent are all share super soldier level strength, meaning they can easily break concrete walls, rip doors off cars, jump several stories etc... but spider man and green goblin are both a level above that, green goblin's strength matches that of peter's, meaning he can most likely lift a car, catch a bus, and as demonstrated in spider man 1 he easily held a cable car full of people with 1 arm.
so goblin is definetly a lot stronger than cap, although cap has more combat skills

@@asscass2 he takes a serum at some point in the show that he finds, its why he was able to save that van that was going off a cliff, and why he was a bit antsy in the final episode, we never actaully see him inject it, just picking it up, and the next time we see him punching holes through concrete pillars.

Gobby wins 8 or 9 out of 10. I loved the points you brought up but they all pointed to Osborn stomping cap. Unless cap could be fully aware of the situation while goblin comes in with no information, he doesn’t stand much of a chance.
Well he does stand a chance but Osborn would win more times out of ten for example, like 6-7/10.

The Green Goblin would steam roll Captain America in terms of physical capabilities but CapTain America is just the vastly better fighter and Captain America is also not mentally deranged as Goblin is and is rational to reason with which would play a huge part into the fight. Captain America would stay calm into the thick of this fight and will not give up no matter how much he gets beaten down. Captain America wins through sheer will power alone tbh.
I agree. Physicality wise Goblin is superior but Cap is just way more experienced in taking on bigger the feats, way more skilled and is a beater strategic fighter. Not to mention his shield
Green Goblin wins mid to high dif. Problem is, Steve shield has been caught by the Winter Soldier who is comparable to Steve. Green Goblin can fight a spider sense awoken Spider-Man. At the end of the day the shield won't do a thing except buy Cap time from the inevitable, willpower on Cap side be damned.

When all your hard strategic benefits are matched and exceeded, the same with the strategic approach in gear, and literally the only thing you have left is soft intangibles such as willpower against the superior force-You are going to lose more times than not. Out-muscled, out-gunned, the rest is history.
I realize that it's hardly relevant when discussing feats, but Cap's unassailable MORAL high ground is something that I think would play into the fight as well. Steve Rogers is not only a living refutation of everything the Goblin stands for, but also he stands as the example of everything Goblin was supposed- and failed- to be, and unlike Spidey there's no suitable psychological flaws for Goblin's mind games to work upon.
Whatever Cap's personal demons, the Green Goblin's not one to evoke them, he'd just be treated as a Red Skull minus the vision... And that would play a relevant part in this fight, methinks.

Without the thousands of years of battle experience they would not be able to use the power as effectively. But wielding the hammer immediately gives you a huge boost over GG.
If it’s a test of brute strength yes goblin wins. And if compared with weapons then his shield wins. But i feel like cap is stronger when it comes to technique, especially endurance, and skills with strategy.
I’d like to think of it as cap having the skills of thanos and Goblin having the strength of thanos. Cap wins based on endurance and skills. Goblin wins purely on strength.
And I wouldn’t compare the brief fight from Spider-Man vs cap because even though Tom Holland’s spider man didn’t know his own strength, cap wasn’t trying to hurt him either. You can clearly tell in that fight. I’m not saying cap is stronger. I’m saying that we don’t exactly know how much of a fight cap would NEED to put up against Spider-Man in his prime in the Marvel Universe on screen. You also forgot how all 3 Spider-Men dodged and fought with Electro's electricity blasts. Electricity travels 50-100% the sol and as Electro was at full power with the arc reactor, there is no reason why his blasts aren't light speed. Tom scales to this, Goblin scales to this and many more in the MCU scale to this.
I think that’s flawed just because it’s literally impossible for them to dodge light speed attacks, you would have to move at the speed of light. The reason they were able to dodge those attacks were due to their spider senses. They knew where the lightning would be going, it’s not them reacting to the lightning.

All of them have the spider sense, and because of this ability, they most likely knew where the lightning strikes would go, so they actually had a short time advantage, and although it makes their reaction speed very fast, it doesnt put it nearly to light Speed.
I think this is one of those match-ups where it could really go either way depending on what one personally thinks is more valuable. Immense skill, or immense power. Cap isn't lacking in power by any means, but he certainly doesn't scale to Goblin. Goblin isn't necessarily lacking in skill, but he is very much a brawler who relies heavily on tech when he gets overwhelmed, while Cap is *arguably* the best martial artist in the entire MCU. Personally I think Cap has the slight advantage due to his tactical ingenuity, and unparalleled skill. His first move would probably be getting rid of Goblin's glider with his shield, and once he does that it becomes a much different fight. Cap gets my vote 6 or 7 times out of 10.

I asked my group of friends this question the week after the movie came out and everyone without hesitation said cap would destroy goblin. Their main theory being that cap has always held back his strength and only ever really let loose with Thanos. Personally after the apartment scene where goblin Molly whops Peter I disagreed and said it’d be a way closer fight. It kinda seems wrong that green goblin would win but hey it’s a cool fan fic to theorize.

My answer before the video: Yeah green goblin stomps. He’s immensely more powerful, cap WITH adrenaline could stop the helicopter. Norman when casual held a train car full of people casually while talking with one hand.
Norman could react to the spider men who could all dodge electros lightning and even saw it in slow motion. Captain America has no single feat even near this in combat and reaction speed.
Norman took no holding back (I say he wasn’t holding back since he JUST threatened aunt May, and was on his way to kill her, and look at his face with his elbow strikes to Norman’s head, he’s not holding back dude) punches from spiderman and laughed, and even when Tom was rage boosted, he still got cut, punched, and Norman took a bunch of those attacks too, and was surprised from being webbed up, which is honestly one of the best reasons Tom wasn’t injured far more. Cap gets mashed.
Norman could easily break out of peters webs, which Bucky and Sam couldn’t. Norman with his glider could cut off one of doc ocks tentacles, which was able to survive hits from iron spider spiderman, who also beat iron spider Peter, when it comes to weapons, Norman wins.
Also captain America throwing ultron was him redirecting his angle, ultron was already in full thrust, meaning he is a lot less. Though I agree cap should be small building level for non god cap.

Fight matchups like this are kind of silly imo because Cap rarely fights alone. He always has a well coordinated and skilled group fighting at his side (and under his command). Look at the fight with him, Black Widow, and the Falcon vs Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight (two highly skilled, well equipped, and extremely powerful foes), Caps team (a super soldier and two humans) stomped them and sent them running. Cap truly shines as a leader and tactician.

With the way Goblin has been able to whoop Raimi Spider-Man in the first Spider-Man movie, who's often seen as the most durable and strongest of the 3 Spider-Men. And considering is fight with Tom Holland Spider-Man, who goblin completely obliterates, it's safe to say Goblin beats Cap. I mean plk like to bring up how insane the Goblin is and how calm calculating Steve is, but ppl forget how focused Goblin was in both of the Spider-Man fights, especially no way home apartment battle. It's like Goblin was trying to teach Tom Holland Spider-Man a lesson, which goes back to his offer to Spider-Man in Sam raimi films. I think it's a deeper meaning behind that fight, and a connection to his offer in the raimi films. I'm slight off topic but, I feel like Goblin is trying to turn Spider-Man into a villain by showing that despite eing a hero chaos and deaths still follows, so it's no point in being a hero when you can just be a person that takes from everyone and no one can stop you, which ties into his whole "gods" speech. But anyways, as much as I like Cap, Goblin is stronger, and equally as skilled in my opinion. Again MCU Spider-Man is durable enough to take full on hits from locomotives, yet Goblin is able to break ribs and completely break Tom Holland Spider-Man. Let that sink in. He beat the breaks off of Tobey Spider-Man, but didn't break any ribs and Spider-Man was able to realize his strength and over came the Goblin. Someone's who's equally as skilled as Cap, Cap has a hard time with. I don't think Cap would beat bucky if he hadn't reached through to him simply by calling him bucky. The winter soldier is a more skilled relentless agressive version of Cap who doesn't mind killing. Amd Goblin is exactly that, but stronger. that's my opinion.
Goblin is no where near as skilled as Cap. Both Tom and Tobey's Spidermen have virtually no hand to hand combat skills or training. Mostly they just rely on reflexes and swing wildly, and still were both able to overpower Goblin. Also we don't know exactly how durable Goblins glider is but I'm quite sure Cap could take it out with his shield, and tactically that is something he would aim for first. Goblin is much stronger than Cap, yes. But in terms of speed Cap is superior.

I hear the same feats being mentioned in opposition to CA: Cap hardly catching Bucky’s hand whilr SM “easily” catching Buckey’s hand; Goblin injuring a “stronger” Peter who can hold a ferry or lift rubble- whatever guys. Steve has no diffed and gotten up after many Thanos punches, taken on BP and War Machine at the same time, easily tanked Crossbones punches, fought a Bloodlusted Bucky, while holding back since it’s, well, his best friend; he is easily is 60+ ton range lifter and not 10 ton range like people say(Winter Soldier beam while shot twice and beaten to a bloody pulp, also lifting from a position with little leverage), which doesn’t even matter because you can’t lift someone to death. Cap has way more experience, his durability is nothing to scoff at especially in this fight, he’s too smart and too skilled. Matchups make the fight, not always the power-scaling.

60+ tons roughly is the weight of the beam he lifted in CA: Winter Soldier. He was also shot twice and beaten up badly. And the way he lifted it lacked much leverage, so the way he lifted it was even more difficult. Also Cap has curled a ton and a half(helicopter) in CA: Civil War so he’s already stronger than the Cap you’re calculating.
He got punched by Thanos in Infinity War and got up moments later, unscathed. This was base CA, no Mjolnir amp. The scaling of this punch is ambiguous, but it is worthy to note that he has only ever been knocked out twice and both times were by Thanos. And there’s a difference between piercing damage and blunt force. Neither Goblin nor Peter are bullet proof- well Peter at least. We’ve never seen Goblin, but that’s neither here nor there.

Take into account that in Civil War it was Caps first time fighting Spiderman too. He didn't know what to expect. And he was holding back not only because he doesn't kill, but holding back even more because he knows it's a kid behind the mask. Cap had no intention of hurting him what so ever, just suppressing him so he can get the winter soldier out.

First Captain America would lose horribly. He’d pick himself up and rendezvous with the other characters, possibly learn some more information, maybe tie up an emotional subplot or two. Then when they meet again in the climax, Cap triumphantly wins.

It was literally said in that same scene that the “cure” didn’t work. Norman even helped make the cure, so it would make sense that Goblin would take over and rig the cure. I swear this “he was weakened by the cure” excuse makes no sense.

Green goblin can lift 12 tons while captain america can barely lift 2 tons
I feel like both could beat each other their not that much different from each other in strength and power’s but i feel like it would be super difficult if Green Goblin has his his glider, razor bats, and pumpkin bombs all with him during their fight.

Even with Mjiolnir, Goblin is the kind of guy will secretly strap bombs to hammer. Cap probably takes it with the that buff, without it he’s toast.

Rogers could just take out the glider with a shield throw and then use that in combat to damage G.G’s suit and eventually beat him down using the shield to block pumpkin bombs, blades and basic attacks.
Problem is if Goblin can overpower Spidey in melee I don’t see Cap beating him down at all. Norman would more likely put Cap to sleep like Thanos did.
Goby wins. He's stronger, too versatile, capable of long range attacks(and have the reflexes to dodge cap's shield) and can deliver more damage to cap that cap can give him. It'll be close if cap can keep his shield to protect him from the pumpkin bombs and bat projectiles. It'll come downs to getting goby off that glider. Even spiderman realize that getting goby off that glider to stand a chance against him.
This will look like captain America Vs Loki but it is even more of an stomp with the glider

Doesn't need to hurt. Cap is just an enhanced human. Its not about who would win. Its really how children think. The comparison shouldn't even be made. Cap vs Panther, would be a more fair comparison. That's why the villian tends to be similar to the hero. Winter soldier and Redskull was similar to Cap.

Undoubtedly. But what many of you people commenting on the victory of Goblin don't realize is just the absurd difference of speed. Captian America is twice as fast as Goblin and no amount of raw strength will beat Cap's speed.
Just think about Captain America's knife fighting close quarters encounter with the Winter Soldier on the street and then think about the encounter between Goblin and Peter Parker (Tom Holland of No way home).
Yes, a punch from the Goblin would be incredible in power, but Cap would already deliver like two to three punches before Goblin would ever knew what even happened.

One of Cap's specialties is punching above his weight class. Look at how he gave pre-Vibranium Ultron a run for his money or used his strategic prowess and technical talent with Mjolnir to make Thanos sweat. Without the shield I could see it going either way if Cap plays it smart and manages to use Goblin's weapons against him. With the shield Cap takes this with a good deal of effort. With Mjolnir it's lights out for Gobby before he can say "Oh"

Goblin has Steve beat when it comes to smarts, the dude is super intelligent but also crafty and diabolical even more so than both Ultron and Thanos. Even if Cap had Mjlonir Norman has so many tricks at his disposal that Cap wouldn’t see coming. He had genuine trouble fighting Loki and Goblin is more devious than even antler boy.

We never really see any mentio Goblin is a skilled fighter. If Cap can bust up Thanos with Mjolnir there is absolutely no way Goblin stands a chance. Sure he might be a genius, but that is in regards to science, not necessarily tactical genius like cap possesses

@@BeatAces it’s just movie inconsistencies, very few action scenes in these kind of things actually work logically between the science and the fighting styles. My best explanation is it was hot enough to burn the bodies instead of concessive force which would obviously destroy the balcony.
Think about it like a video game. That particular pumpkin bomb had low "physical damage" but high "radiation damage." The number of "joules" it had was massive, but it was specialized for killing people, not structures.

If it’s comic Cap he wins, as he recently beat Taskmaster by himself like a beast, and defeated Warpath who’s almost as strong as colossus and way stronger then green goblin, so I’d give it to him. Now MCU cap would struggle, as he’s much weaker when compared to his comic counterpart, but if he utilizes strategy over brute force he could very well pull off a win.

also, Taskmaster doesn't have super strength either. Cap sorta does, he's peak human which I sorta consider super low level super abilities. So having Cap take down Taskmaster isn't really a big deal

Another thing you should include: Goblin tanks full force punches from Spiderman. Its confirmed Spidey holds back all the time so he doesn't accidentally put any villain or criminal in the morgue. Goblin is taking full force punches from Peter and LAUGHING THEM OFF. Captain America doesn't need to hold back since yes hes extremely strong, but his punches aren't lethal to the point of an early grave. So if Goblin can shrug off Spiderman's full force punches like he won the lottery, then caps strongest punches won't even phase him in the slightest

This video failed to point out some feats of Cap like holding Thanos's hand with Infinity gauntlet , lifting the metal beam etc.
Also this vid proves how Cap can beat Goblin. I mean we all know who would win in a hand to hand combat . Cap beat Ironman in hand to hand , and Ironman can copy moves and move at superspeed with his suit's assistance. Even when Friday tried , it couldn't totally counter Cap. Goblin is strong but that much enough to overpower Cap like thanos did. And it all went down to how far Cap would go with holding back like always . Green Goblin wins and it’s not that close. Cap is my favorite Marvel character but his power is vastly overrated and that shield only covers so much.
Cap usually holds back his true strength, coupled with the fact he's a martial artist seconded perhaps to Shang-Chi and the use of his indestructible shield on body joints and even the throats of his more powerful opponents. Cap survived battling with far more superior foes like Ultron, Loki, Ironman the Black Order. Cap is also use to dealing with psychopathic madmen with super scientific weapons, see the Red Skull and his Third Reich for an example.
You’re treating Cap like he’s Superman, he has been knocked around by complete normies like Batroc and only survives against those “more powerful opponents” thanks to either allies, buffs or plot armour. Corvus Glaive would’ve outright killed him if Vision didn’t save Steve’s ass. This would be the same as the Iron Man fight except Goblin unlike Tony would use all his deadly weapons and Bucky isn’t there to bail Steve out.

The way they powered up GG was unexpected to say the least 😂
Stark says to Parker in homecoming that “trust me kid, if captain America wanted to lay you out, he would have.” What he’s saying is that even against him, he held back to some degree. That’s because cap has the emotional maturity to use the exact level of force required to deal with a threat. When he fights iron man, he starts by disabling his flight ability, and trying to reason with tony. When that fails, he slowly escalates, trying to block him or preventing him reaching Bucky. When Bucky is in real peril, he swaps to blows to starts head, until countered. It’s only when he’s left with no choice that he actually goes for two heavy blows, one to the helmet smashing it, as if to say”the next is your face” stark reacts by shielding his face, exposing the reactor, which is taken out, ultimately crippling him.
Apply that logic to the goblin fight. Cap isn’t being blindsided because of misplaced faith in the goodness of a person, so instead of being reactionary, he’s now acting on his own schedule. Step one, disable the glider. Cut goblin’s mobility down and take a weapons platform out of the fight. Yes, goblin is stronger than Cap, who can argue that, but cap can and does use the environment, and is incredibly quick to do so, take how he removes spider man from the fight in Civil War.
Lol you're simply delusional. Skills don't make much difference when the power scaling is too far apart. Take your best fighter, Mike Tyson or whoever, put him into a cell with a gorilla. That gorilla would rip him limb by limb.
I disagree. Bombs, gliders, are all linear weapons. GG would either eventually run out, or capt would figure out how to disable, or riposte the bombs back at GG. We've seen capt deflect projectiles many times. GG may be stronger, but capt is a better fighter, any fighter will know the stronger person will lose to a skilled fighter more often than not, by way of weak points, chokes, or submissions.
The only way is see GG winning is of there were bystanders there who would force capt into a difficult situation.
I think we gotta differentiate applied striking power as opposed to assumed striking power based on lifting strength and durability.
Spider-Man’s striking power has been the least impressive thing about his skill set. In Far From Home, he punched a concrete wall and cracked it, but he also flinched back in pain from doing so.
In contrast, Bucky’s metal arm punched solid concrete, also cracked it, and Bucky didn’t flinch back.
Spider-Man caught Bucky’s metal arm, but this isn’t ruthless Winter Soldier Bucky, this is the Bucky that doesn’t want to hurt or kill anyone and is aware that the people chasing after him now are HEROES. He’s not going to punch with all his might like he would when he’s in brainwashed killer mode.
And despite what people seem to think, Cap does overpower the arm in Winter Soldier. There are times where the arm seems to be getting the upper hand, but that’s Cap still feeling him out. He overpowers and pins it down in their Helicarrier fight. At most, Cap is even with the metal arm.
Spider-Man may have greater lifting strength than Cap and Bucky, but in terms of practical striking power, Cap and Bucky have showings that put them on par with Spider-Man.
Plus, even with all of Spider-Man’s immense durability, he is still vulnerable to getting sucker punched and/or exhausted.
In Homecoming, he knocked himself out jumping on the roof of an armored vehicle. He didn’t expect it, and he got knocked the f*ck out. Even after realizing his full potential, once exhausted, Vulture, an average man, was causing him physical harm with his punches.
Tom Holland’s Peter Parker just doesn’t have a good record with striking feats, so it doesn’t surprise me that he can’t hurt the Green Goblin. Even when he’s not holding back and enraged, he just hasn’t tapped into just how he can basically pulverize to dust human skulls. He just doesn’t have it in him. It’s basically the same situation as Thor vs Awakened Thor. Thor in the Dark World got his ass handed to him by Kurse. His strength was clearly getting overwhelmed and he was putting visible effort, but that wasn’t the limits of his true capability. He needed to realize there was more to his power before he could unlock it. Same with Spider-Man.
Tom’s Peter was definitely enraged, but even with that, it doesn’t mean he’s using full power at Green Goblin.

I think Cap has a better chance against Green Goblin than you think. If Cap can pierce Ultron and Iron Man’s bullet proof suits that can survive getting smacked in the face with a tank shell, then he can smash Green Goblin’s armor and face off with the Shield.

Its interesting they didn't touch on the parallels of cap with red and spidey and goblin, the fact that the serum was a recreation of caps serum and both red and goblin took incomplete versions driving them crazy, while Peter and Steve both got the perfected serum tho spidey had a different delivery so had side effects
The only difference is Peter had a childhood only knowing villains and Steve had a childhood only filled with war
