Wow! You are opening the can! Thank you!
So many preppers refuse to do this- yet they will dedicate an entire video to a product. I appreciate you! Thank you for doing this! This is incredibly useful! Especially since this product is talked about a lot but it is also expensive. Your video is one in a million!

Keystone cold packs the cans so any juice fat so on. Came out of the meat when it was cooked in the can. I can't find it anymore unless it's a seller way over pricing it. I'm glad I got what I have when it was $6.28 a can or less. That's about what it seems like when heated up was about a pound. My wife yelled at me at one point for buying so much. Keystone is as good as homemade, because it contains only meat and salt just like homemade.

I have been purchasing Keystone meats for years. Long before the prices went up. I buy direct from their website. Shipping is a little pricey, but worth it. You get 12 cans of 1.5 lbs. or smaller ones around 1 lb. There are 24 of those in a case. I have bought the hamburger, beef (like roast beef) and chicken. I also purchased their beef and chicken broths. They do have turkey meat and broth too. When I started purchasing it was $75.00/case of 12 plus shipping. I have around 26 cases of the three different meats. ALL of it is a very excellent product. I save and freeze the broths from the meat cans for soups and stews. Their website has a video showing the process from start to finish.

Our Walmart sells Keystone shredded beef for a little over $9. I really like it. It is very versatile. the port and the turkey are also very good and run somewhat cheaper about a $1 less. It is a pricey, but the convenience and the fact it is shelf stable make it worth it to me. It does not stay stocked in the store, and Walmart is only place around here that sells it.

The whitish-looking pieces are beef veins. I got some, as the label states, "grass-fed beef bavette sirloin steaks" from Blue Apron that has very noticeable, large veins running through the meat. Doesn't look very appetizing. "The muscle fibers, or veins, of bavette steak are easily visible. Bavette is a cut of beef from the abdominal muscles of a cow, and is also known as flap steak." Mystery solved.

Thats what I stocked up on! I did try the walmart brand but there was significantly more juices/gravy in the other brands versus a can full of meat. I would buy one or two cans a month because it is expensive but worth for long term storage. I also did home can my own beef. I also purchased the chicken. Haven't found any turkey at the stores yet..

Drained it well and added beef bouillon as the liquid. Two jars didn't seal so we cooked it the next day for tacos and it was wonderful. House of Prep calls the Keystone ground beef the unicorn of canned meat! 🤣It's the hardest one to find. My stores have been out of it for a long time, but I was able to stock some a while ago. It's good, its worth the money, but for new preppers on a budget, I would advise starting with the cheaper meats until you get some things on your shelf. Ewww, could this Keystone meat meal prep be a comeback of the SHTF meals?

  • @breathe4430

I am in the Southwest and any Keystone is a unicorn. I had prepped some before Covid but then I didn’t see any keystone here in Arizona for maybe 18 months. The Walmart finally started carrying the Keystone pork again. And, I was just able to get two additional cans of the roast beef. Walmart had a limit on those and the price went up three dollars a can by the way. But I have not seen the ground beef in well over two years. So I did find a resource who freeze-dries organic Colorado beef and he had sirloin burgers. I got a few bags of the freeze dried and after I did the math they were about the same price as Keystone. And, the free stripe will last for 25 years.

As far as the 80/20 ground chuck, that you buy at your local supermarket, I'm sure, it too has the occasional unidentified particles. Have you ever read up on pink slime that is added to our meat. I pressure can all my meat, meat stored for Winter use. Pressure canning ground beef is quite common, versus canning meat cubes or fish, unless you're living within the rural northern latitudes. Usually only buy a very small selection of the store bought canned meat for very long term storage. Store bought canned meat usually contains extremely large amounts of fat and sodium. On the flip, your particular store bought canned ground beef can likely be easily rendered of most of the fat, boiling the meat within a good amount of water, then subsequently refrigerating the liquid over night. Looks far better than some of the other more well known store bought canned beef.

I've seen that too, I'm in MI and get Keystone at the lower price. When you go online at Walmart, on the left side of the screen there should be where you can click on "retailer", and it should drop down. It may show three options: "Walmart", "Pro Seller" and "Marketplace". You always check the Walmart box, and it will remove any merchandise the other two are selling. I've noticed the other two retailers (I think they buy it from Walmart, mark it up, like on Ebay, Amazon and hope someone will make a mistake and buy from them, or Walmart has none in stock and they do, for the high price) have some ridiculous prices for the same items Walmart is still selling for much lower prices. If you have a Walmart login, don't use it, just try going to Walmart.com unidentified and put in Keystone canned meat and see how it comes up. Also, the best by date on the Keystone is 5 years, but I've used can's that are 7-8 years old that were still good. I never buy from the other overpriced retailers on the Walmart web site. Good luck!

I’ve eaten the ground beef and it is nothing to brag about. The texture is soft and soggy, there is a lot of fluid in the can and the flavor is bland. It has great shelf life and is a good prep to have for when the food chain collapses. 😳

I like keystone and have both types of beef and their chicken on the shelf. It's good but it's pricey even before the plan-demic kicked in but worth it. For for those folks who are not able to do home canning it's a wonderful alternative so I would say thumbs up to keystone and thumbs up to you Linda for showing this one. I cant wait to see just what your going to make with it.

Iv tried the other beef from keystone, and Im so impressed that tomorrow and Im going to they're site and buying 12 different cans and 20 of the chicken and beef bullion to put away. Way cheaper then other companies that have the canned meat

I picked up a can of this stuff to feed my dog in case I ran out of food. I make my dogs food usually. Now that meat is ridiculous I buy meat already cooked. It comes out to be more economical by the time I buy everything to go into the food. Im still saving that can. Thanks for showing me what’s inside. It’s to bad folks are being gouged for hamburger. Ground beef is made from scraps of whatever. I do mean what ever! Sometimes you get bone. Those straggly looken things are scraps from Lord only knows what! Want a good grade of ground beef buy ground sirloin, usually there are no foreign pieces to wonder about.

These cans are $6.50 at walmart online for me and I'm in silicon valley. Keystone stopped shipping to CA (I bought from them twice before) and they won't give me an anwer why after I asked them twice! Yet, their site sends me reminders I have stuff in my cart. It's ridiculous. Walmart is way cheaper than buying direct for me, anyway Glad the fat comes out like that so I can remove it easily. I HATE any fat on my meat. I always remove it. Glad I found your new channel 30 minutes ago when I searched for you after I realized You disappeared. Thanks for showing!

I do envy you that has so many things to choose between when it comes to canned food. Where I live we have like: meatballs in sauce, ham, chillicorncarne, tuna and tiny tiny packages with chicken. And of course ravioli and small variaty of soup.

That juice was out of the meat as it was cold packed at the plant so its weight counts. If you buy a pound and a half of raw beef you will end up with the same results after rendering it down. Save that juice for gravy or soup stock. Haven't seen it in the store for almost 3 years now. And the markup on-line is insane.

I just wonder what is mixed in this product to help make it shelf stable for so long? It must have some kind of fillers to add to the volume of the meat in the can. But $9 for a pound of questionable ground beef…. that seems to be a bit unreasonable. Thanks for sharing the video.
