Why would anyone want to eat canned ham? Why would anyone be forced to use it as an option? Unless you live way out in the boonies? Why?
Dutch colony hams have been my go to for years.
Very tasty and can be used in a lot of dishes.
Breakfast make ham fries with canned ham.
Cook in air fryer or oven till browned and sizzly.
We used to get good Danish canned ham. Cheap everywhere, I haven't seen it for years. It made delicious deviled ham salad sandwiches.
I grew up eating Hormel canned ham and still make it sometimes. I’m 62 in a few days. The 2 or 3 pound size not the tuna can size.
During World War II, SPAM was shipped to the Red Army in the USSR to feed their troops so they would not starve. When Nikita Khrushchev visited the US, he was given a tour of the SPAM processing plant in Austin, Minnesota. He thanked Hormel Foods for helping to save his nation.
It was not Spam. It was Tushonka. Stewed pork prepared from Russian recipe. It was a superior product in comparison to garbage Spam.
Why do you keep comparing the bad ones to Spam? Spam is delicious!

I’ve never really been a canned ham fan. This helped me understand why.

Great video. I loved the comparisons of most of the canned yams to Spam, which makes my stomach turn. I'll stay with that Deviled Ham for lunch & smoked shoulder for dinner. Those canned ones were nothing but salt water to me...
I've thrown out every canned ham I've ever tried. I admit I haven't tried the smaller canned examples you've shown and may try one if I ever see it in a store, but every one of those larger ones I've ever had I've pitched in the trash after opening. Bad smell, bad taste, etc. I generally stick with what takes a long time to prepare or out of the deli instead. I've had good canned roast beef and good canned chicken and spam can be ok in a pinch but if I'm that desperate for protein, I'll just go with beans instead.

try finding it in the usa though....
I have tried many canned hams (including many on this list) and imo Aldi's canned ham (Brookdale) is the best I have ever had. Prepare it in the oven w brown sugar on top and it's unbelievable. It's non-inclusion on this list makes the whole thing suspect.

Hormel's canned smoked ham is amazing i eat it 3-4 times a week with some kind of potato or rice i just wish they cam in bigger containers because some times i want a bit more but dont want to open 2 cans
We used to eat the can ham for special occasions when I was young and my mom would put sliced pineapple with cherries in the middle.
My parents bought Dubuque brand canned hams, usually five to eight pounds each, for large family gatherings. My mother scored the top, then topped them with dark brown sugar, pineapple rings (canned slices) and cherries, then poured the pineapple syrup (not available in juice at the time) over the entire thing. Baked at 325°F for about 15 to 20 minutes per pound, basting periodically. Cover with foil if necessary.
It was good and we enjoyed leftovers, sometimes freezing slices--when larger freezers became the norm!
No on liked HORMEL hams. They were significantly inferior to Dubuque (haven't seen one in 30 years or so--I'm thinking they ceased production when spiral sliced hams became popular). The Hormel hams texture was awful and they had a nasty after taste.
Personally, I don't think canned hams are intended to be eaten directly out of the can. Is it safe? Yes. Does it taste good or look appealing? NO!
And, yes, canned ham is very salty, regardless of brand. For us, it was an occasional, inexpensive treat to be shared with special people. No one ate humongous quantities in a short period of time. It always was accompanied by fresh, roasted vegetables.
After all, if you're using the oven for one thing, you might as well save some money and cook other things simultaneously. 👍
Where would Tailor Pork Roll be compared in a review video like this? When will reviews of other types of salad dressings be done? Thanks for that review of ranch dressings , hidden valley buttermilk ranch dressing deserved best on list and that certainly improved my daily salads
Ate a Dubuque canned ham today for the first time in my life. It was a 7/10.

Hormel Black Label canned ham is good.
The only canned ham I ever liked was Swift Hostess ham and they were in a round can and great, they still sell Armour canned hams.

Goya is the best. It makes great ham salad w Mayo and onions, or just cooked with potatoes and cheese sauce! Or, cook it with yams w corn bread. Spaniards are known for good ham, Spam's yummy.

Goyas truly awful i never had canned ham before and got some from the food bank. They even put phosphates in it why? They put so much salt in it they don't need a perservative

When I find a ham it has a best by date 4-5 years later. My point is, since the pandemic I haven’t seen the DAK ham, I barely even seen the Aldi Brookside ham either… I do prefer canned ham over SPAM

Bristol is the first canned ham ive tried (literally had it like an hour ago) and it was fantastic! I was so shocked to see it was at the very bottem of the list. (To be exact it wasnt the exact kind, i had the original but still)

Canned Ham....lol....We only eat them during Emergencies. Like when a hurricane rips through leaving us landlock without power. Then ALL canned Ham's are edible.

HORMEL BLACK LABEL hams are the best, better than ANY fresh smoked ham ,, i used to buy them in 10# and 5# cans then they were only found in 3# cans ,,,and within the last year nothing,,, sad

But you ignored most of the good canned hams. There are great canned hams but you missed them all. Omaha Steaks has a great one that is actual ham, not some mystery substance like 90% of this list. Wow! You all seem to despise Spam yet review so-called "ham" and call it good? Really? Why did you omit the Hormel 5lb canned ham that is an actual boneless ham? Krakus is a great ham.
