I’m only 26, but I love watching videos like this because it helps me see the projected benefits of the health journey that I’m currently on! I started working out 4-5 days in October and I’d like to continue with 3-4 days a week for the rest of my life! I also eat a lot healthier now but have a balance by not restricting anything and eating the things that are not as healthful in moderation :)

Thank you for mentioning hormones, menopause, and aging. I am still in my 20s but aging for women is not talked about nearly enough. It's something women should know more about in order to age healthily, comfortably, mindfully.

Two tips for you if I may, I am 57 & started working out in a gym at exactly 20 years old, so that my 50's would be plain sailing. Tip one exercise now for the remainder of your life, tip two enjoy alcohol & eating out in moderation your body will thank you for it. I currently live in Germany & have lived in 4 different countries the Mediterranean diet is fabulous, fresh fruit & veg & lots of water. Cycling is big in Germany so I started proper cycling at aged 45. I love it. I cruised through menopause that I did not even notice, no hot flashes, no change to my energy levels or mood swings. I weighed 50kg when I got pregnant with my twins in 2001 & now weigh 53kg. Because of correct eating & drinking & exercise. Everything in moderation will serve a body well. Treat it well & it will treat you well. Good luck.

Good morning my friends! The salmon salad & dressing recipes aren't on my blog yet so here they are:
Salmon Salad: It's not really a recipe, I just do it by eye so measurements are approximate.
Break up 1 can of canned salmon into a bowl.
Pour in cider vinegar to moisten (about 1 T)
Add a heavy sprinkle of curry powder (1t), a shake of cumin, & Trader Joe's Nori Kome Furikaki Multipurpose Seasoning (1/2 t), a grind of fresh black pepper.
    Stir to combine.
Add 1T Cedars Tzatziki or Plain Greek Yogurt & mix.
Add chopped pickles, onions, grapes or whatever you like to taste!
Lemon Tahini Balsamic Vinegar Dressing recipe:
I use this recipe for the base: www.loveandlemons.com/tahini-sauce/ then I fill an empty dressing bottle 1/2 full with it and then add balsamic vinegar to fill to the top. Shake to mix.

We can’t underestimate the power of diet and lifestyle when it comes to anti-aging. I’m turning 52 next week and people always guess my age in my 30’s. I’ve been exercising and eating healthy since my 20’s and before that I grew up on a farm where we grew and made almost everything except sugar. We made our own flour and butter even! It’s absolutely important for our future self, both in appearance but also just independence. As a trainer I’ve had many clients 60-80 years old and it’s shocking how much more able and independent a person is when they exercise. That’s huge motivation!

I just apply what Angie says as well: MODERATION. I have cheese, wine, chocolate several times a week. This is a prefect depiction of plant based eating. It’s so rare to see non polarized eating routines. It’s evident that you make an effort to move the needle to healthy and veg based where it’s within your control, and don’t obsess about the times you’re out, with others/lazy. And that’s what we should all aim for.

I eat a plant based diet and I get a lot of compliments on how young I look. I absolutely attribute to diet and exercise. Before covid, an elderly lady at my local grocery store asked for help to get a product off the shelf. She was too short to reach it, but very capable otherwise. She was pushing a big cart and shopping without any assistance. When she reached the cashier, they all greeted her. One of the employees said to me, “Can you believe she’s 97 years old?”. Speechless. No walker, active, alert, amazing. The 97 yo said that she attributes it to her diet. She hadn’t eaten meat since her 60s. I told her I had stopped eating dairy and meat 6 years ago, she said I’m on the right track. My next step is to cut out sugar.

Hi Penny! I eat very healthy and clean and get compliments all the time on looking ab fab for my age as well. I cut out sugar totally years ago (cause of so many conditions stemming from inflammation, oxidation and mitochondria illhealth ) along with all grains, legumes, high starch veggies and seed oils. I never touch processed anything, buy organic if I can and also only source from certified regenerative farming. My heritage is 100% far Northern Europe/high alpine climate, my relatives live long and well. For me, I feel fantastic at 55yo, have zero issues, never sick, never had a hot flash either! In the spirit of respecting diversity and choice , it’s refreshing to accept that it’s different strokes for different folks. Me, personally, am excited you are considering cutting sugar. Will make a difference. Best of luck and continued health to you.

@@MM-li8nk ....I eat a balance of plant based , although I do eat organic meats ( beef and chicken) ...due to there being an enzyme in Red Meat that women actually need, and it is not in any other food. I love love love Salmon ( Sammy is my friend, lol) and also eat the Wild Planet Tuna, its really good. I do however, eat certain beans ( Legumes ) because those prevent gall bladder issues. I have not ever had a ' hot flash', either...I am 66 years young, and still roller skate, do Tracy Anderson Workout and I like walking as well. I believe in things in moderation, so I am like Miss Angie....I have a slice of Pizza....A slice of Lemon Meringue Pie ( my favourite, lol) but I am not eating those things everyday. I dont use sugar in tea, etc...its straight up, lol. I love my smoothies and have those about 2-3 times a week for breakfast . I also believe that genetics play a role in how we age, I am Irish/ English and my mother looked young for her age, for a good amount of time. I also have not ever smoked, no drugs, seldom have alcohol. Its nice to read the comments from other ladies who share their food plan/ life style choices. Cheers and Blessings to you lovely ladies !

@@texasstardust6010 oh yes, the genetics, I am blessed but the thing is I don’t want to ruin it. Why do that? I do indulge, my weakness is a small cappuccino with a slice of lemon tea cake or half a vanilla slice. But that is only about once every 3 weeks or so. My taste for sugar is so super sensitive now. I can taste it a mile away. My pantry is so boring! My fridge has fresh produce. 100% on meat 💕. I need to watch the salmon here as what’s available can be considered high in mercury. If you hunt around, some are ok, but it’s super super expensive and not available all the time, and wild caught ones are not all equal. Wine, sure, but only when I go out and I’ve got to really feel like ‘ya know what, a nice ice cold glass of bubbly will hit the spot tonight’ but that’s also only about once a month. I want to thank you so much for making this video. My mom is 78 and looking fantastic. But she needs ideas on how to keep her blood sugar low and cooking ideas. And did my fiancé, he’s pushing 60 and eats out all the time. He lives near a Trader Joe’s and a Whole Foods. So I’m trying to do what you do to set an example for him. I love all the choices you make for yourself and how you stay with it. I know how it feels to go off of the healthy eating. I have autoimmune disease and just tested positive for lupus. I’m an RN. I know what happens to a person that doesn’t have the tools to take this kind of care of themselves. Thank you so very much!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing your routine! It looks wonderful, especially that salad. Although you describe your routine as 'boring', meal planning and consistency are important. It's what I utilized in order to maintain a 55 lb weight loss over 20 years. I have naturally low cholesterol, but diabetes runs in my family. We're Russian, and at 5' 9" and 160, I'm the smallest in my family. All my aunts and uncles are over 6' and 200lbs+. One aunt is 6' 3".
Interesting to see how different diets work for different people. Your breakfast has grains and juice first thing in the morning. If I ate like that, I'd be hungry all day. I have egg whites and a gluten-free hemp-protein pancake with raw nuts, and that satisfies me until lunch. I also must work out seven days a week. Even at my thinnest, I'm a naturally bigger, rounder person (nothing wrong with that) who builds muscle mass easily. So we're all so different. It makes life more interesting.. :)

Great video! I'm in my mid-40s, and I treasure my health and wellness now, in a way that maybe doesn't come naturally to us in our youth. I take good care of my mind, body and soul - and as a result, my mood is upbeat and even, I can move and lift with ease, I have an abundance of energy but sleep soundly. I am grateful to say I feel the best I ever have, and that's thanks in large part to the perspective and discipline that come with age.

i appreciate watching and hearing about other peoples health journeys. i've been dealing with extreme hunger since i was a child, and as an adult, while it has improved, it's been a challenging thing to deal with. i started doing whole30 recently, and i'm just about half way through the program, and i gotta say, it's been an amazing reset for me. my desire to always consume sugar in some form (excluding fruit) has diminished so flipping much, it's amazing! and for once in my life i'm eating foods that help me feel satiated. like, i finish my meal and i'm full. like, what?? but anyways, everyone's body is so different and everyone has different physical and phycological needs, so to each their own. once i'm done the 30 days, i hope to keep my new healthy habits throughout my life, but still have the chance to enjoy myself. i mean, come on. if you say no to a slice of cheese cake, you may as well lack a pulse, lol!!

Hey Angie, I'm fairly new to your channel and am loving it. This is a great video, I love your honest, down to earth approach to eating healthily.
I turned 50 last year and also lost over a hundred pounds, (in more than a year!). I've battled food demons all my life but I finally got help with it and I've learned the same lessons that you have instinctively been living by - eat healthily most of the time but don't deprive yourself, it's ok to have unhealthy foods but just not on a regular basis. It's not often you hear people advocating that so it's refreshing that you don't hide the unhealthy snacks in your video! I also chuckled to myself when you said you eat the same every day except for dinner as that's what I do too! I'm going to look up your recipes though and see where I can tweak and eat a little better.
Thank you for always keeping it real and honest and look forward to watching many more of your videos x

The Keto lifestyle has saved my life. I feel and look better than I did in my 30's. I will be 60 yo in 6 days.😁

I love the concept to have the same thing for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack and to only build in variety with dinner. As you say, it saves yourself from sooo many decisions and makes meal prepping easy 😍

You say you’re not into food for pleasure, but your food is so delicious looking. It is absolutely pleasurable, the presentation, the freshness, the variety, and all the flavors! Angie, you are rocking pleasure on your plate! The bonus is that it is healthy.

That tiny salad bowl was giving me anxiety. Oversized and toss that salad! Life changing.

I thought the same thing about the small salad bowl until I saw that she was eating it with a piece of healthy bread and hummus. That will help fill you up along with the bubbly soda water and a splash of cranberry juice. I love it, what a balanced lunch!

@@sarahroelof9627 the size of the salad is perfect! I was referring to the size of the bowl. So much easier to toss all those ingredients when you switch to an oversized bowl. Try it! Trust me.

I practice Intuitive Eating. I eat only what my body truly needs and wants and only when I'm physically hungry not emotionally hungry, I'm mindful of what I am eating and I stop when I'm comfortably full. It's the most rewarding diet and free way to live, Ever! For breakfast I eat salmon and drink organic bone broth. Hey, what can I say, I'm Scandinavian. Sounds to me like you're an I.E. as well Angie. Great video.
