Kiko. You have really brought new life and energy to Megadeth with these videos. It's not just grumpy Dave putting out albums hoping you could catch Megadeth in concert. It really helps reel us old fans back in. Great job.
The Neural guys are amazing people. While I'm long term using my Helix for stuff because it is integrated so well into my setup I had a lot of conversations with these guys during the process of the development of the Quad Cortex and specifically to try to make the eventual editor software more accessible for the blind. They gave it a shot and I think will keep trying at it off and on as it develops more. Great seeing you using a peace of gear like that on stage and giving these guys some very high profile love and exposure to new markets. Keep doing your thing brother
Watching Kiko (and Keaton) teaching us a lot of stuff about his "gadgets" while Hallowed Be Thy Name is playing on the background. Am I at heaven??? lol What a great video!!
Hahahaha that's the most professional explanation/ improvisation ever. Thank you Kiko, I'm really wondering to move to quad-cortex. See you in Indianola 🤘
It makes me glad that I just got a multieffect pedal with amps and cabinets simulators and I thought of using the same old school concept of "having" one amp and cabinet, and just adding the different effects to the same one "amp and cab", and seeing Kiko, (one of childhood idols) doing it the same way. Obviously, I cannot compare myself to Kiko, but it makes me think I'm doing something right, if I'm doing the same thing he's doing.
This is so cool of you Kiko. It’s great for the fans to be able to connect. I’m so glad that Dave brought you in to Megadeth. It’s also exposed your music to so many people that otherwise would not have heard it. It looks like you guys are running like a well oiled machine. So professional and engaging to the fans. And everyone exercising and no one abusing drugs or alcohol. The new music is as good as ever. Keep it up!

Kiko has been involved in QC since the beginning so he is just another piece of the youtube hype machine. I've had it and think the AxeFx is definitely a more complete MultiFX unit and better sounding but then again I dont really play metal.
@@EJH-jn6mo I know but Neural DSP officially confirmed about the Kiko's quad cortex use just few weeks back (that is if you follow their page). Archetype: Kiko is whole other concept in relevance of what I've said because we fans patiently wait for its arrival from the maestro himself.
Interesting to see the QC on a gig like this! Convenience has it's advantages! I'm sure the crew likes working with it. Nice of Kiko to show us his setup! I always enjoy seeing stuff like this! ( The show.... behind the show! )

The first time I heard of the Quad Cortex was when I heard that Kiko was using one. That's enough of an endorsement for me. I came here assuming he'd be using a bespoke capture. The fact that it's just one of the stock amp models is amazing. Can't wait to get a QC and try out his patches!

I can't imagine not being in control of your own sound. It sounds like his guitar tech is in total control of that. I like the sound I heard him getting when he was playing back-stage through the Quad Cortex in another video.
I’m also wondering the same thing. I doubt they’re solid state since they’ll over power a 300 watt cab. My guess would be Mesa-Simul 2:Ninety or VHT/Fryette 2902. Just a guess. Hopefully someone chimes in that knows.
@@danrao3707 many people are using solid state amps simply for headroom. They aren’t cranking it and sending 700w to the cab. Remember. Fender needs 200w to simulate a 40w tube amp. Basically 4x as much power. 700w amps do 350 into an 8 ohm cab which is a bit less than 4x 100w.
Confesso que ficaria muito perdido sem nada pra pisar e controlar a guitarra no palco, mas deve ser muito cômodo se preocupar somente tocar e não ter que se preocupar com os efeitos durante o show. actually it's all automated by time code he just said using a program called digital performer that is initiated at the start of each song. i presume the drummer uses a click track and all the patch changes occur at precisely the right time throughout any given song. i also assume that dave would have to have a similar type of setup. you can't have a bunch of dudes stomping pedals backstage the whole show, but that would be funny though seeing a few guys jumping around doing that.
Nice! Doesn't seem to complicated, and it also sounds great which is the most important factor after all. Looks like it makes the job of the tech much easier too, since the program/patch/scene changes are done via midi instead of him having to punch the knobs/buttons for every change in sound.
Man that's the way to do it, it's a little bit to learn but once it's going it's the best around. I love how they ran things in the old days but this feels better for the whole band with the least amount of mistakes 🔥🤘💯
I love the simplicity of this setup, but I have a question for anyone who can answer. From what I understand, to get smooth transitions from one preset to another you need to use the Scene mode and include all the devices in that scene. But it looks like Kiko has every sound set up as a separate preset. So, is the midi controlled switching as smooth as scene changes? Because otherwise I would expect a delay in fast switches between presets. I will appreciate any insight on this.
Kiko I was at the show last night in Cincinnati. Every band did an amazing job. However, I noticed the Megadeth set was cut short. What was the reason? I really wanted to hear The Conjuring, Tornado of Souls, etc...
What strikes me as odd are the Radial Engineering JDX. If you use a Quad Cortex, that thing has full IR capabilities. The JDX gets put between an actual amp and a box. I'm not quite sure I understand this setup.
Wish I could see you guys in Missouri this year. never been to a Megadeth concert and you guys are on my bucket list bands to see. Best of luck to you guys on the tour. What would be a good basic guitar setup for a beginner? Enjoy the show everyone that gets to see them this year.

They just use the quad cortex for everything. One signal with cab sim goes to front of house and in ears and one signal without cab sim goes to the on stage cabs. Look at: 6:08 I used to be a pretty big tube amp snob, but their tone is actually killer from what I have heard. Now I am rethinking everting. :P
I hadn't looked at it that way. I was more thinking of tone not of power. You are right. I would expect solid state amps then because they need less maintenance and weigh less. Any tone you want is already coming from the QC.
@@IrLosin here's the thing: I know pretty much about modeling. I have Axe-Fx III and I use powered FRFR cabs for my stage sound. so if Kiko has two 4x12s on stage they have to by powered by something. tube or solid state? which brand? those are my questions. Metallica does something similar. they all use the Axe-Fx but they like a 4x12 cab on stage. so they send a signal out of the Axe-Fx without a cab IR and they use the Matrix solid state amps to push those cabs.
What power amp are you using to drive the cabs on stage though? The quad doesn't have a power amp right? Maybe you said and I didn't see it. Thanks Kiko and guitar amp tech!!!!
The power amps would be fairly irrelevant because of the amp sim/IR/modeling approach of the quad cortex or whatever it’s called. Probably why they didn’t even mention them.
@@morphine0000 I doubt they run tube power amps anymore for the on stage cabs as they use IEMs, and those cabs are mainly for moving some air and feel. Just a guess on my part, I could be completely wrong of course.
@@regortex3364 if he's using a real cab on stage then no IR sim would be necessary. Just a power amp. You don't use IRs wjth a cab. The whole point if an IR is to totally replace a cab but give a cab sound going thru the PA. Now, if he's using a full range flat response cab, then he would need the IR sims. I'm betting he's using a real cab though with a power amp.

What power amp are you using to drive the cabs on stage though? The quad doesn't have a power amp right?
Maybe you said and I didn't see it.
Thanks Kiko and guitar amp tech!!!!
I have the same question. I rewatched the video and there's no mention of which poweramp they're using to drive the cabinets.
The power amps would be fairly irrelevant because of the amp sim/IR/modeling approach of the quad cortex or whatever it’s called.
Probably why they didn’t even mention them.
@@regortex3364 it matters for the cabinets they have on stage, hence the question. For the front of house, they'll use the IRs, of course
