Got a bit of a different question. What are your overall thoughts on the GaN "revolution"? I think most people view it as a net positive but do you think it's more of a marketing gimmick? Or maybe a lazy excuse to stop innovating on efficiency and power quality on the market as a whole because GaN is such a jump anyways? Do you think the cost tradeoff is worth the efficiency? Just wondering how someone who is actually qualified and has no bias views the technology in the market as a whole
The actual gallium nitride technology as a whole is good, mostly the advantages have been in integration though. So, integration of the driver chip, mosfet, and current sense in the same package helps a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if some of these don't contain an actual GaN device. The GaN # is just marketing nonsense though. The actual advantage of switching losses being reduced is just a part of the puzzle, generally the conduction losses are higher. Silicon Carbide is also an interesting technology in this field for higher power levels, like EV chargers. A conventional mosfet circuit can hit 90+% efficiency but due to slower switching speeds may be audible or much larger so the faster speeds in a GaN or SiC device help shrink things. But the transformer, bridge rectifier, output transistors and capacitors lead to a significant amount of losses too. Cost wise, I haven't really seen any differences, UGREEN is selling the 30w adapter for about $10 or for less pretty regularly.
Please review the Nexode Pro series. Just discovered this channel and would love your opinion. I'd like to use the Nexode Pro 160 watt adapter to power 2 usb-c hobby lipo battery chargers at 80w each. Can the top 2 usbc ports do that? I have an iPhone 15 pro max and I was considering this charger in order to charge other gadgets too. However I am a bit sceptical if this charger will produce more heat on the phone ( because of fast charging) ruining my iPhone’s battery overtime.
Yeah, valid concern. Ultimately the phone decides how fast to charge. I believe you can limit charge speed or percentage now in the settings if you want to extend battery life. The fear is higher than the reality though. If the device did the charging irresponsibly, yes it can shorten battery life a lot charging faster but the charge is managed pretty carefully by the phone itself so battery life is only degrading at the rate it would degrade anyway. Charging always slows down as the phones state of charge increases.

Yeah, the audio power amp market has a lot of snake oil. A lot of those mini amps are rated at 10% or more THD, totally unrealistic, and with power supply settings that cause thermal runaway... generally they give you a power supply that can't get the amp into that mode but still say it has that number of watts. Hi, I appreciate your hard work in educating people about choosing the right charger. Keep up the good work. I need your help to figure out one thing; I hope you could assist me. I own an Asus VivoBook, and it has a 4.0*1.35 pin proprietary charger, delivering a 19.0*3.42A = 65W output. I was wondering if I buy: 100W USB C Female to 4.0*1.35 DC Male converter 100W Type C cable with e-marker chip Baseus Gan 5 Pro 65 charger Will I be able to charge the laptop? If yes, is it harmful? What are the downsides of it? If no, is there any alternative to reduce the clutter, as I have to travel a lot for my work? I don't mind charging only one device at a time or charging slowly when charging with my two other phones. Thank you
I've found that any of the USB C to barrel plugs work just fine with 19V rated laptops. I obviously can't test them all but I have had very good luck with it. If you really want to dig into it, you can either contact ASUS or investigate the power circuit on the laptop input to make sure the components can handle 20 volts or so.

Any recommendation for a 65w gan charger? And for 100w? Thank you so much
For 65W, I'm still on the Amazon Basics 65W single port train. For 100W, if size is of most concern, Anker 100W Prime wall charger, if you can do with a bit more bulk, the Baseus 100W GaN3 desktop is still my go to (for lower voltages only).
@@AllThingsOnePlace appreciate it. Thanks and more power to your channel
The robogan chargers look so damn cute. Wondering if the charger works with samsungs super fast charging 2.0? or is there a 3.0 (im using an s22 ultra) Im clueless and I dont understand specs lol. Would you recommend this charger? I really like everything about it.
This will do up to 25W fast charging for that device.
@AllThingsOnePlace oof I rlly thought itd go upto 45w :(( anyways I bought the pink one the aesthetics makes up for the lack of speed haha 😄
Lol in Asia ( vietnam for me ) those charger only half the price you pay for why the hell it is so expensive there lmao. For example I bought a robogan 30w charger when they were on sale here for only 9$. Oh btw i just bought a 140w ugreen that you review years ago and they have update canada and us tuv sud safety listing. 😮
Even more expensive for India... Except for the amazon basic gan chargers 😂
Yeah, I've known about the prices being lower in a lot of Asian markets. Not sure why they'd be more expensive in India though guessing maybe the plug type?
@@AllThingsOnePlace and the high import taxes 😅
Can it supercharge 45w a samsung s24+?Does it support superfast chsrge?
It's in the video, there's like 7 chargers in this video some do and some don't.
COSTCO have 2 X 30W adapters for $29.99 - 6 = $23.99, please review it
I will put it on the list, but I don't really have a way of getting those.
what even is the point of having it be a robot style with feet when I'm just going to have it plugged into an outlet in some obscure corner?
would've been nice if you could put it on top of the desk for the aesthetics.
Yeah, that's what I said.
I love your videos, can you please review ldnio 140w gan charger
Added to the list.
Thank you for your hard work
Thanks for wathing.
I was wondering if I buy:
100W USB C Female to 4.0*1.35 DC Male converter
100W Type C cable with e-marker chip
Baseus Gan 5 Pro 65 charger
Will I be able to charge the laptop? If yes, is it harmful? What are the downsides of it? If no, is there any alternative to reduce the clutter, as I have to travel a lot for my work? I don't mind charging only one device at a time or charging slowly when charging with my two other phones.
Thank you
I've found that any of the USB C to barrel plugs work just fine with 19V rated laptops. I obviously can't test them all but I have had very good luck with it. If you really want to dig into it, you can either contact ASUS or investigate the power circuit on the laptop input to make sure the components can handle 20 volts or so.
@@AllThingsOnePlacethanks for your response. I'll give it a try. Hope it doesn't affect my battery life
Ugreen is the new Xiaomi in the charger market 😂
Not sure about that, they're certainly trying to be the new Anker.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Of course, the new generation Nexode Pro products look like they are premium chargers, on par with Anker power adapters, I hope so, since unfortunately due to my location it is almost impossible for me to obtain an Anker charger.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
amazing work!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I actually bought the robot because I don’t want the folding prongs after so many of them failed after a while of use due to our shitty plugs
mmmm yeah, I can say I don't really use many with the folding plugs. I mostly use desktop supplies with removeable cords.
@@AllThingsOnePlace removable cords are the best imo, but it’s a bit troublesome for light travels. I would get one with it if I’m getting a brick bigger than 100W for longer trips though.
This is a great video. I picked up the UGREEN Nexode mini 30W just the other day, but haven't started using it yet. I'm glad I watched this scientific review. Thanks a bunch...
Thanks for watching! Of course the YT algorithm gave it very few impressions, 1/10th of a normal video.
The same😊
Yet different.
I'm engaged 😁👍
Thanks for watching.
Just awesome review!
I also wonder if you could review nexode pro 65/100w.
They should have digitally regulated voltage and should have similar great characteristics to the 160w version you reviewed already.
Yeah, in terms of output ripple, that one was very good. It was the highlight of the 160W. I do wonder about the efficiency on the smaller ones, but I haven't got them on the schedule yet. They are on the list to do though.
