  • I metal detect the neighbor's yard from last week's episode, which was also a virgin yard. I find tons of old coins and relics, and set my personal record for wheat pennies and have my first double-digit silver day. I use the XP Deus 2 metal detector.

      Thanks! I got a great workout, what you don't see is between this and last week's episodes I dug from 11am-7pm on a 90 degree day with little wind until the evening

    The door knocker looks more like the top of a rein guide. Congrats on the silver thimble!! And everything else as well.

    Record breaking, bucket listing heck of a day- Major Congrats!! The ring was incredible, along with the multitude of pennies and silver coins. Don't know if you've made any progress with the military tag, but it appears to me that I see USNA on the reverse- US Naval Academy? Wondering if they could provide some info on the owner? Good luck!

    Awesome hunt and congratulations on the personal record. I tend to track record's more by spot than day so i don't put too much pressure on myself. My most silver coins in one dirt spot is 14. Water it's 8 coins.

    • @BugeaterMetalDetecting
      @BugeaterMetalDetecting  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow that is a lot! I've heard stories from older friends who detected in the 70's and early 80's who were finding 20+ silvers regularly

    • @metaldetectingthenortheast1294
      @metaldetectingthenortheast1294 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @BugeaterMetalDetecting actually I missed 2 coins had to write it down. It's the most insane place in dirt I've ever detected. 21 silvers over all and a 10k gold class ring from 1943.
      2 mercs, a rosey, 4 Washington's, 1894s barber quarter, 1870 Canadian dime, 1905 barber dime, 1892 barber dime, 1893-S barber dime, 1891 seated dime, 1875cc seated dime, a 1788 half real, a 1697 cob half real, silver turtle stick pin missing the pin, silver jewelry clasp, piece of silver chain, silver tear drop bead and a silver shield shaped pin. Was a total dream spot. 2 British coppers and 16 Indians also showed up.

    • @metaldetectingthenortheast1294
      @metaldetectingthenortheast1294 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @BugeaterMetalDetecting ok it was 16 silver coins and five bits of silver jewelry Had to count when I got home. Surprisingly there was a cob half real in from late 17th century.

      @metaldetectingthenortheast1294 wow that is an incredible spot! Seems like every time I hunt somewhere with copper potential I end up with nothing older than the 30's.

    Lucky you. Here it is so hard to find a place that's never been detected and I still haven't found a coin from the 1800s I'm from oregon there aren't too many extremely historic areas near me mostly 1860-1900s oldest coin I've found so far was from 1914 at my friends house and I've only ever found 1 silver it was a 1952 dime

    • @BugeaterMetalDetecting
      @BugeaterMetalDetecting  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Keep hunting those 20's yards, I have found 1800's coins in them before! I 1925, you could certainly find barbers, v nickels, and indians in your change. Maybe even a worn-out seated if you were really lucky

    • @justrandomthings4300
      @justrandomthings4300 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @BugeaterMetalDetecting I've gotten an Indian head cent from 1908 in my change and my brother got a 1910 v nickel

    • @BugeaterMetalDetecting
      @BugeaterMetalDetecting  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's super lucky! I have never gotten either in change before. Though I have found buffalo nickels, tons of wheats, and silver hunting coin rolls from the bank

    summer silver mining at its best.......
    i def need to know the best way (the way you did!!!) for cleaning aluminum items like that dogtag;
    i have piles of old aluminum tokens//etc and want to work on them during this putrid hot streak we are suffering through while i cannot detect

    • @BugeaterMetalDetecting
      @BugeaterMetalDetecting  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I take oxalic acid solid and dissolve 3 grams in a cup of water. Then I let the tokens sit for 3-4 hours. Make sure you rinse them really well because the residual acid needs to be flushed off the surface of the find. After it's thoroughly rinsed, I scrub hard with dish soap using a hard plastic bristle brush. That will remove all of that brown corrosion and restore the color.

      The oxalic acid has worked wonders for me with aluminum tokens and relics. I still am a little shocked how much my chemistry degree has helped me in this hobby 🤣

    • @BugeaterMetalDetecting
      @BugeaterMetalDetecting  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I absolutely do not recommend oxalic acid on anything other than aluminum. Anything containing copper (including brass) will further oxidize/corrode, killing any numismatic value. This treatment is exclusive to aluminum.
