Absolute congratulations! You need to have that coin certified by PCGS. That is far more than just a find and collector's item. Getting the coin encapsulated will protect it as well as determine it's market value. Even though you plan on never selling it, you can have a pedigree assigned to it; i.e Hoover Boys or using your last name. God forbid should you pass away, your children or family can sell it to someone else who will appreciate it as much as you do. Please take my advice into consideration. You have amassed a tremendous collection besides these that need some form or commemoration and preservation! Love ya Hoover Boys!
I understand why getting it certified is so important. but I collected comic books as a kid and they are quite valuable now. If I sell them as they are in their bags I get one price. but if I get them graded and so called certified then I can get a little more for the same thing. I think it's a scam. I wouldn't be able to open the books to look at them because they would be sealed. Sometimes I wonder how reliable these groups are when they do these things

I've been into numismatics for most of my life, and still keep learning about more extremely rare coins. The Lord Baltimore coin being the latest, to the pine tree shilling, the gold Stella, the 20 cent piece, and oh so many more. History is amazing, and coins being one of the things that keeps people interested in preserving those records.

As such, I didn't know such a thing existed, as a Lord Baltimore coin. My wife and I are watching your excitement as you are holding your Holy Grail of coins. My wife turns to me and asks, "Did he just say he found a Lord Voldemort coin?!" Hell, I don't know what you said either. I'm ignorant of the Lord Baltimore coin. I said, "I think he did!" After you clarified and gave the history, the jokes wrote themselves as we were laughing at ourselves. Thanks for the history lesson, brother! Great find! That coin is so high up the list that it doesn't even make the bucket list because it's more in the wildest dream category!! CONGRATULATIONS seems too small a word but all I can say is that is truly the find of a lifetime, maybe two or three lifetimes!! I would seriously consider sending it off to NGC or PCGS to have it conserved, verified, and slabbed. I totally understand you not selling it (I wouldn't either) but if ever the time comes for you or your kids needs to it will be a lot easier for that to happen. It's numismatic value definitely warrants that. Congratulations on an awesome find!
Yeah I’d use the NCS conversation at NGC. They’ll let you know if it can be improved or not. It is pitted from environmental damage so likely couldn’t straight grade but still extremely valuable. Just awesome.
@@grantv2313 I only use NGC so I agree. Yes, it will be an environmental damage slab but it has XF details and that will definitely determine a proper value. Conserving it like the shipwrecked coins and ancients they can really bring them back and stop any further damage from occurring.

He shows me large Spanish Silver AND Gold coins he dug in the same afternoon at a honey hole he found on a day he bugged me to come along but I didn't feel like going. I was happy for him but not really as much as I should've been because he'd found them before and I always wanted to find one of my own. He said what do you expect you''re not gonna find these unless you get out there looking. He said you can find those 1 in a million finds too all you have to do is go hunting steady take the good with the bad and dig those 999,999 holes first and your 1 in a million will be yours

Thats right! I found one and had it graded. It was graded AU scratch , but I did sell it. What a epic find!

The rivers were the highways back then. This is a colonial rest stop if that makes since. Money changed hands here

HOLY COW! I had never even heard of that one, even as much as I look at my red book. There are probably several colonial coins I've just glazed over. I will never forget about that coin now haha.
