Another tip about AdBlue is to not get huge splashes of it on your clothes, shoes etc. This stuff really does stain badly and is impossible to clean off. Being in transport myself and being around rigid vehicles daily, I see no end of this stuff. Good thing that you did your research on this stuff mate & the measures you took to protect the customers car from mass spillage :)
Completely agree with you. Terrible place to put the filler point for adblu. But the position of the filler point is more car specific and not manufacture specific. I have a Citroen Berlingo on the same year and my adblu fill point is next to fuel fill point. I've also had a Mercedes E class with adblu and the tank was in the boot where the spare wheel would be. Just saying the location of adblu fill point is car specific not manufacture specific
As a recent Picasso buyer with a countdown in progress, this has been very helpful indeed. No idea what possessed whoever signed off on that particular design, but at least I know what I’m up against now! Thank you.
Just searching around and found this after I got a engine management light come on. I bought the car 2nd hand 5 months ago (17 plate with 27k) and the chap introduced me to ad blu. Vehicle was serviced before i took delivery so all good for the next 12000 miles. Yesterday I got a light come on "Engine Fault - Repair needed" Rang the dealer who said no problem, carry on using it and they booked me in for a diagnostic for 2 days later. In the meantime today I get a new message "Emissions Fault" and a little Ad Blu light in the top RG corner of the dash. I've only done 3000 miles since buying it so not altogether sure what's going on. No previous warning about ad blu so I guess its just wait and see. Your video has at least shown me where the filler is and what to do for the future, thank you.
Thanks for very helpful video, gave me confidence to refill my Berlingo, bought 10 litres for £10 at Screwfix, quite easy job with filler cap next to diesel cap, all in all piece o' PISS!!
Very helpful. Last place I would of looked for the ad blue filler. Whoever came up with this design at Citroën and whoever approved it should never be aloud to design anything ever again.
Got a 2016 308 as a company car (Sadly) & that also is in the boot. Really handy when you've got a boot full of junk! Fuel cap is a totally better design. Filled mine every 12'000. Great video as always Rob 👍
One Auto, Had it for the past 18 months. No Mangers role for me thanks! I'm the guy who visits you unexpectedly to see if we can gain more of your parts business 😀
5:22 You have 2 streams of ad-blue coming out - one large and one small. It looks like the blue tube may have a small air pipe inside to let air back into the jug, but you'd have to have it positioned at the top to get it to slow smoothly.
Nope no air hole in the tube, it just happened. Difficult to kneel in the back with the large container under one arm and guiding the tube with the other. A bit like taking a piss.... it don’t always come out in one stream 💪😜
Well spotted ,,,, basic physics is not everybody's cup of tea ....... when keeping the outlet on the top there would be no splashing at all regardless of any helpful installations. I know it is counter intuitive and even old mechanics look at you in amazement
Mercedes just puts an adblue filler next to the diesel filler, which seems to me to be the most reasonable place to put it. But if the french like messing around with urea in their trunks, well...laissez-faire
Looking from pictures it looks like it would be easier to fill that tank from inside the car with the second row seats folded down. That way your not reaching over the whole boot , Just reaching over the transverse beams in front of the 3rd row seats. then you can put the nozzle directly into the filler. Why they couldnt just put a little filler next to the diesel filler i dont know. You can see the beam im talking about in this video its just infront of the ad blu filler.
Hi Rob.Great video. Can you please share with us with what diagnostics equipment did you reset the AdBlue message light? Thank you for all the videos again.
Good Video. Is it dangerous to put too much in? How much should i put in? I have 2019 were adblue filler is next to diesel filler, Is there a way of finding out the current level.
So when you get the warming, there is a preset amount you can use to top it off? How big was that container of Adblue? Not need to check every 10sec whether your not over filling it? Is there quality difference between different brands of AdBlue? Things to avoid? Tip: picking a hole in the adblue container would have made the pouring worry and spill free and 3x faster. The air wants to come in, it's like emptying a plastic bottle, goes everywhere if no intake hole for the air replacing the liquid.
I checked this on mine and it has a hole in the boot like urs but mine just has metal there and not a filler cap. It's a 2014 Citroen c4 grand picasso.
How do you know when you’ve put enough adblue in the tank? Mine says 1500 miles until the engine won’t start. Citroen C4 Grand Picasso ‘65. Do I just put a whole bottle in?
Thanks, very useful. I've read cheap brands of Adblue can mess up the system so what brand of Adblue is best for Citroen and how many litres are needed from 1st warning light? That filler position is awful. Much easier on the 5 seat model where it's right at the boot door opening under the floor panel.
Yes poor quality AdBlue is an issue. It needs to be stored away from sunlight so avoid the garage forecourt stuff. Buy it from Euro car parts or some motor factors where’s its stored inside. 10 litres will do you.
My goodness. That car is packed with do-dads that seem kind of extreme. Thanks for that one. I may be retiring in Germany (if my wife gets her way) so you never know, I might be driving one of these crazy space shuttles. :)
Saw AdBLUE tank and thought this was a late/early april fools! Interesting idea though, going to do a bit of reading on how effective it is. I'd be interested to see if there are any long term effects on the exhaust system. How long does a full tank of AdBLUE last? I assume it varies between cars edit: Just read one of your links and it says 8000-12500, that seems pretty reasonable.

Great video, thanks! It worked a treat the first time I had the warning. This time though, even after adding 10L, the warning still comes on and the countdown is continuing. I read there can be a sensor damaged, but on shoving my finger in (further than my spout would have gone in) I can only feel a pipe. Any advice?
Yes, Get to to a workshop that have experience of these. They suffer with the pump module failing which is integral in the AdBlue tank and also NoX sensor faults
Hi, I have a Citroen C4 Picasso 7 seats. It is very difficult to fill the urea deposit. At the service stations in Spain, there are urea pumps but when I put the pump in the tank there is no urea, a friend told me that placing a magnet in the screw, I would start to leave. Is this true? Another thing: The system of involuntary lane change stopped working, to reach the maximum use, do you know if it can be reset? A greeting.
Hi there, Thanks a lot. I hope you're still answering questions in this video. I put 16 litres of adblue but the warning is still coming 😔. How big is the tank? It gave me 2000 more km to drive but I want to solve this now 😒. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I’ve had Peugeot and Citroen vehicles do this because the electronics and pump inside the Adblue tank fail. Get a reputable diagnostic garage check it out
@@OneAuto Oh Hi... just so you know.... my warning disappear 3 days after it was full, just by itself. Is good to know this may happen as well. My car will be on service next month, so I will ask them to check this but I am relief that I don't have the warning anymore. Thank you again :)

What a terrible place to move the top up tank opening to. I've got the '14 C4 GP and it can be messy so I'm glad I don't have to worry about pouring it all over the seat head rest. Who's bright idea was that? Usually I buy a tank of AdBlue and put it in at home but this time I stopped at a garage that sold it from a petrol pump type dispenser. The damn thing won't reset and the warning is still on even though I've got it full to the brim. Surely this isn't because I filled it up and then drove it straight away?
No, it may have to be reset using diagnostic equipment. Some Citroen and Peugeot vehicles have the Adblue module (tank including pump/level sensor) fail also.
@@OneAuto thanks for the video and the reply. That's what I'm reading online. £1k+ part plus labour. Ouch. Hoping it is just a matter of reseting it. @@OneAuto I got one of those ODB2 Wifi dongles and, using an iPhone App, checked the diagnostics. No errors. Although in "Noncontinous Monitors" the NOx Catalyst Monitor is FAILED with a reading of 32.766 (Min 1 Max 30) which never changes even when I run the engine. I wish I could reset it myself as I live out in the sticks and it's takes up a whole day of my time to take it into the only Citroen Service dealer in my area (I'm in NZ but I'm from the UK and the NZ cars general imported from there too being RHD). I see on forums a mention of DiagBox. I may try that next.
Yeh Nox sensor is another issue ‘le voiture francais’ have. Your obd2 doesn’t go deep enough to sort this out. You can’t guess at this shit either. My advice is, find a shop that specialises in diagnostic work with good reviews and leave it with them.

I have a 2012 Citroen C4 1.6 diesel and the DPF warning light is on. Does anyone know if this adblue is compatible for all diesel systems or are there different types of adblue which are vehicle specific? Tia.
I have the same car and questions. Got my first time pop up sound for adblue now (after about 25.000km). Now counting down at 900km until it refuses to start (coming from 2400km at the first warning). Funny thing is, I also have warning that maintenance is overdue in about 1000km. No I'm not planning to go for it and try to make it ;) So I wonder whether: A/ can I top it off myself B/how much can I add? C/ Can i put a small bottle in it to continue driving and make an appointment at the dealer for full maintenance (and let them fill up the adblue). D/when I add adblue myself, I read a lot about the warning message not resetting. Does this mean that the car will refuse to start if I hit 0km remaining and it will ignore my (partial) top off? Thanks!
The car will tell you when to add the add blue in my car 1.500 miles before it needs to.If you run out your engine will not start.Just top it up you can buy the stuff in most car shops or petrol stations.
Same as 'emissions-free' all electric vehicles. The vehicle may not produce emissions, but the power station that supplies the electricity to your charging socket certainly does. Just waiting for the green warriors to wade in with 'renewables'... :)
It's all BS? Really? "SCR technology is one of the most cost-effective and fuel-efficient technologies available to help reduce diesel engine emissions. All heavy-duty diesel truck engines produced after January 1, 2010 must meet the latest EPA emissions standards, among the most stringent in the world, reducing particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) to near zero levels. SCR can reduce NOx emissions up to 90 percent while simultaneously reducing HC and CO emissions by 50-90 percent, and PM emissions by 30-50 percent. SCR systems can also be combined with a diesel particulate filter to achieve even greater emission reductions for PM. In the commercial trucking industry, some SCR-equipped truck operators are reporting fuel economy gains of 3-5 percent" www.dieselforum.org/about-clean-diesel/what-is-scr The additive is a pretty simple thing, consisting of 32.5% urea (made from ammonia and carbon dioxide), and 67.5% deionised water. So a litre of AdBlue will contain about 325ml of urea. According to my Citroen C4 manual, the 17 litre AdBlue tank should be enough to cover 12,500miles/20,000km, so about 735 miles/1200km per litre. Over that same distance (i.e. using 1L of AdBlue), my car (at 106g CO2/km official figures) will release about 125kg of CO2 - and consume just 325g of urea Whilst energy will of course be used and emissions generated in the production of that AdBlue and the small amount of urea it contains, this must be miniscule compared to the energy used by the car, and well worth it to achieve those NOx/PM/CO and HC emission reductions, no?
I'd be worried about over filling and getting it everywhere, I wonder if you could make a floating stick out of a straw to know when your getting close?
If you were stranded in the desert with no ad blue and the damn car won't start, can't you take a wiz in the tank just to get going again? It would be ad yellow,
Never heard of ad blue till your video, If it won't let you start your car when it runs out makes a damn unreliable car in the long term. You can see all that technology going wrong. Why I stay clear of modern diesels lol
I'd rather buy a petrol and waste more money on MPG, I'd only be spending my savings on all this rubbish emission control stuff going wrong. No end of DPF, EGR and other problems on diesel engines.
Yeh the new diesels have long oil change intervals, low oil capacity (around 4 Litres and very small turbo's. Not surprising the turbo bearing fail rates are so high.
The video clip clearly showed the internal cleanest of the tailpipe amazing , What would it take to convert every diesel engine being used today to qualify to invade ulez tax payment , you would get your money back in no time .

I have a Citroen Cactus 2016 car, it finished in Ed Blue water and stopped working completely, I brought Ed Blue water and put it in it and it did not work, what is the solution
You will need diagnostic equipment to electronically tell the computer to start again
I filled it, buy urea lamp is blinking now...can i still somehow regenerate or?
Best to take it to a good diagnostic shop as it may have other issues. They do suffer from AdBlue pump failure and Nox sensor failure also
@@OneAuto today i got rid of it, got to mechanic to take check engine, and on my way down, Urea lamp showed me again... Just returned from unsuccessful regeneration 😭
I have a 2012 Citroen C4 1.6 diesel and the DPF warning light is on. Does anyone know if this adblue is compatible for all diesel systems or are there different types of adblue which are vehicle specific? Tia.
Yours may use Eloys fluid which a garage will have to fill for you. However get them to check the DPF warning first
If your DPF light comes up.Take the car on a good run blow the shit out of the DPF.There is only one add blue Allen.
Thanks!
LS_scape Add a 10 litre bottle as the video. If it doesn’t reset call the dealer anyway.
The car will tell you when to add the add blue in my car 1.500 miles before it needs to.If you run out your engine will not start.Just top it up you can buy the stuff in most car shops or petrol stations.
Where is the location of powersteering fluid change in Citroën c4 Picasso 1.6 diesel 2013 mode. If anyone can help me.
Do you mean where do you fill it? If so I believe it’s behind the RH headlight lower than but near the washer bottle fill.
@@OneAuto Yes I mean the same. I will check it .thanks and regards.
Those warnings are horrible lol . I drove a acura tax the other day that uses the speakers to tell you to put on your seatbelt. Really annoying.
So annoying.. I wondered what the hell was going on when I first heard it 😂
I wonder how much emissions it took to make the additive at the factory...
That sir is a very good point. It’s all BS
(Sort of like adding ethanol to gas/petrol)
In the commercial trucking industry, some SCR-equipped truck operators are reporting fuel economy gains of 3-5 percent" www.dieselforum.org/about-clean-diesel/what-is-scr
The additive is a pretty simple thing, consisting of 32.5% urea (made from ammonia and carbon dioxide), and 67.5% deionised water. So a litre of AdBlue will contain about 325ml of urea.
According to my Citroen C4 manual, the 17 litre AdBlue tank should be enough to cover 12,500miles/20,000km, so about 735 miles/1200km per litre. Over that same distance (i.e. using 1L of AdBlue), my car (at 106g CO2/km official figures) will release about 125kg of CO2 - and consume just 325g of urea
Whilst energy will of course be used and emissions generated in the production of that AdBlue and the small amount of urea it contains, this must be miniscule compared to the energy used by the car, and well worth it to achieve those NOx/PM/CO and HC emission reductions, no?
Why they dont mix that Adblue stuff with fuel?
I suppose because some diesels use other additives. Eloys fluid for example. But it would make life easier
This is normal addblue ?
Yes
What dumpling decided that was a good place to put the filler cap ?
Nice video Rob.
A French dumpling!
Filling AdBlue inside a car... This can be designed only in France... How exactly is supposed to clean the splashes? After drying you get NASTY THINGS
I'd be worried about over filling and getting it everywhere, I wonder if you could make a floating stick out of a straw to know when your getting close?
Just buy a container that is smaller than your AdBlue tank. And don't full up unless the system tells you to. You won't overfill, it makes sense.
Followed this steps but the warning light still on! Hopefully will be gone in the morning
If it stays on, get it to a reputable diagnostic garage. They can have other issues causing this. Like Adblue module (pump) Nox sensors etc.
@@OneAuto thanks for that I will do
@@OneAuto yes they said it was a faulty add blue nox sensor so will cost £300 😫
Turn the bottle up the other way to what you'd think and it won't glug.
Another reason why im going back to petrol with my next vehicle.
If you pull forward the back seats it's a lot easier
Hi buddy. I've had a warming pop up on my c4 grand Picasso saying particle filter fluid level too low. Would that be adblue?
If it’s the second generation, if not Eolys fluid, then counter has to be reset with diagnostic computer. Best pop it into a local garage to check
One Auto, cheers for the info buddy. It's a 57 plate. Would you have a rough idea of price to do the job
For some reason Rob, half way through this video I had to pee😂😂
Trust me Mike... the smell was similar to that 😂😂
That's a dumb place to put the filler, guaranteed to get pissy fluid everywhere! Wow that handbrake warning is annoying. Nicely done. Cheers!
Cheers mate, whoever thought of injecting piss fluid anyway 😂
If you were stranded in the desert with no ad blue and the damn car won't start, can't you take a wiz in the tank just to get going again? It would be ad yellow,
Haha.. maybe if you can piss 3.8 litres 😂
So it's basically like peeing into the car .... Haha nice job Rob
Yes mate, just be careful of the seats 😂
Well I'm a girl so I won't be trying to aim at any hole haha
Brilliant !! Thanks
We had to have a new B tank, not our fault, it was Citroens , but cost us £11000 ! New tank is different , WHY ? You tell me.
How to remove drive way concrete
Boiling water
good job thanks
nice one mate sorted ,,,
What a stupid place to put the piss tank! 😒
More reasons to mourn the passing of old school diseasals. 😣
Thank you!
ill stick with petrol, cleaner fuel it seems
That has to be THEEEEE most annoying warning sound ever!
Agreed. It certainly wakes you up 😂
Thank you
Ad blue is the same as DEF
Just need drink more beer for make more miles in adblue 😏
Never heard of ad blue till your video, If it won't let you start your car when it runs out makes a damn unreliable car in the long term. You can see all that technology going wrong. Why I stay clear of modern diesels lol
They do give you plenty of notice that the tank is running low.. but if u ignore that you end up with a Citroen paperweight.
One Auto, fair enough that's better than no warning at all
One Auto, I feel an idiot now just watched the video again and saw what you meant on the dashboard where it says starting impossible in 550 miles 😂
Nothing to do with reliability of the engine.Emission control system which isn't a bad thing is it?
I'd rather buy a petrol and waste more money on MPG, I'd only be spending my savings on all this rubbish emission control stuff going wrong. No end of DPF, EGR and other problems on diesel engines.
Correct sir I totally agree with you 👍
.... soon will see some similar system for petrol cars too , so stay tuned :)
Stupid comment.. much less problems than petrol. Over 40 years of diesel experience
Another great video, no point buying a diesel , now the government has done a u turn on diesels.
Дякую за відео.
будь ласка
Thanks
Hola buenas tardes
16K between oil changes wow that's a long time . You try that on a pushrod engine over here and you're buying a new engine after 4 services . LOL
Some of the French are 18k. When Diesels first came out they were every 5k and had less problems although not so ‘clean’ Cheers Steve
Yeh the new diesels have long oil change intervals, low oil capacity (around 4 Litres and very small turbo's. Not surprising the turbo bearing fail rates are so high.
I learned something new all the time. Very informative video Rob and I'm sure it can help a lot of people. 😀👍
Thanks Terry
You're not far off with modern diesels Steve. Most of them are junk.
Ad"pocket-lightening"Blue :))
Grazie
Exelent
Good job .
If this actually works, why are they banning new diesels from 2030 ?
Cause it don’t work well enough
The video clip clearly showed the internal cleanest of the tailpipe amazing , What would it take to convert every diesel engine being used today to qualify to invade ulez tax payment , you would get your money back in no time .
