There is a recall on quite a few of these 1.6Hdi for the rust issue on the catalyst unit that this car also has in the flared connection flange. Tell the customer to check if his car is included in the recall and if he is lucky he'll get a new one.
Good for you to know Jimmy that some have that recall so refer your future customers to check with the dealer. You seem to get through rusted flanges quite often.
Also the seal on the Adblue injector falling apart is really common, you can just replace the seal because you can buy just the seal actually from PSA or wherever, if you want to save the customers some money and know for sure the injector isn't bad in some other way. But warm water clean and new seal and most injectors are like new.
PS: Checked VIN against Citroen database, sadly not covered under any recalls.

The adblue rusts the exhaust from the inside. Well done the designer.

For the price of that Launch scan tool you would think they could put a rev counter somewhere on the screen and a way to set it at 3000 revs .

Great Video as always. That Adblue sounds like a right PITA. I have the same car but without the Adblue system, whenever the ‘Risk of Particulate Filter Blocking’ message comes up, I put a can of Redex DPF Cleaner in the Diesel and the message goes away for approx. 4 months, and then same again. It brings the DPF pressure down from 20 m/bar at idle to 5 m/bar. I have been doing this for 2 years, now at 180.000 miles, original DPF, EGR etc.

Great video as usual. Did you check for pending recalls? Citroen replacing urea tank cap and catalyst +urea injector as recall on this vehicles. The cap is just another cap. Catalyst replacement is because of that kind of corrosion you have there. All free of charge.

In terms of the cat, what is so bad about wire brusing off and using JB weld or similar? It doesn't rust, strong enough to do the job, costs much less in orders of magnitude and is much easier. You could of taken the clip off, put some JB weld around the whole joint, covered in cling film and reapplied the clip. It would protect the rest of the rusting joining and probably last the life of the car.
Personally, I think there is a bit of a difference between what mechanics do when people are watching and what they do when they are not. I suspect reputation protection is probably driving that mindset but if you can justify a repair to be a reasonable one that will last a reasonable amount of time then it is wholly acceptable in my opinion. If it works, it works.
    Love your videos.

With the P242F fault and given the mileage would it not be advisable to clean the dpf (or replace) before resetting the kms back to zero? I have the same fault on my C4GP, mechanic says although it is a calculated fault before resetting the dpf should be removed, cleaned and reinstalled (not cheap!)

  • @beany1987

With citroen the dpf usually says it need replacing at 120k when you look into it with it software.

What to do if I have 2 errors: P208E Denox System Circuit, Detection of a Blockage, and U1318: Communication fault with the built-in Systems Interface - communication not valid. Is it a reason of FAP regenerating every 120-240km?

Typical french car, electrics ain't the best but the engines is brilliant the adlblue and eolys tank combined hasn't helped it over the years but I regualry see these engines in volvos mainly with 170k-300k. Volvos owners seam to be very particular with their maintainence.

    • @khalidacosta7133

@@beany1987 Electrics aren't the best... I best tell my two pugs on 250k miles to break their electrics. Eolys system is best in market. Lowers combustion temperature, cheaper DPF's, far lower oil dilution, dpf regen is quicker hence saves more fuel. Adblu... that's an issue on all cars due the crystallisation issues.

    • @beany1987

@@khalidacosta7133 you know about the adlblue and the eolys average Joe though doesn't, the only problems I have ever had with French cars is electrical. Airbag lights, electric handbrake switch failures recently, window motors and switches just my experience from working on them. My experiences with these and the electrical problems is on cars usually with 8+ years mileage doesn't really matter.
