Great edit, I loved that the filmmakers weren’t scared to give us a Luke Skywalker that moved forward, it’s nice to see a happy ending but inevitably no new story can work without some form of conflict, and I adored Luke’s character in the last Jedi, it’s beautiful to me that a hero I love and looked up to as a child was flawed, because he’s human, and to see him learn and ultimately save not just the galaxy but the Jedi order by winning the Battle of Crait by using self defense and not attack, the most Jedi thing he could do, it’s beautiful. I’m hoping more people can appreciate TLJ one day.
I’ll admit this is 100% my own head canon, but the reason why Luke’s character in TLJ didn’t bother me as much as it did others boiled down to his perception of Vader vs his perception of Ben. Luke did not see Vader kill children, choke his mother, turn from someone he loved to a monster, slaughter innocent civilians, and commit acts of pure evil. He saw Ben do that though. There’s a reason why Obi wan could only fight Vader and not save him and it has to do with Obi-Wan’s own emotions, and when Luke found himself in the same place he realized he was as flawed as the Jedi order before him that he had been trying to reform without the flaws
I feel like this edit very effectively demonstrates why I think people overhate lukes character in TLJ. People act like he actively tried to kill ben when that was just his warped perception. What actually happened was that Luke saw a vision of ben destroying EVERYTHING that he had built and VERY BRIEFLY drew his lightsaber in fear. He immediately, IMMEDIATELY realised his error. In the grand scheme of things it was an incredibly minor lapse in judgement. Unfortunately for him, it happened at the absolute worst time. He scared Ben, verified all of Snokes manipulations and inadvertently brought his own fears into existence. It speaks to Lukes chief flaw, indicated here by Yoda, that he lost hope here. He had spent his entire adult life looking to the future, trying to rebuild the Jedi and instead? He handed the dark side a new generation of warriors, one of which was his nephew. He repeated the precise error that led to his father becoming Darth Vader, albeit to a far, FAR lesser extent. Of course he fucking ran.
Exactly! That's what makes Luke that much more relatable for me. Even our greatest heroes are inflicted with their own weaknesses. I would've done exactly what Luke did. Ran. - Kaleb
No. Even Mark Hamell said "Luke would never do that !" After reading the script. Luke would never hurt anyone out of fear. Disney ruined Star Wars . Period.
@@theoeguia3302hey genius, he didn’t hurt anyone, he learned from his mistakes, and this lead him to win the battle of Crait without any fighting, the most Jedi thing any Jedi has ever done, Disney didn’t ruin Star Wars, you continue to ruin it by focusing on the negative with no room for argument.
Failure: "Failure is the greatest teacher." Me: Has failed so many times, it's pathetic "So.... What did I learn?" Failure: "That you suck at everything." Me: 😐 Failure: 🙂
Not saying you have to like it, but saying the writer doesn’t care about the character is incorrect. The writers just care about different things than you do! - Kaleb

I'm just commenting so this masterpiece can be seen by more people
You're too kind :)

Haven't heard that one before! Definitely could see it working, and I like the thought process behind it.

Love it. Keep it up
Will do! Any particular character or franchise you’d maybe like to see next?
this is really nice!
Thank you :)
The Last Jedi is a good movie. Suck it up buttercup but nobody can change my mind.
It's one of my favourite SW movies !
Definitely tons of aspects to love from TLJ! It wasn’t a safe pick, and I really liked the risks it took. - Kaleb
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Dang this already got a thousand views! Danggggg
2.5K now😲
This was excellent! Very impressive edit.
Thank you!!
Nice job kaleb
While I hate Last Jedi, the Yoda scene is the best
This edit lowkey sequels kinda saves the sequels lol
If that is my legacy I’d be ok with that tbh - Kaleb
This edit almost makes it seem like Luke had good character development in the sequels.
I believe he did but to each their own.
The thing is, his failure is caused by a writer that doesn't like the franchise, so he doesn't give any fuck for the character.
