    Nice work! Maybe hang your tire straps on the inside of your steel door. That would save a ton of room.

      Thanks, I'm definitely looking at every option for organizing.

    How hard was it to get registered being it was a camper frame? Did you have a title for it and was it in your name? Or did you just register it as a homemade trailer?

      I went the "assembled trailer" rout. But since I didn't have paperwork showing that I paid taxes when I bought the main parts, axles and frame, I had to pay more than just the plate. Other than that I had to get a weight slip for the classification, but there's a grain elevator just outside of town for that. Next time I'm going to make sure I have paperwork for the taxes portion. Thanks for watching.

      @@rzradventures6525 ok I recently bought a fifth wheel camper frame to do the exact same thing so I was wondering how difficult it would actually be to get it registered as a utility trailer, turns out a little more difficult than I thought lol, I also don’t have the title from when I bought it, but I purchased it cash through a family friend, I’m going to have quite a bit of receipts from all the extra material I’m going to need to actually make it how I’m going to make it so hopefully it’s enough to get by as homemade. Only thing that sketches me out is the fifth wheel tongue, being it’s clearly not homemade, everything else I feel I can get by with.

      @@jonahdeangelo4688 all I needed (this is for Michigan) was the weight slip and receipts for the axles and frame material. Everything else apparently didn't matter. Then I got a plate and vin number based on the trailer weight class. They just want to make sure you paid you taxes on the "important part". If you don't have receipts showing the taxes you have to "tell them how much you paid" so they can assess the MI 6% sales tax.
      So good luck buddy. Might have to make a video talking about everything I would do differently next time. Maybe once this one is posted for sale.

      @@rzradventures6525 thanks for replying so quickly, your information has helped me a lot believe it or not, I’d definitely be interested in a video about the whole process. Why are you looking to sell? Great build quality by the way, good way to get the kids involved!

      @@jonahdeangelo4688 had some big life changes this year, ended up selling my truck, and the wife's is only a half ton, so I need to get (or quickly build) a bumper pull. I'll probably do a video/ad on the channel shortly.

    I love your videos! Keep up the good work! Quick question.......what kind of screws did you use to hold down your E-track?

      Thanks so much, all I used was a hex head lag bolt, unfortunately the hardware I go to didn't have any stainless ones, so I had to use zinc plated. So these will corrode before I can get them replaced. Stainless is expensive but it's worth it in the long run. And then in areas where the board was not as grippy I drilled all the way through and used a stainless bolt not and washer. It doesn't seem like a lot to hold it down, but when you put so many screws in it's held up pretty well for us in the past.

    You do not have 1600 pounds of extra on those axles. You are pretty much maxxed out. Remember the trailer weighs something. You have to deduct that from the weight capacity of the axles. For example. You have two 3500's which equals 7000. Lets say your trailer weighs 2500 pounds. That leaves you a 5500 pound load capacity. Not 7000 pounds. If you are already at 5300 pounds, you have 200 pounds of extra capacity not 1600.

      @rzradventures6525  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I subtracted the full weight on the axles from the capacity of the axle and ended up with about 600lbs to spare with everything loaded on the trailer.

      @@rzradventures6525 you should be in good shape. A lot of people mistake the axle capacity for load capacity and it isnt really their fault. Thats how they sell it. So it would be easy to mistake it. But it comes with an expensive price by the time they figure it out.

      @@aaronwood3540 and that was one of my biggest concerns. I have a habit of over-building things, so I ended up going to the scales about 3 times throughout the build. I didn't want to have to go up to larger axles, but I kept checking just in case.

      @@rzradventures6525 im actually starting on one now. Ive been trying to decide on cutting off the upper deck or leave it. I have a gooseneck converter for it so i could go either way. It has 5200 pound axles. And the deck is already above the tires so i dont have to do the axle flip you went through. Its right at 20 ft on the lower deck so i was thinking a 4 ft dovetail and leave the upper deck. Its beefed up in the gooseneck part but the rest needs more bracing to strengthen it up. The upper deck is very stout made from 2×4 × 1/4" tubing. It has 15" wheels but i have a set of 16's im going to put on it. I should video the build but im not any good at that. Lol
