  • Full build of Revell London Bus Routemaster 1:24 (07651). This is the first part of a series videos which demonstrate the complete build. The videos provide in depth hints and tips which I think will be proved useful to people who want to build the kit.
    Just to clarify I am quite inexperienced modeller with (at this time) less than a year into this hobby. My videos mainly aimed to completely beginners (as I was few months back) who want to start this amazing hobby.
    The first part include:
    1)Unboxing of the kit
    2)Shot of the sprues
    3) Assemble and paint of the engine and the chassis
    4)Weathering of the engine

    Well thought-out plan. "Plan"...George, you have formulated this plan, and via the concept of 'thinking', you have produced a workable, cogent road map which helps a professional artist- that would be me- adjust your plan to my own working style. In short, it is
    the thought you have put into these videos which sets them apart from self-styled know-it-alls. I am able to make a living as an artist because people such as yourself have shown me a piece here and a piece there which I was able to study and build into my own work style. Other people enabled me to become good at what I do and you are definitely a member of that much loved group of women and men. It is all those many pieces of good, solid tutelage upon which my ability depends. Thank you George.

      Well thank you for your encouraging words. I worked really hard for this model and truth be said I was quite inexperienced back then. Planning is the most important thing on this kind of builds. Also this was my first build where I did a TH-cam video (just a slide show basically with some commends). It will be interesting to redo this kit and shoot a video in the far future in order to see how far I went. Anyway I am glad this video motivated you to your projects. Cheers.

      @@GeorgeModellingforBeginners Thanks for the reply, George. I am amazed you say you were inexperienced then. The results sure don't reflect that. Just superb all around! I look forward to more of your diligent efforts. By the way...I am getting WAY ahead of myself, but I want to get the Revell London taxi. Revell over the years has really upped their game. Cheers right back atcha, sir! :>)

      I understand as it took me 6 months to finish it. It is a lot of work and I am not sure if I would do it again.

    Just found you after me buying this kit. I used to drive the numbers 15, 23 , 25 and 5 out of Upton Park in the early 80's after leaving the army.
    Have not modelled in many many years. If i need to can i contact you for advice & suggestions?.
    Would be very grateful.??

      Sorry for the late reply, I was away for work the last month. You must feel quite proud driving the world's most recognisable bus. I think you will really enjoy this build and will bring you back memories. Absolutely, always happy to help, give a shout if you need any help. It has been 5 years since I build this kit (with limited modelling experience) so I will probably need to watch my own videos for reminder. If you have any questions, please drop a comment with the time stamp of the video that shows the build section you need help with.

    Do you leave them in the soapy water or do you wipe them with a cloth or something?

    • @GeorgeModellingforBeginners

      Just leave them for few minutes and then rinse them with water. Then I let them dry overnight.

    For some reason Revell have got there wires cross with regarding the engine make, it is a AEC AV 590 , all AEC / PRV RML Routemasters from New had AEC Engines.

      Nigel Branthwaite cannot argue here but if you say so. Do you have any reference regarding that?

    • @jamesfrench7299
      @jamesfrench7299 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe only some early 60s RMs came with Leyland 0600 engines from new. RMLs had AEC 590s and 690s as well possibly.

  • @nigelbranthwaite8471
    @nigelbranthwaite8471 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Although they it's a Leyland engine infact it a AEC AV590.

      Sorry but I do not think I can help you with your project. I never done any models with wiring but I can imagine it must be challenging.

      @@GeorgeModellingforBeginners Another great quality of George's video is he knows what he doesn't know. Many so-called experts won't tell you if they don't know something. My wife, perhaps the most intelligent extraterrestrial I know told me long ago if I was able to identify the elements of a project of which I had no knowledge, it would go a heck of a long way into making things proceed a bit more smoothly. Just ask someone who knows.
