No, I watched TMNT III a bunch of times when I was a kid before this review. And I can confirm that Korey did in fact dubbed his voice for that scene!!!
Almost every major event from the first movie came directly from the early Mirage comics. Had they stuck to that tone, it could have been an amazing trilogy. The original is still one of the most faithful comic adaptations ever.
Jim Henson’s TMNT will always be my favorite, especially because of how Awesome his team built all the costumes and animatronics. TMNT 3 fights were cool but that’s it.
The story/concept of the film is actually really cool. I remember as a kid noticing the change in tone and quality, but I always loved the premise, so I could look passed the goofiness of the acting & the cliche dialog~ I do remember hating the "new" Splinter though lol
For me, if you were to have the director of the original movie coming back, what can you do? Even if you were to make serious for funny, what's the point of them going back in time? The only best way I can see it is maybe they go back and discover something like the Foot's origins and maybe fight and dragon like the season 7 1987 TMNT series and then they leave for knowing the information they need and goes to other timelines or dimensions like the 4th game.
This is one of the few movies I didn’t fall for. I’ve paid to see RoboCop 3, Wild Wild West, Batman & Robin, Men In Black 2, Daredevil and Ghost Rider, but not TMNT 3. That’s how bad it looked.

I actually liked the second Bay-produced TMNT movie as that one legit was the closest in spirit to the 80s cartoon. Unlike the first one, the focus was shifted squarely on the Turtles, and having Shredder, Bebop & Rocksteady and Krang were cool. Overall, to me the 1990 film is the best overall TMNT movie. While 2016’s “out of the shadows” felt like an adaptation of the 80s cartoon, the 1990 movie was based more on the original Mirage Comics, which I appreciate.

The movie loses tons of points for being too cartoonish and ridiculous, but the part that always irritated me, even when I was a kid, was when Walker falls to his death and just "disappears" from the screen rather than splashing into the water. They could have done it literally a dozen other ways and made it tame enough for kids, but instead they did it in the stupidest way possible.
Regarding the scroll with the pictures of the turtles...there is a Japanese folklore creature called a kappa that look EXACTLY like the Ninja Turtles. Even in pictures of kappas that weren't made for this movie. That, honestly, was probably the most clever thing is this flick..
Jesus, this movie gets an underserved amount of hate. This movie had the Samurai horseback scene, the cannonball beach target scene, Casey is back, Corey Feldman is back, April is Hot April, Sab Shimano/Wayne Newton/Don King, Yoshi, Stuart Wilson, the witch walkman bit, the callback to the all red bandanas in the legendary scroll drawing, Raph growling/muttering at those guards, Leo cleverly dodging the cannonball, oh and who could forget, "Hockey"?
This 3rd film used a couple things within the franchise that were popular. The video game 'Turtles In Time' and an storyline from the original comics having to do with this Scepter of Time. One of those 3rd films that are not as good as the previous films. It was ok. But afterwards it becomes clearly the kookiest of all the TMNT films. Surprised that it didn't flop at the box office. Also the craze was starting to shift in 1993. Power Rangers were starting to take over and everybody sort of forgot about Turtle Power.
The two biggest things that hurt the 3rd sequel, was the fact most of it took place in daylight, totally ruining the mysticism and nocturnal aspect of four mysterious sewer dwelling ninja turtles (the premise was always ridiculous but fun none the less). And also we can all agree on them animatronics for the mouth movements were abysmal, they were just so soulless and offputting lol.
This movie, more than any other, should show to those why these movies were so weird mainly came from Donnie. He had little to do and said the most bizarre things more than others. "I stepped on a frog; I hope it wasn't an ancestor!"
the original TMNT i think is one of the most successful Indie Films ever. And, in terms of Comic Book movies, that movie was DARK for a PG film. It violent and way more mature compared to the cartoons. TMNT 3, yeah it sucks, but, there are some really good elements to it. The main Brit bad guy is great, and, I really like the Time Travel device used here of swapping whoever holds the scepter or "magical broomstick" at the same time. You can see this was going to be epic, but, it got totally shell shocked
Not about this movie but in Michael Bay’s version the other producers wanted Anna Kendrick for April O’Neil. She would have been perfect as April IMO…obviously Bay being Bay he really wanted to go for the “hot” one.
@@A-Dubs398 And a better actress. Given her explosive energy and tomboyish and scrappy attitude, she would've been a great April O'Neil. But I guess that might happen in newer incarnations.
Korey and Billy ain't seen shit until they watch the Turtles Christmas special. The fucking STATE of the suits in that special. Those make the costumes in this movie actually acceptable.
The most offensive part is that casey Jones was brought back to be a baby sister. Your going to tell me that those 4 humans weigh as much as the turtles
I remember being 12, and going to see TMNT 3 in theaters. My uncle took me because his son wanted to see it and he knew I liked the Turtles. Now I was starting to grow out the Turtles, but I wanted to see it because Turtles in Time was my favorite game then. I just remember after that movie thinking, yep, I’ve out grown the Turtles. lol. Never watched the cartoons or the Next Mutation after that. 😂
I was one of those kids who watched certain movies, over and over on VHS because it was all i had to do... and TMNT 2 and 3 were on repeat all the time. I absolutely loved the first movie, but back then it wasn't rewatchable, because it was so serious and tonely different from the other 2, and the cartoons. So i watched 2 and 3.. A LOT. I would try to be Keno (Kano, Kino?) and do ninja moves in the backyard. I always felt that 3 was way worse than the other 2, and hated that it wasnt really TMNT.. but i liked it for its goofy premise. I had(have) a huge crush on the new April, Paige Turco, and was always a big fan of Casey Jones. His scenes with the japanese guys were the highlights for me, and sort of the only reason i rewatched it. It reminded me of sketch comedy scenes, but in a TMNT universe... and i wanted nothing but for a movie. haha In retrospective, 3 is such an abomination on the TMNT franchise that i can totally understand that the TMNT mania of the late 80's/early 90's died off when this came out.
Did not even know they made a Teenage Mutan Ninja Turtle 3 movie. Question: was this in the cinema or tv just asking for a friend. This one escape me completely!
My mother made my older brother take me to the movies to see this one and I remember him angrily glaring at me throughout the film and looking back on it, I now see why.
Man do I have a history with this one. Wanted to watch it in the theater and Mom wouldn't take me, think she heard the word of mouth about it. Finally saw it on home video, but it was while we were on a trip at a friend's house when I finally got to sit down and watch it, but I didn't get to finish it because we had somewhere to go. I still remember looking back at that house, kind of peeved I didn't get to finish it. To this day I still can't finish it. I've tried several times and I can never make it through and I just watched Ryan's Babe yesterday for the 2nd time, on purpose. I love my bad movies but TMNT 3 is just awful. When it starts it feels like you're watching the wrong movie. The costumes are a very bizarre redesign and much cheaper than previously. The Turtle's hangout has a sitcom-like feel. The editing makes it feel sluggish. I still hold to this day that the first TMNT movie is damn close to a masterpiece. It feels like Scorsese or Walter Hill were held at gunpoint to make a comic book movie. TMNT 2 hasn't aged too well for me, but the third one is a very unique nosedive.
You saying this movie is bad doesn't describe how bad this movie truly is like wow I was shocked when I heard you talking about this movie when did I miss this review
The biggest problem I have with this third wheel of disaster is they tried to replicate the Turtles in Time concept from the arcade game and it got from boring to a complete snore fest, and Don't get me started with the animatronic designs.😰
I was a kid in Colombia in 93 when i ran across this movie at a video rental store, and at first i thought it was some bootleg fake movie, from the cover alone. then i watched it and utterly hated it.
The toys where called the movie star turtles for this specific style of turtle. The ones with the black and yellow spots. The toys themselves where rubber. Unlike the other style of turtle toys that used the hard plastic.
I loved the first two as a kid, as an adult I realize the 2nd film is pretty bad but still some comedic value so I appreciate it but for years I had no idea there was a third one. One day a family friend mentioned he had it (on VHS of course) and I said "There's a Ninja Turtles 3?!?!" and next time I saw him he handed me this obnoxiously bright yellow VHS sleeve and I immediately knew that something was off; the Turtles on the front cover just didn't look quite right. From the first 5 minutes I knew, even at 9 years old, that this was going to be a shit-a-thon. I was definitely upset by it lol.

23:58 - 24:02 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Corey Feldman a giant mutant turtle in the CGI cartoon?
31:41 Billy Right Guard Joke didn't get a chance to breathe. Hilarious
34:04 That dude just vanishes to another dimension (without a splash)!!! LOL!!!
It's still the worst TMNT movie, worse than the Next Mutation show.
Yeah, this movie sucks. AVGN did a review of this way back in the day that pretty much sums up the disappointment of this movie at the time.
"You were expecting the, uh, Ninja Turtles?"
@@Smokey1419
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3…”
*slaps video tape back into case*
“…sucks shit!”
And the fact the Second one made less money than the first..... causing New Line Cinema to reduce their budget as a result of losing interest.
24:01 I mean, considering he returned to voice Slash in the 2012 series, that joke ain't too farfetched
the first one will always be the best hands down
I swear nothings better then seeing a new bad movie review lol especially when Billy and his laugh are involved
This movie said " f#$k these kids I'm high off coke"lol😅
3:04 You were expecting maybe The Addams Family?
Addams Family Responds:
We Are Not Amused!
Billy’s laugh can always cheer me up😄😄
Not about this movie but in Michael Bay’s version the other producers wanted Anna Kendrick for April O’Neil. She would have been perfect as April IMO…obviously Bay being Bay he really wanted to go for the “hot” one.
You know how Bay is.. I will give Bay this.. He did get the personalities right.. That is it..
yeah but megan fox is not a bad actress I feel talk to much smack about her
Anna Kendrick is way prettier than Megan Fox IMO.
@@A-Dubs398 And a better actress. Given her explosive energy and tomboyish and scrappy attitude, she would've been a great April O'Neil. But I guess that might happen in newer incarnations.
You do know Michael bay didn’t make those movies right he was only the producer
Korey and Billy ain't seen shit until they watch the Turtles Christmas special.
The fucking STATE of the suits in that special. Those make the costumes in this movie actually acceptable.
Oh Hell Naw a Turtles Christmas special
I still regret asking my folks to order this movie for me on pay per view😩🔫
The most offensive part is that casey Jones was brought back to be a baby sister. Your going to tell me that those 4 humans weigh as much as the turtles
I remember being 12, and going to see TMNT 3 in theaters. My uncle took me because his son wanted to see it and he knew I liked the Turtles. Now I was starting to grow out the Turtles, but I wanted to see it because Turtles in Time was my favorite game then. I just remember after that movie thinking, yep, I’ve out grown the Turtles. lol. Never watched the cartoons or the Next Mutation after that. 😂
Which is ironic because the actual TMNT is the first movie and the comics!
@@SanFran51 oh I read the comics and loved TMNT the show. But somehow that movie just made me lose interest in all things TMNT until the 2003 series.
22:00 LOL 😂! Billy shouting to the heavens!
From what I've read, this was shown in theaters back in 1993. I can understand why you asked that. This film does look pretty cheap.
It was released in theatres, i saw it with my tmnt3 shirt, haha
@@Smokey1419 not with your TMNT shirt on 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Just asking how old were you?! Lol
@@michaelstrong5383 yes it looks pretty cheap it’s giving me tv vibes.
My mother made my older brother take me to the movies to see this one and I remember him angrily glaring at me throughout the film and looking back on it, I now see why.
I knew Walker’s death would have Billy weak😂😂😂
TMNT3 might be the first betrayal I ever felt.
I tried to revisit it last night and fell asleep 🤣
13:03
They look like people wearing animatronic green ski masks
this is the silliest and dumbest of the 3 Ninja Turtles movies
I was a kid in Colombia in 93 when i ran across this movie at a video rental store, and at first i thought it was some bootleg fake movie, from the cover alone. then i watched it and utterly hated it.
The toys where called the movie star turtles for this specific style of turtle. The ones with the black and yellow spots. The toys themselves where rubber. Unlike the other style of turtle toys that used the hard plastic.
They put one of the worst zz top songs in there too 😂
As bad as this movie is go watch The Next Mutation TV show....
One of the first movies I remember being disappointing as a kid😂
I loved the turtles in time game and was so excited for this movie. I was so wrong.
17:10 my goodnesses! That is Chuck E Cheese. Unsure what the politics behind the scenes were regarding the budget, but damn, that was insulting.
34:05 Captain no Splash
Even as a 5-year-old, I knew this movie was utter shite
That Shogun father is the ninja master from blood sport who trained van damme I think lol
